Those who are suffering from IBS must analyze their current diet and cut out the grains, carbs, fructose, and excess insoluble fiber. it's an industry misinformation campaign to promote more fiber. It causes wrongful bacterial growth in the large intestine/colon.

About 6 months ago, I was experiencing the symptoms of SIBO. After reading that the bacteria feed off of carbohydrates, I put myself on a diet of only meat and fats; i.e., no carbs of any kind. In a few weeks, all of the symptoms disappeared. Since then, I have started the keto diet in order to lose some weight and I still have no SIBO symptoms. Ironic isn't it. After being diagnosed with diabetes and deciding to try low carb I saw a dietician (Australia) who works in hospitals. I took in my food diary and she told me I wasn't eating enough carbs. I come home and did my online checking and decided to cancel my follow up appointment and continue with what I was doing. I emailed her my much improved blood test results at the 3 months mark after reducing carbs. Yes, I had remitted my diabetes in that short period of time.

@@jobrown8146 Nutritionists are indoctrinated into the food pyramid, which has been questioned by many, especially low carb followers. When I clocked in with an A1C of 10.1, my PCP sent me to a ADA nutritionist. We did not get along as I told her that eating carbs seemed to contribute to my T2 diabetes & she was recommending 60 grams of carbs at every meal. As an aside, even when the food pyramid first came out, I questioned how one could consume so many servings of grains (let alone everything else).

@@jobrown8146, similarly here, in Australia, sent to a dietitian when my fasting levels reached 7. I wasn't going to put up with that. My father had the same problems in his early 70s and the dietitians advice was low fat, trim all fat off meat, drink skim milk, use vegetable oils and margarine, and get your protein from grains and eat fruit and vegetables, he never really improved, just slowly went backwards. I've lost 20kgs, blood fasting levels have gone down to 5.5. Cut out most carbs, starchy vegetables, grains vegetable oils and especially added sugar. I must say I do enjoy bacon and eggs for breakfast and meat rich evening meal. I try to do at least a 14 hour fast and in that time I do a 5km walk across the causeway at Victor Harbor and walk around Granite Island at or before sunrise each morning when I am home. Dumping the carbs and junk food has been wonderful.

Yes, most people eat fruits and vegetables. And yes, most of them do have digestion issues. Bloating, cramps, gas, constipation, diarrhea... about one out of three people suffers from each of those individually, meaning it's very rare to find a person without at least one issue! All my life I suffered from serious versions of all of these... until I stopped eating plants over six years ago. My N of 1 During the extreme lockdown here in the Philippines, January 2021 I was obese type 2, 94Kg/207lbs, (I’m only 5’6”) with pre-diabetes and high blood pressure. I was suffering from metabolic syndrome. I understood the comorbidity I had as a 57 year old would greatly affect me if I contracted the Rona. I had to lose fat, reverse hypertension, reverse my NAFLD and reduce my HbA1c. Sitting in my armchair at the beginning of lockdown I saw that the keto/ketovore/carnivore diet claimed it could ‘cure’ my ailments. I watched a bunch of videos and tried to understand the linked papers supporting the claims. End result was that it simply made a lot of sense to me. After procrastinating for a couple of weeks I saw a video by Ken D Berry, MD where he said ‘Just do it’! … so I did 🤓 8 months later, whilst still sitting in my armchair (most of the time). I had lost the 30kg/66lbs of fat that was required to get me down to a ‘normal’ BMI, I GREATLY improved my blood pressure to the point it raised my wife’s eyebrows, she’s a First Responder. My blood sugar was well back in to the ‘normal’ range and I vastly reduced inflammation. I also reversed IBS that had controlled my life for 40 years (I lost jobs because of it), got rid of decades long debilitating heartburn, my Testosterone went up drastically and I stopped snoring … my wife is happy 🤓 I was ‘foggy’ & forgetful, possible early stage MCI, I sometimes also slurred my words and forgot what I was talking about mid sentence, this has completely reversed! Undiagnosed but recognised by my family I got out of a bad case of lockdown depression. A few months ago I further decided to cut out most vegetables from my meat heavy Keto WOE, only adding on occasion a little onion, garlic, green peppers and tomato for some flavour… always salting to taste. Improvements are continuing with a pace with better mental health, blood markers, skin condition etc. Most recently I have noticed pain improving in my back associated with osteoporosis in my lower spine. Also I am using old prescription glasses as I can see through them better, possible eyesight improvement? Simply eating nutrient dense meat, HEAVY in animal fat, eggs, seafood, salmon … single ingredient real food is all it took … Whilst cutting out processed food, sugar/carbohydrates and seed/‘vegetable’ oils and most dairy. We THRIVE when eating our evolved, species specific Proper Human Diet along with some intermittent fasting to mimic the way our ancestors survived. I’m sure there are thousands upon thousands of people that have similar anecdotal stories to tell … Please tell them … get the message out there!

