I wish I could take all those interested in becoming a pharmacist to work with me. So you can really have full information on the (retail) pharmacy profession. I love what I do so much , but the corporations don’t make it easy with the metrics they add. The favorite part of my job is counseling and giving immunizations. The worst part is having my stomach growling and holding my pee while I’m doing it lol because I can not take a break ! I also love being a drug expert , and having the knowledge , But few respect us. My advice is listen to ACTUAL pharmacists before making that huge decision on your career path. If you absolutely love pharmacy, go ahead and pursue your dreams, But beware , we are in a transition period in pharmacy. I’m glad I became a pharmacist before it became this way.

I’m 22 turning 23 in December and I feel like I’m starting this pharmacy path so late... :( I really want to do this but I’m also thinking about if I want to get married and have kids that I plan on waiting until after I’m done with school but by that time, I’ll be 30 or 31 and that’s supposedly old. Any advice?

Jasmin Wade I started pharmacy school when I was 22, graduated at 26. I had lots of classmates who started at 32, graduated at 36. With that being said , don’t look at age ! You never know what might happen, as long as you’re moving forward with your journey , things will fall into place. Everyone is on their own journey so don’t compare yourself to anyone and let it stop you ☺️

I see no different between u and 19 teens which is the age we start college at. Plus 31 for marriage and kids is not LATE omg. Just do what u love and it’s fine few of my batch married with high GPAS

Pharmacy is not worth it anymore, the stress, responsibilities and people these days...everybody thinks they know better then you because they have seen it on the internet...It would be fine if you could own your own pharmacy, but these chains, and later on maybe even amazon getting into the field and making it a drugstore...it ts a horrible future. First the technician will loose job because of the automation that is developing every day, then the pharmacists...If I had to choose again, I would go study medicine, or dentistry... I am from Slovakia.

medicine and dentistry would always be the better bet than being pharmacists. Honestly, the future is in tech. Machine learning, artificial intelligence, robotics, data scientist. if you combine one of those with a MBA, you are gold.

I’m a pharmacist. This career is in quick decline. This a very long story but don’t do it!! Before you apply to any pharmacy program go to talk to a practicing pharmacist. Between major chains and PBMs and automation it is next to impossible to find a job. Sure you will run into those unicorn jobs that only handful of PharmDs have. But BY FAR most will tell you. Don’t do it. It was good 15-20 years ago. Not anymore. Good video, but just shining light on life behind all the white coats and facade.

@@krystinasaragos1535 not a pharmacist, but after doing some research the main reason theres some decline because there's oversaturation of pharmacists and jobs are decreasing due to people ordering medications online. Meanwhile, pharmacy schools keep on graduating more students into a saturated market. If this is your dream go for it, but go in it with your eyes wide open and expect no guarantees.

Please do not advertise $100,000/yr career any more. Salaries and hours have been going down and people who graduate as pharmacists today will be lucky to hit the $100,000/yr milestone, while burdened by $200,000+ student loans on their back.
