While Nicko has some respect in the rock drumming world, he's definitely not considered "one of the best drummers ever", and he himself would likely agree. Gadd, Weckl, Vinnie, Dennis Chambers, Buddy Rich, Peart, Bonham, Bozzio, Thomas Lang, Matt Garstka, Benny Greb, Tony Williams, Virgil Donati, Jojo Mayer, Chris Coleman, Omar Hakim, Manu Katche, Elvin Jones, Steve Smith, Todd Sucherman, Philly Joe Jones, Tony Royster Jr., Gavin FUCKING Harrison, Danny Carey and on and on of drummers Nicko himself would honestly tell you he can't approach playing wise.

one of the reasons why maiden is so extremely cool is nicko. a rock-metal-jazz-funk-drummer. home in every of these styles, he combines the best of everything to his own special very powerfull but also easy and relaxed style. combined with the rest of the Band an explosive combination. ***** Nicko's set-up is anything BUT a classic 80's metal set-up. Every 80's metal drummer played two bassdrums, two or four tom-toms and one or two floor-toms. Nicko was one of the very few, maybe the only metal drummer who played with just one bassdrum. Look at the positioning of his Ride Cymbal and the toms, look how low he sits behind the kit. Anything McBrain is very unusual. Seems like you don't know much about drums.

Nicko, my name is Jeff & you were one of my favorite drummers as I was learning way back in the day. I went to see you guys at a place called the Capitol Center in Washington D.C some 30 years ago & all my friends & myself got good seats, but I was there to see you, so I went to your left side & when you guys were done I yelled" hey Nicko, I'm your biggest fan, could I please get a stick or 2 from you" & you said you had thrown them all out to the audience. I was a little bummed out & you said, hold on I'll see what I can do. Well I waited a while & one of the security guards said, get the hell out of here you punk kid & I told him you said you'd be right back. Well you know how security guards are, he said leave our we'll whoop your ass. Lol. So I left, but no matter, you were still my hero & had a great influence on the way I played. I still play, but I crushed my L1 vertabre in my back & it cut into my spinal cord, I also suffered a traumatic brain injury, but God is Great!!! I can walk just not quite the same. Lol. & I don't sleep much, I'm in to much pain, but I'm alive! & I fell asleep for a couple hours & woke up about 3am. & for some reason I picked up my phone & somehow by the Grace of God, I stumbled across you on someone else's channel. The point is, it brought back some fond memories & how much I loved your playing. I'm so thankful the Lo5saw it fit for me to see this tonight & the lack of sleep was well worth it. I'm so happy your alive & doin well & I sure will be praying for you to have a lot more time to come! GodBless You Nicko! You made a huge difference in my life & I'll never forget you till the day that I die. Oh & may the Lord Bless you & your family, all the days of your lives.
