That’s the purpose of it. Literally for emergency use for food and basic needs. They actually do a separate thing for lodging that takes another week or so at most but puts you in a hotel for an extended period of time. As having just lived through a hurricane both the $700 and the lodging were literally life saving so it’s funny to hear people talk shit about it. We’re 100 days out and people are still being covered to stay in hotels as they have no homes or money.

I’ve Lived in Woodland Hills (Los Angeles) all my life (over 50 years) and it was very rare not to see a shit load of houses burn down every year! Don’t we have a government that is supposed to take care of things like this? Find solutions City of LA! It’s been decades of technological growth, our government is the most robust, and has a huge budget to bring the best minds to find solutions. The city’s residence and businesses pay the government generously, more than any other state in the union in form of heavy taxation. We are also regulated excessively with no clear reason, look at other states without all of the above burden, they have better or equal environmental impact results on the environment. Once you look at this problem spread out over the decades, This is clearly governmental negligence and we keep voting for failing leadership, bad legislation and unfair regulation. Conservatives have been begging everyone to wake up for a long time, it’s sad that we need to have so much tragedy, sadness, loss and destruction for us to unite and start making good changes that benefit the citizens and not our failed governments. May all that died rest in peace and all the hurt recover quickly and may we find a way to pay for all this mess and build our city/county back to us! It’s time to give the conservative way a chance to manage and run our city / state (and country) responsibly, efficiently, fairly and prosperously.
