You know what, no offense to you...but I'm tired of this type of disingenuous and false idea, this type of "gotcha" attempt to insinuate that people always take female victims or male perps seriously. Because no they absolutely still don't in the real world and even often in the media...even in the me too age, most girls and women are NOT believed and do NOT get justice. Most rape kits in this country are never even tested because the police cannot be bothered. Child marriage is still legal in many states, and guess what sex the victims usually are? Countless cases in my OWN life where everyone knew the creep was messing with a teenage girl and did nothing. I'm glad the world is waking up to male victims of grooming and SA...but it's complete crap to dismiss how ignored female victims have always been and CONTINUE to be in the real world by saying things like, "if he was a girl that guy would be in JAIL" or something. Is Onision in jail? Is Shane Dawson in jail?

@otiphanyv
@otiphanyv Жыл бұрын
It’s a developmental stage, and a really important one! Adolescents need to separate from their nuclear families and find community with peers - it is a psychological necessity. An easy pathway to differentiation/separation is anger; tantrums perform a similar function for toddlers, literally defining the boundaries between themselves/their needs and the outside world. Hormones and the fact that the prefrontal cortex is still super malleable play a big role here, too, because they make feelings that might otherwise feel trivial feel *huge*. It’s wonderful as an adult to reflect on the ways you’ve grown, and to make amends or forgive yourself and others where necessary. But please don’t break your own heart too much. I use those memories to inform my empathy toward teens, to create healthy boundaries with them, and to extend them grace when I can - I also do this for a living, so I get to see the emotional development happen in real time all the time! I try to extend it to adults, too, because a lot of us stop developing emotionally in child- or teenhood if we encounter trauma or begin cycles of addiction. We can recover and begin to develop adult skills at any time, but it helps me deal with difficult people to remember that when they get dysregulated, I’m probably actually talking to their upset kid selves who are just trying to get their needs met.

She then talked down to Trisha about the fact that she ended up with a c section, telling Trisha how great she felt after her vaginal birth and how c sections don't really have the same experience. I honestly felt bad for Trisha for a second, then realized it was her fault for going on Colleen's channel in the first place. you don’t like to have trisha to acknowledge that it was not cool to do. “it was her fault for going on the show” how was she to know she would be disrespected on camera? it sets precedent. how do we differentiate between “they deserved” or “they didn’t?” if coleen had done that to NOT trisha, would it be somehow worse? ignore that it’s trisha - you don’t talk down on how someone birthed their own baby from their own body. it’s like only choosing to respect the pronouns of someone you like. things like this shouldn’t be conditional.

For Christmas she got her brother and sister in law and all their kids Disneyland tickets and she kept saying “I PAID for my family to go to Disney for christmas” over and over in so many vlogs like Girl just say “my family & I are going to Disney” it doesn’t matter who paid

No one was looking for this stuff at the beginning, now people question and think critically about creators and she's just shocked that she is being held accountable. You're right about normalising "holding a grudge." Forgiveness can be very toxic, and is often used as a weapon to use and manipulate empathetic and compassionate people. In a world that constantly encourages us to be forgiving and taking the high road, be proud to protect yourself and be unforgiving.

Forgiveness isn’t meant to be for anybody else but yourself. It also doesn’t mean that what someone did was okay or that you’ll forget about what happened. It’s essentially a way to no longer allow something or someone to negatively impact you and your emotions/life anymore. With that being said, I do agree that nobody should feel forced or pressured to forgive, and holding grudges is normal and part of the process!
@cosmosadorabilis7677

@@Raya-ir4tm letting people continuously abuse you and take advantage of you, is the best way to kill humanity in yourself. I also never said that showing love or forgiveness was weakness. I don't know in what world you live in, but in mine I was always admonested to forgive or else I would be labelled as bitter. The idea that you MUST forgive has been embedded into us from a young age either to make peace, or " for yourself". As if forgiveness was some sort of panacea, or some bleaching agent that could clean us from pain and resentment. Be as forgiving as you want, but the idea that the world encourages us to be ruthless isn't true at all. People will pressure you into forgiving those who hurt you, without any consideration for your own feelings.
@cosmosadorabilis7677

@@bornthiswhey this has nothing to do with that, and dealing with trauma is way more complicated. Forgiving my abusers would not alleviated my pain but being unforgiving lets me keep tougher boundaries and forces me to keep my bar high when it comes to what constitutes a valuable human being. Being unforgiving doesn't meant holding onto the hurt, it doesn't mean getting revenge or trying to. It means you have finally become more descerning, and realise forgiveness isn't automatically going to make you feel better, nor is it something everyone deserves. But it didn't take long before I just got annoyed by her. She comes across so fake & you can tell the person she portrays herself to be online is a character. & I'm not talking about Miranda Sings... what Colleen did to you was wrong & i think it's pretty freaking cool that you're now able to see that & are telling your story, giving your insights into the way these influencers manipulate their stans. It's gonna help so many people & I will totally be showing my kids this so they understand why these influencers they idolize are *not* people to look up to.

Adam, you should be so, so proud of yourself and how intelligent and strong you were at every stage of this situation from your early teens to now. I work with kids, and I really distrust “cool adults” because they are the most likely to prey upon youth. Eventually, the Cool Adult uses emotional rewards to get the student to feed their ego. Instead of the adult being focused on the needs of the youth, they are focused on more selfish concerns. It always starts very small, and even if it never progresses to full on CSA, it’s manipulative and sets the stage for youth to engage in repetitive cycles of these relationships with other people. As someone who is Colleen’s age, I’m sorry this happened to you. I’m so glad you had such amazing advocates in your parents and that you trusted them enough to break away from the person taking advantage of you to meet her own needs. Also, minor thing, but try not to down your teenage self emotionally or physically. You were still growing into the person you are today - in fact, you’re still growing into the person you will be. One day, you’ll look back and see your light and your strength and you’ll appreciate 16-you much more than you can now. Try to be patient with yourself as you get there.

Colleen needs to be called out for more than her "fundraisers" lack of transparency. In Colleen and Erik’s Relax podcast she has been inappropriate with sharing information about their young son. Relax podcast episode 77, Colleen discusses their 3 year old son's song about his privates. Erik (Colleen’s husband) then proceeds to take the child’s song and directly sing a song derived from his sons about his own (Erik’s) privates in regards to Colleen and Erik when they first met.YIKES! In Relax podcast episode 38, Colleen and Erik included actual audio and video of their 3 year old son’s fears of going to the bathroom. Both exploitative and wrong. This is so wrong on so many levels and is still available to hear. Its all out there, I hope you do a video on this.
