No if you have newer tv the has hdmi 2.1 that can do 120hz. It should have a optical out on the back and your receiver should an optical in. Then you’ll be able to run it at 4K 120hz.

If you have Bluetooth audio devices. Check to see if your tv can sync with it. I’m surprised how TV’s have that feature. And no one relies. You can use your controller’s mic too. Or a compatible usb microphone.

I bought one of these off Amazon yesterday, should be arriving today to work with my Turtle Beach PX4s. The only difference is the Mic is through the 3.5mm jack, so it will be interesting to see how it works, or if it does at all! Just waiting for the pulse to come back into stock....

I have a question: I love my older Marantz home theater, but it only has Optical/Toslink for digital audio input. That was fine for my PS4 Pro (the Pro had an Optical-out option) but I just got a PS5 today and see it doesn’t have an Optical Out. So I bought the Astro on a whim cuz I saw it at Best Buy and want to convert the PS5’s HDMI to Optical. Oh yeah hook up the hdmi straight to the tv. Then go to settings on ps5. Then go to system hdmi and turn off the option for HC Whatever whatever. It’s the 3rd option down I think. And make sure the audio extractor is getting power. The ac dc adapter for mine would go out.

Awesome, I was about to buy a new receiver since mine (AVR x1000) doesn't support 4k HDR and since Sony thought it was wise to remove optical connector (stupid) this is an awesome workaround, so I can sent video 4kHDR to my QLED and the Audio via toslink/optical to my current reciever. @@robertmurray4826 So today I was lucky and could order a PS5. I know that the PS5 has no optical output :/. I'm still using my Turtle Beach P11 from PS3 (Ik super old but I love this headset). But because it was made for PS3 the mixer didn't work bc I couldn't plug the jack plug into the PS4. Later i found a Digital to Analog Converter Which allows me to plug the headset into the optical output. Been using it for years and never had a problem + works like a charm. The adapter only supports HDMI 2.0 and not 2.1 thus capping the PS5 at 60 hz. Once I removed the adapter I was able to achieve 4k 120hz. I wish they'd speak more on this in all of the KZbin reviews on this product

Thank you for the video. I have two quick questions. The first is if my tv has an optical port on it, would I still need one of these extractors? Also, when I switch my sound settings to Dolby Bitstream on the ps5, there’s a noticeable delay in gunshots in the game I was playing. The gunshot animation happens and the sound follows a second or two behind it. It doesnt do this on liner pcm but the sound is def quieter than the Dolby setting. Any idea how to fix that?

No I think it’s a bug that needs to be patched out. You can see in the video I get feed back when selecting Dolby bitstream. These issues shouldn’t be happening.

I tried connecting the optical cable directly from the tv to my usb headset transmitter but it won't let me use the surround sound feature again. How do I stop hearing myself when I speak? I have turtle beach elite pro 2, el gato hd60s+, and the audio extractor in place. But when I talk, I can hear myself. It's frustrating. Is there a setting I'm not changing, should I use a mix Amp, even tho I have a mix hub that comes with the elite pro 2?

Look for mic monitor on off. And go into the console settings and turn the mic level down to where it’s just going into the good section. Hope this helps.

You can run 1080p 120 FPS. But if you have a tv that can do 4K 120 then it has a optical out. So you wouldn’t need the audio extractor.

The only headset I tested out so far. That really works well with the ps5’s 3D audio. Is the pulse wireless 3D. No shocker there. As this what they were design for. But they do sound a little thin. There’s no punch to them. Don’t get me wrong. They sound great. But for me I like a bassier headset.

I just got mine and I have two questions On the back of the splitter there are 3 options (Tv-Bitstream-2ch) and when i picked bitstream there was no sound coming. On the audio extractor have it on bitstream. That’s in the middle. And in the audio settings on the ps5 have it set to Dolby bitstream. If the isn’t working then set it to linear PCM. Thanks for watching and reaching out. And yeah those Turtles Beach stealth 700 are amazing.

Yes it’s taking the digital audio signal out of the HDMI and sending out a optical cable. So instead of connecting the optical cable to the headset. You connect it to the surround sound av receiver or sound bar.

The sound quality unfortunately is that great using usb. And the headset function like it used to with optical cable. Which is good for streaming setups. Once you have it all setup. In the ps5 options. You can switch back and forth on the fly. And hear the difference. It’s night and day.

