Adam C hi just one question Why do the eggs stay on them
@GlassicGamer7 жыл бұрын
It's amazing its almost like they form off the egg rather than hatch from it. When they were bouncing around on the egg sack it reminded me of a South Park episode lol. I loved how they absorbed it over time and really started showing the personality at the end :)
@adamc79187 жыл бұрын

+FearIsFunYT hi fearls, I'll be honest I have zero experience with gold fish. however there are quite a few cichlids that can be easy to breed like yellow labs for example. the saying with cichlids by some people is "to breed cichlids just add water"
@adamc79187 жыл бұрын
+FearIsFunYT thank you for watching. if u want to start with cichlids yellow labs and acei are great ones to start with if you are undecided on a type

That was so cute! At the end they were dying to get out into the bigger tank. We have a 55 gallon tank with cichlids & a smaller tank with smaller ones. They definitely are resilient, & love how they follow if u walk by, cuz they wanna be fed lol.

Adam C it's quit the epic battle isn't it, so what, a African Rift Valley cichlid may have 30 odd eggs, without them being stripped she is going to loose quit a few of those in the wild, not accounting for duds she will eat herself, then the rearing of the fry constantly under the watchful gaze of every predator in eye shot of her territory, then sub adulthood and independence. It's amazing any make it!. I refuse to buy wild caught these days, what with added pressure of human population, and the understanding of the utter miracle that takes place to get that fish too adulthood. I think it could one day be up to us aquarists to support these amazing animals in the wild and not the other way round. Sad thought isn't it!

you don't have to take the eggs. I took the eggs becaise it was a first time mother and they usually lose the first few batches due to inexperience. but most people who try to breed fish strip them becaise then the female can get more eggs sooner

Adam C, I am amazed beyond belief... good stuff! 😰🤔 Reminds me off a bird I raised that had eggs, her inexperience made her unsuccessful with producing hatchlings until like the 5th or 4th batch.

Whoa, that's wild! I would never have imagined them developing like that, I've only ever seen animals grow from inside the egg. Is this a common way for fish to develop or is it specific to this species? Thanks for sharing! :)
@adamc79187 жыл бұрын
+Stefanie B thanks for watching Stefanie, it is interesting to see. it isn't common among all fish but this is pretty common among african cichlids which are fish from lake Malawi, lake tanganyika and lake Victoria. I hope to do this with a larger species in the future

Hello I have some questions 1 why were they still attached to the egg when they were growing? 2 why were the eggs bobbing up and down? 3 where do the eggs go when the fry are growing?
@adamc79187 жыл бұрын
+Bree Dallas they absorb the egg as food until they can swim around and find their own food. the bobbing up and down simulates the mother fish holding the eggs in her mouth for protection. if they aren't moving they can rot and die similar to bed sores. thanks for watching bree
