I was feeling better than ever at Road Atlanta - and was definitely bummed about what happened. I cannot stress enough that I do not fault Field or the judges - but I do think the judging system needs to be changed for calls like this.
Every $5 spent on LZMFG.com or DriftHQ.com gets you entered for a chance to win our F80 M3 and $15,000 cash.

See 26:11. right after contact, adam lifts. This unweights the car and rotates. Notice he gets back in it only to prevent the spin. This is liftoff oversteer. It was entirely elective, the incident didn't almost cause a spin. Best of luck to both of em.
@DeficatingBum
@DeficatingBum 7 күн бұрын
@james95050 watched and rewatched that exact moment you can completely see the disruption not only on his car but in his steering wheel. Your blind if you couldn't see it not only that he shows the damage on his car which was on the outside edge of the bumper not the flat edge it 100% affects the rotation and your just ignoring physics if you disagree

@21:43 he knew there was slight contact. He just clutched in, and quit. That’s weakling you ask me, but I’m also not into drifting really (so idk the exact rules of this). In my view the contact couldn’t have been more slight, and had Adam known that field messed up his chase I bet he would’ve finished the run. Yup, Field was out the moment he straightened so shouldn't even have been trying to get back on chase. Absolutely terrible call by the judges to give him the win after considering he was out, decides to continue and impedes the lead driver. I think they take exception to drivers who aren't competing full season. Bad calls at Long beach with Connor vs Tuerk where they re-ran it for some strange reason. Hate the judging at FD.

FD needs an independent judging agency reviewing these battles. It’s not ethical to have their own judges. Opens the doors for biased results. Totally agree with you Adam, they had some weird calls this event with collisions. If this continues I feel it will only encourage the chase drivers to hit the lead cars. I get that taps are expected in drifting, but when a car is in transition it is very hard to predict what effects a collision can have on the car. I just cant see how they could have ruled in favor of Matt with the glaring mistakes he had in the chase. Happy you got some good testing for orlando though, you seem happy and comfortable with the car. An impressive feat for running your own program again. Don't let this get you down, you had a very impressive showing for the cars new "big power" setup. So excited to see how you do in Driftmasters. I agree that giving the win to Field was the wrong call, but Rome got hit once on the rear and then immediately hit again in the front sending him straight off the first turn. The judges said the same about that incident too. If the chase driver can just throw the lead driver off track and get the win the rules and judging are flawed, seriously flawed.

It’s Matt (FD favourite) Field, always the same with him. The judges have their favourites like field and Odi, and it showed last night big time. The crash with Rome was a shocker that even after Odi hit him twice and the second being on his back wheel and they said he could have and should have kept drifting is just a shocking statement. It’s a joke because they could have reviewed like they over turned the Connor and Ryan result in long beach.

Even the announcers knew that was weird and said Field “hung” you. Which is crazy because most of the time the announcers have no clue wtf they’re talking about. Note - To further this, this is why I like Driftmasters camera equipment more, slo-mo cameras everywhere on track, in car live video feeds for the judges to see what the drivers are doing. Quite clear how that hit on Adam left the wheel to get caught mid transition, causing him not to be able to transition.

Adam is too kind. 99% of people would be livid with how bad that judge call was. No wonder more and more pro level drivers are leaving FD and going to Drift Masters. If I were Adam I would pull out of Orlando and all other FD events. Absolutely joke of a series lately. You can even tell by watching the judges that they can barely see what's going on. They have tiny tablets in full direct sunlight. How can they even make calls? Their commentary on it after the fact is all you need to hear about how bad the judging system (and honestly these bogus judges). "I don't think the contact was enough to disrupt." Where do they find these judges? What's their seat time? Have they been in a situation identical to what happened here? Wild BS from Formula D. Matt's chase run was absolute garbage and he was playing catch up the whole time until he rear ended LZ. Like how can you say their chase runs were similar??!?!

I sadly saw the FD mod in the chat actively arguing that you should have just continued and spun, too. I can understand where that thought comes from, that the contact should be made clear, but driver and car safety are far more important. Putting yourself in a dangerous and compromised position by knowingly spinning after contact is WAY more dangerous than safely shutting down. Also, I think you're right on the suggestion to use the G meter as an indicator for what is and isn't an impact. Even better would be a combination of the g meters and in-car cameras. Giving judges the insanely difficult job of trying to figure out just how much impact is too much impact with essentially zero data is unfair to everyone, and especially the judges forced to make the call. They're essentially blindly making the call, and that's not their fault.

Agree with you Adam, Even if the chaser car only touches slightly from the back or side when drifting or switching, they should calculate a safe distance or be very close but not touch. It is true that the judges do a very difficult job, but it is very unfortunate that judging at this very prestigious international drifting event, when there are cases that look "strange and doubtful" the racers are not given the opportunity for OMT, if this opportunity is used it will result in different race results. can satisfy all parties. Proud of you dude.. keep the spirit. 🔥🔥🔥
