I didn't know those quad breakers existed. This will save me from having to upgrade my main load center to accommodate more circuits. Thank You!

Check your loadcenters some only allow tandem breakers on the bottom half. It will be listed on the tag inside or on the cover.

Thanks for the great info. I checked my panel and it states “sum of qt breaker rating not to exceed 100 amps per branch circuit bus stab” so I believe I am in good shape. Greatly appreciated.

Only if your panel supports “tandem” breakers. By support I mean more than if the breaker fits.

How did you know if you were not overloading this panel and that it was able to handle a additional 60 amp breaker without tripping the main panel ?

dual 50 A additional! Did you make a calculation of the total capacity for the new continuous load or just kept your fingers crossed? Good job otherwise, especially that long 6 G wire fishing that had to be a lot of fun!

Thanks for post, I’m always learning especially from these comments. My panel states “sum of breaker rating not to exceed 100 amps per branch circuit bus stub”. Good there. I just used an online load calculator and got 165 amps. Box is a 200 amp box. Have natural gas hot water, dryer, stove, and heat which helps along with all led lighting, etc. I think I’m good, however, should have a pro look it over. Yes, it was an all day job fishing the wire, results are 100% of wire in walls and ceilings. Fun for me!

Thanks for the video and great job! Can you share the part number of that quad breaker? (Yes, I know it has to match the mfg of the Load Center make.)

Thanks. Ordered on Amazon for $45 back in April 2021. Surprised to see it now listed for $42! Part listed as “Siemens Q24040CT2 Two 40-Amp Double Pole Circuit Breaker”.

@@edshandymantips4862 Got it. The suffix CT2, the numeral 2 is the key, such that the outer 2 CBs are linked as well. ( I had only used the CT type in the past.)

Do these breakers exist for type QO breakers? Need a 20- & 30-amp combo.

Jerry - I was not able to find one using my sources. Does not mean it does not exist. The do make QO 15/15 and 20/20 tandems. Perhaps this can free up space for a full 30 amp QO unless you already have a box full of tandems.
