Perfect FD!!!! best you compression test the engine when hot, make sure you haven got worn side apex seals or tip seals.Normal compression - 110-150 PSI Minimum acceptable pressure - 75 PSI Maximum acceptable pressure difference between chambers - 20 PSI If below 75 you will have hot start issues deffo. Love the yellow very rare, I have live in the UK and have a RH drive version, in yellow.

Adam, I feel stupid saying this to an FD driver but any time I have gotten in a car with a tough clutch, I just let the pedal out as slowly as i possibly can the first 2 or 3 times, youll feel the grab point after that. I havent ever stalled anything using that trick, literally just release as slowly as humanly possible from a start a few times.

@@TameToothSGA I'd say it's most likely going to be a nut and bolt restoration with an extremely well sorted 20b. Not too powerful where it spins and scares you, not so slow where it feels underwhelming. That seems to be Adams focus these days.. Something that grips non stop with responsive throttle and a usable power throughout the power band.

I guarantee you, the car feeling slow/laggy is because of the Charge Control Actuator is sticking. The CCA controls a sort of throttle plate inside the Y-pipe, that joins the boosted air in both turbos before it goes into the intercooler. When the CCA gets stuck, you can feel the car still has good bottom end power, but after 4500rpm when the second turbo should come in - feels like it takes ages to get to redline. The Charge Control Actuator getting stuck is also a bad thing for the secondary turbo, because Mazda designed the FD's sequential system to have the secondary turbo operate "in surge" under low RPM and at WOT so that it has power all through the RPM range. I had this issue on a few FD's I've owned and the fix is to remove the Y-pipe and disassemble the CCA and clean it all up and also look at the vacuum solenoid that controls it, which sits under the intake manifold. I've bought a lot of FD's for cheap because a lot of people thought their FD had a blown turbo or motor because it felt lazy - turns out it just needs some TLC and addressing the CCA.