Yeah the reason I'm asking is because I got an older Sony AV Receiver STR-K405 and a Vintage Pair of Sony DR-S7 Dual Volume and Tone Control Round Knobs Dynamic Stereo Headphones made in 1979 to use for Gaming and it's got a 6.35 mm Cable on the Headphones for use with the A/V Receiver?

Yes it will work. You could also put 3.5 adapter on 6.35. Then put the 3.5 into the controller.

If you play sports games as myself then 1440p/ 120 fps is a gift even if the game was developed around 60fps,you still get the benefit of 120fps . I prefer to plug a 3.5mm with a very top class cable between the monitor and the soundbar ,therefore i can reach the best image quality with a bit of sound compromise. Thank you! Yes that’s a great option. I have a video setting up the a40 mixamp the same way with the 3.5 for streaming. If buying a audio extractor isn’t an option for you.

It should. You mean the one with a 240hz refresh rate? That feature doesn’t work with HDMI. If it has HDMI 2.0 you’ll be able to get 1080p 120hz. While using the audio extractor like in the video.

when I use Sony SRS-WS1 neck speaker wireless not Bluetooth to PS4 between optical audio cable and USB sound adapter 3.5 jack to test on youtube for music. The optical audio cable on PS4 with SRS-WS1 the sound is very loud and very clear bass. And the USB sound adapter 3.5 jack on PS4 with SRS-WS1 the sound is not so much is not even close like the optical audio cable. Of course once I use PS5 on USB sound adapter 3.5 jack with SRS-WS1 same result from PS4 with USB sound adapter 3.5 jack. Is not a big deal but I'm kind a little disappointed from Sony for not adding optical audio connections.

you say you'd need to drop the res to 1080 for 120Hz, is that your monitor's limitations or limitation introduced by this device? I ask because on paper HDMI 2.0 and the advertised GPS, this device SHOULD be capable of 1440p @ 120Hz so long as the monitor it's connecting to is capable of that via a direct connection. THis is specific to the series x as I know there is no 2k on PS5

On Xbox one X and series x you can set it to 1440p 120hz. And your right ps doesn’t support 1440 that’s why I had to drop it down to 1080.

If you’re gaming on a nicer TV. Odds are it has a optical out on the back. HDMI from ps5 to tv optical out on tv to the 800 base optical in. USB to from base to ps5 for chat. Press ps button scroll to speaker icon and select av receiver. Then scroll to the mic icon and select your turtle beach mic. And your good to go.

@@GameTrekkie I have a splitter for the optical port my issue is that I can't adjust voice volume and game volume sperately anymore like on my PS4 for some reason(left ear has game volume up and down ) right ear has a chat up and down works great on the PS4 but the ps5 setting seem all over the place

Are we sure this device supports 120hz? I get the new consoles support 120hz but the device says it supports 60hz. I’m worried it’s going to act as a filter and restrict FPS to the monitor. Nobody makes a monitor with an optical port. Tlc makes a qled tv that is 120hz but doesn’t go below 50” in size. This is all a bunch of bs

Yes it does. I’ve played games at 1080p 120hz. If you look up capabilities of HDMI 2.0. It will clear up any doubt you may have. And on the device it self says HDMI 2.0 18 gigabytes per second and that’s fast enough for 120hz. Or 4K 60hz.

Back after a few weeks of having the device. For anyone else who’s curious the Xbox series X allows me to play 1440p at 120hz. Just to be sure there wasn’t any bottle necking or restrictions I purchased some 8k capable 2.1 hdmi 3ft cables. Runs flawlessly and my Astro A40 TRs sound great

@@kbgt1523 that’s great. Yeah the device said how much the transfer rate is. I think it’s 18gbs.... so my point it if you look up the capabilities and transfer rate of HDMI 2.1 , 2.0 and so on. You’ll see it in actual numbers how this device can handle everything but 4K 120hz. Just a little bit of research for anyone who finds this stuff as interesting as I do.

All good and well, I've done this but there's no option for chatmix??? So all my team mates either boom out or are super quiet. Also, output to headphones DOES NOT work with 'chat only'. If I set it to that I get NO sound whatsoever?????? All these things are too complicated and cancel out each other. Sigh...Things were perfect with my PS4. This PS5 sucks.