I am thankful for doctors that are willing to tell the truth. I am a retired RN and former vegan. I followed my MD’s advice for years and my health continued to deteriorate. In desperation, I tried keto this year and in a few months have reversed my DM2, Gerd, Hyperlipidemia and IBS with a ketogenic diet. I’m off all diabetic, Gerd and hld meds in just a few months of starting keto. I’m losing weight and feel better than I have in years. Frankly, I’m angry at the scientific community for promoting drugs and food for profit at the expense of human beings. As a hospice nurse, I literally was at the bedsides of thousands of people as they died prematurely from heart disease and diabetes for the almighty dollar.

yeah. we're the polar bears. we eat meat. apes only eat 5% meat . Also both orang utans and chimpanzees eat mostly fruit and 30% fibre. no vegetables. none at all. vegetable aren't even correct botanical terminology Imagine eating 5-40 pound of fibre a day. because that's what ape eat. that would kill a man. and it has killed people. you know why? because we're not herbivores.

I can say from my own personal experience of eating mostly vegetarian and fruits for several years that I didn’t feel better, was bloated, hungry, fatigued and probably heading towards insulin resistance but after going carnivore I have lost weight, am not on any medication except a natural thyroid medicine for hypothyroidism and I’m getting my energy back. I feel good eating the ancestral way ( before farming) and I will listen to people’s views but how I feel tells me which way is best.

N=1. Pleased to hear that changing your diet has improved your health. I noticed very quickly that my sleep quality improved so it wasn't related to losing fat, but possibly might have been related to fluid. I'm very thankful for the videos and comments (people telling their story of how it worked for them) that I found when I was first diagnosed with diabetes and decided it was worth trying for 3 months to see if it would work. It did and it's my 2 year anniversary in 3 days' time.

@@johannas.l.brushane2518Appreciate your comment, it is obvious we have a digestive system akin to carnivores. With that said, Dr. Westman mention in the video that maybe he should do a video on the difference between apes and humans to clarify the subject. I think we have all heard vegans argue we are related to apes and they do just fine on a plant based diet so we should too... which just demonstrates their ignorance on the differences in anatomy.

I was vegetarian for over 20 years and I considered myself as having normal digestion and bowels. It wasn't until I went low carb that I realised having 3 bowel motions every morning, one of which was normal and the other two were border-line diarrhea, was not normal. Seeing stuff in the pan that I ate from the previous night was not a particularly good indication of gut health. There was no way I was digesting much of those plants or getting nutrients from them! I was vegan for only 7 months and that gave me IBS. Fortunately it resolved quickly when I stopped being vegan. I often hear from vegetarians and vegans with similar symptoms, yet they often think it is normal. I'm now about 90-95% carnivore and I no longer have any issues.

Opinion definitely doesn't make something a fact. I didn't know if low carb would work for me (diabetes) but I watched a lot of videos and read the comments of many people who said it worked for them and that it worked quickly that I decided that 3 months of changing my diet was worth trying. I remitted my diabetes and I've also lost 22.5% of my starting weight and many other benefits. And it's my 2 year anniversary of low carb in 3 days' time!

