The bank closed the old one due to fraudulent activity. How do I transfer exactly the same amount from the bank statement since there are unclear transactions? That is great information. My problem is our bank sold to another bank and I need to consolidate or merge the two accounts. I have existing bank all reconciled. I have not added the new one yet. I am helping our son. I am nervous about moving forward as we are at the same bank. I had added the new one. I had the old one and the new one all reconciled through November. I went to accountant to get a few questions answered and she consolidated them. I didn't notice until I got home and I was now very much in the negative. One youtube sounded like that could be a problem, but didn't clarify. Can you help me or refer me to the correct KZbin. Thank you

Thank you. I recently needed to do this plus transfer money from the new account into the old acct to cover some of the PPP Loan costs (long story). Anyway I think I can actually use this method to show the deposit from the new account into the old account. My deposit I did was way off. lol

New to Quickbooks. I am managing two property companies for myself and dad. . When I was setting up the two companies didn't separate the two bushiness (since then, I have corrected my mistake, now listed under separate businesses). Before the separation, I entered expenses on one of dad's property and I have selected expenses and properties to be "inactive". Theses expenses still appears in my business On Chart of Accounts under Accounts Payable. How can I clear this mistake and remove expenses and possible conflicts? Thanks

How do you change a bank password on a bank account that is already in your chart of accounts for Direct Connection?

You would need to go into the chart of accounts and turn the bank feed off. Then re-sync it. Candus

Okay, I was able to follow your steps to transfer the funds; however, I could not produce an actual check using that method. The new account I am opening is in a different bank, so I need an actual check to deposit. Am I missing a step or otherwise doing something wrong?

Huntington Bank bought out First Merit Bank. So I am not opening or closing accounts, but need to be able to connect and download bank feed to new account. I understand how to set up a new bank account - but how do I "continue" all the old to the new? Thank you in advance

I do have QB Pro 2015. I wasn't sure if I should 1. deactivate old accounts 2. change bank account info (but not sure if I can since it is a new bank not just new account numbers) 3. then activiate new account info OR please clarify what you are saying.....what do you mean "remove the previous bank feed" - ?? I don't want to get rid of the register and history of First Merit I just want to continue the register and add to the history as Huntington is doing that - we have a history and are adding to it in the new accounts. Thanks for this tip. I have followed the steps to transfer funds from the closed account to the new account. However, when I reconcile the bank statement. It is pulling over transactions for the following month when I view the reconciliation detail. At the bottom of the print out it shows new transactions and the ending balance does not match my reconciled balance.

During the process, there was one transaction that our a/p program tried to process but because the former account was closed they stated they would void the payment and that we were to re-enter the payment and select the new bank. This transaction that keeps pulling over in the reconciliation is the new payment.

Candus Kampfer I would say yes, when a sync the program with Quick books the new invoice appear. So that I wouldn't get the voided invoices confused we added an "r" to the invoice we had to re-enter

Thanks for the reply! I'm not connecting them directly. But having started this process, my thinking is to just put all of the transactions into the current bank account. It seems me that the separate reconciliations will work. I'm a programmer and stingy with my data. The bank account belongs to the organization, not the bank, and all of the transactions need to be recorded and reconciled, so why use more than one account? Do you see any pitfalls? And thanks for the tip about using a deposit to accomplish this.

Anil, Yes, you can create more than one company file in QB by clicking on file, new company. If you have the accountant version you can have two companies open at the same time. Candus
