With someone who could choose anywhere to go and pic a composition you show us that we should keep going back and pushing ourselves to look, and look again at a familiar local place to keep learning. Meaning that even if you think you have nowhere left to go, that the same location can continously yield beautiful compositions. Its a craft which is disappearing fast from modern photograohy. What this should teach many who follow you is that even you continously push yourself to look repeatedly at the same place rather than rush about snapping everything. I mean you could have easily gone somewhere else but no, look again and again at refining what you see. Brilliant Adam. Wish we had snow. Instead we are being lashed to death by torrential rain, and gales. Your vlog was welcome respite. Thank you for sharing.

I think I like the earlier, non snow, photos of the madrone trees. The red color really makes them pop and the Doug fir in the background tends to blend in with the madrone in the snow version of the photo. They are beautiful trees! Gavin went out into the snow to photograph waterfalls. That looked really cold. Thanks for your wonderful videos Adam. I enjoy your talking us through your approach to composing them!

How little mountain has changed with snow, working it baby! 😆👍 wow 8:42 right on the top! Those trees 👌 jees man what a place, and shots, I was hoping you’d step back and get the shot wide but you nailed it! As always, really enjoyed. 14:05 18:09 my fav shots 19:33, a square crop of this with just the foreground twisting tree but maybe too abstract. Belting Adam 👍

Great Video Adam and thanks for sharing. If any of you are wondering about the Shimoda {Adam kinda segwayed into the discussion of his camera, Lol) It is a great bag. I have the 70X series, same as Adams. I just got back from Death Valley a couple of weeks ago and hiked for miles with it. I am really happy I went with the 70X rather than the 50X. There is plenty of room for all of my Kit of 4 lens etc, etc. The top will fit your Jacket, Rain Gear and lunch/ dinner.

At 16:00 dead center frame on XT-4 there appears a vertical pano with the ground brush pulling the eye up to the set of trees, the 2 corners balanced with sky/snow. Remove that one clump of leaves top left. Probably impossible to get the camera position with needed lens perspective but it’s fun to pick out compositions from a wide view. That ending shot is beautiful.

I miss the snow sometimes too. Two February's ago I had to fly back home to WI for a quick one day up and back. That morning it was -10 F (-23 C) at 10am. Brrrr... 🥶 (I found a new bit of vocabulary that morning 😂) Can anyone really get sick of Little Mountain? (no, they cannot) On your first comp, I too liked the green mossy trees rather than the snowy one. Maybe if you did a black and white conversion?, might be different. But yeah looks like you had a little fog in that one. I really liked that manzanita tree at the end. Actually I liked both of the manzanita shots best out of all of them. Glad you got to play in the snow. Thanks for the video Adam! 🌳

Adam, I really appreciate the beautiful work with the snow and the contrast with the Arbutus. You have a keen eye and artistic point of view. You touched briefly on the Shimoda pack and I was wondering if you could expand on that from a mountaineering / backpacking perspective. I would rather know about comfort for carrying on extended backwoods trips from someone who has "been there, and done that" than a gear reviewer. The problem is always... do we get a true backpack from Osprey, Gregory et. al and wedge camera gear into it, (much more comfortable and designed for carrying on trail. OR, get a camera backpack ( a camera bag with shoulder straps) and endure the pain?
@QuietLightPhoto3 жыл бұрын
I find the Shimoda packs to be very comfortable. They're very much like the top end mountaineering packs except built for photography in mind. Much of the design features come from feedback from the people that use them so they do listen to their customers. I use both the 70 and 50L versions and haven't had any issues or complaints. Price might be a factor for some as the prices on camera packs tend to be higher.
@jimowens81053 жыл бұрын
@@QuietLightPhoto I like to carry my tripod head down in the side pouch. Since we are using the same geared head, will it fit in the side pouch of the Shimoda X-50L?

I've somewhat given up on going to the same spot over and over again thinking that the scene will have somehow improved. Now I go farther up the trail or to a totally different spot. There are so many different scenes out there that there is no reason to waste time on a scene that isn't going to improve. Now that being said I will go back if I have a different idea or technique to try that might work at that spot

I absolutely love snow but I think the first composition worked better without snow because of the colour contrast between orange trees and the green mosses. Great shots nonetheless. Thanks for your vlogs and your thoughts on this.

It's the only zoom lens that Fuji has that covers the range between 64mm and 100mm. It is a brilliant lens. Most used for me is the 32-64mm followed by the 45-100mm. GFX 100s great choice!

I think that with snow, also because I’ve been out shooting in the woods with snow as well recently, the name of the game is simplicity... a lot of snow and preferable one item of contrast as the subject in the scene. Anything else just becomes too busy...