5’7”. I am 65 years old. After 6 months on a Keto diet here is the result. Heartburn gone Dry flakey skin gone Body itching gone Sensing things crawling on my skin or hair gone Heart palpitation gone Always some black heads somewhere on my face. gone A bump, ingrown hair on my leg for years just suddenly came off. Poof, gone. My morning breath is not so annoying that I can’t wait to brush the sucker. I Lightheadedness, gone. There was a strange, odd itch on the side of my left foot. I inherited it from my ex wife. she got it from someone else, it would appear every so often, gone. Bleeding gums here and there I used to get when flossing, gone Back pain, neck pain especially when I get up in the morning, gone. Glass/shard in my elbows gone, I just don’t seem to notice any hemorrhage, gone Dandruff gone Restless leg syndrome, gone. ===================================== Feeling of comfort inside my body at all times. I tolerate cold and hot weather far better. Very interesting. I get up less often at night to urinate. In fact I only woke up once last night. I say wow. Unlike before when my feet hurt after walking for a mile or two, I can walk for miles and miles without any pain whatsoever. I don’t feel bogged down.. Just a fresher energy. The air feels better and my mood is simply much lighter and better. Sleep is much more restful if I am not disturbed by whatever it may be. Eyes look more clear. Both of my nostrils are evenly open… I can breath from both nicely. I don’t get cuts easily. Stronger skin. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- HDL-C went from 40 to 75 Triglycerides went from 225 to 49 A1C dropped from 5.7 to 5.3. Not sure how long I have had high blood glucose. Weight loss without hardship, 210 to 170 lbs. Average blood pressure dropped from 140/90 to 120/75 ================================================= The so-called bad: Total cholesterol from 183 to 491 LDL-C from 104 to 350 GIVEN EVERYTHING YOU HAVE READ DO YOU THINK I CARE ABOUT THE LAST TWO NUMBERS…..

My heartburn and joint pain disappeared once I eliminated all sugars, starchy vegetables, processed foods and yes, even fruits. I tried taking away only processed foods, thinking maybe it could be the additives and dyes that are used to making these yummy foods but found although that did help, it did not fix my health issues. I then removed all starchy foods and then eventually all fruits and all raw vegetables and that seemed to do the trick. I now eat only protein for the most part, like lots of salmon, tuna, kippers, beef, venison, and eggs. I have also omitted pork because I found it was too rich for me to digest. My doctor does not agree with my carnivore diet, although I do eat cooked cruciferous vegetables occassionally because I enjoy them, and thinks I should follow the Sad diet, DASH diet or Mediterranean diet but he can't argue with me when I point out that my heartburn and painful twisting in my intestines has disappeared. I feel and look healthy and my numbers are great. Why do some people feel that one diet is the only diet to follow and theirs is the only way? One thing I would like to point out to Gogiman is that nature does not provide fresh fruits and vegetables during the winter months and that our ancestors lived on the available animal source that was available in their area. When meat was scarce, then were forced to fast. We only have all of these fruits (which are extremely high in sugars) and vegetables now because man has been able to bring these into the diet because of current available transportation.

What is a "nutritionist?" When I passed my test long ago, we were "Registered Dietitians" (RD) and many states had licensing laws so we were also "Licensed Dietitians" (LD in Ohio). Now RDs can also call ourselves "Registered Dietitian Nutritionist" (RDN). In Ohio, as with most states, if you attempt to provide nutritional counseling services, you can be charged with violating state licensure laws. The exceptions are physicians and some trained nurses. I am a firm supporter of eating unprocessed foods and a low CHO diet, or keto diet depending on one's needs.

yes, it's interesting as most have been educated into an accepted paradigm, which may be false. I know some earlier Keto videos sorta told students to follow the evidence and treat accordingly.
