Adam Carolla

Күн бұрын

Adam recaps his experience at Stagecoach including seeing Elle King perform, hanging with ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, and seeing people abandoning Bryan Adams’ set which reminds him of how he was snubbed by an Uber driver. Adam then talks about the world premiere of ‘Meme Gods’ before getting into the mass exodus of people leaving California.
Next, Chris reports the news. Hearing about plans for a bullet train from Las Vegas to Los Angeles leads Adam to note how everything is racist to Pete Buttigieg. They break down some clips from The White House Correspondents' Dinner and look into Ed Sheeran singing and playing guitar in court to prove he didn’t commit plagiarism. Finally actor Jon Heder and writer Dominic Russo join to talk about their new animated series ‘Space Junk’ about garbage men in space. They get into how ‘Napoleon Dynamite’ ended up being so successful, pollution in space, Skylab, and Jon’s LDS mission in Japan.

Jon seems like a genuinely great person. I'm sure it's gotten old to him by now, but his role as Napolean was amazing and he's brought more joy and laughter to so many people's lives than he could fathom. Thanks for being awesome Jon!

Never heard of the brown spot club. However, my first month in Taiwan and we were meeting someone at their house who ended up not being home and my stomach was dying so I knocked on the neighbors door and the first thing I said was can I use your bathroom. I was in there for ten minutes. We ended up teaching that guy for a month before he moved to another city for work. Missionaries do not get to choose where we are assigned. We believe it is chosen from inspiration. By the way, Jon is a good guy. Met him years ago and is just super humble and down to earth guy. Glad he is getting work. Well deserved. Napoleon Dynamite is one of the best movies. Classic.

"Spanish is a bridge too far" comment at 1:57:ish (almost at the end).... Adam, how do you trust the teaching ability of public schools in linguistics any more than you know to trust them teaching economics? Everybody and their mother has a story about "thinking they were bad at languages!" because of mandatory high school language classes. It's not the students that suck, it's the teaching.

I always think about how out-of-touch-with-reality these wealthy celebrities are when talking about the free perks they get from OTHER wealthy celebrities, while talking like we all get these perks. So I appreciated the producer/engineer speaking up from behind the camera that Adam would not praise the music festival if he hadn't had the free backstage pass. Yeah rich podcasters, life is not the same for majority of your listeners. I kind of get tired of hearing stories about luxury from these people when so many struggle and listen to this to escape that struggle.

The guy who directed the Sling Blade short's dad (George Hickenlooper) was one of my English professors in college in the late 90s (and his uncle was governor of Colorado). Strange old guy, one day in class he recommended if we had some free time that we should read some book I forget now, Uncle Vanya or something. But we'd just read it as part of his curriculum a few weeks earlier and taken exams on it. He just totally forgot. In 2014 I befriended an English professor who also taught there and she said he was still teaching. I told her my story and she just laughed and said "yeah rhat sounds like George."

Wasn't there a space junk series in the early eighties with Richard Benjamin? They would fly around the world in their rocket made in a junkyard.
@IMDunn-oy9cd
@IMDunn-oy9cd Жыл бұрын
Space junk is managed through gravity as it gets pulled in and most of it burns up in the atmosphere during re-entry. Larger pieces can survive re-entry and most of what survives falls into the ocean. The larger pieces are tracked along with noting their speed and path so that space vehicles can adjust their path to prevent collision.

@@TheGor54 The amount of space junk that comes through is dwarfed by the amount of real space junk (think asteroids) that comes through daily. Most of it burns up, falls in the ocean, or embeds itself in the ground and only very rarely comes through the roof of someone watching a Seinfeld rerun.

Ever notice how news anchors constantly shuffle papers they don’t seem to need in the first place. When my wife leaves the table at the restaurant, I either drink my beer more often than normal or get out my cellphone so I’m not just sitting there with a dumb look on my face.
