Thanks for this info. Definately need to do this mod for my newly acquired Soace Invaders cab. Could you tell me where you purchased your Soace Invader decals for the riser?

Hello and thanks for the note. The graphics used on this machine came from Gulf Coast Decals. I made a video about that installation as well, if you're interested. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2aXcnpqfax9nqc Have fun with the project!

Thanks very informative, may start adding this to mine. I am just wondering why you installed it underneath and inside. Seems kind of troublesome to have to keep opening the cab to adjust the volume. Why not remove the volume switch and put the Potentiometer in its place?

I’m amazed I didn’t think of that. Good call. I’m doing my Golden Tee cab this weekend and will try it. Thank you!

@@PoppArtstudios YW! Sweet, looking forward to seeing how it turns out. I mean...it may be a bit more work to get to that switch and mod it (was just looking at the CP and my Atari 12 in 1 innards last night, thinking of your vid and this mod..it can be done i think) You are my guide, b/c i'm planning to follow your lead with 3 of my machines.

Can you just upgrade to the new style switch if you had one?

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. The new-style switch will not work in this modification, as the volume is adjusted in the software in the new cabinets. Now, if you can drill plexiglass without cracking it (special bit designed for that), you could put the potentiometer on the control deck. I've seen some people mount it on the J panel below the control deck as well, which is easier to do since it is just thin hardboard. Thanks for the question!

will this work on older pcbs?
@ingridhanson-popp6515 Жыл бұрын
To the best of my knowledge, it should. The Space Invaders cabinet and the Centipede cabinet were the oldest I've worked on. As long as you apply the potentiometer as shown on your cabinet, it should work. And if it doesn't, simply remove it and solder the two ends of the wire back together. At that point, you're simply out the money for the part, which is inexpensive to begin with. Thanks for the note.
