I also like the specific detail topics you cover, specially in your website. Speaking of that, watched everything on the channel but still in between two options. I just ordered LG B9 (literally minutes ago), for sound, what would you go with; LG SL8Y (Atmos) with 2 SPK8-S (satellites) so 5.1.2 ...or SL10Y and no expansion. Reason I ask this is that I haven't got chance to test if the satellites have sort of lag/delay.

why was the universal insignia rear speakers discontinued? it seem like that's the only one I may have been able to work with my polk signa s2. I have two bose rear speakers that my dad had for literally decades but they're ran by regular speaker wire. he had a full theater set and now I've get this soundbar and can't find away to get my surround sound 😒

At 3:54 you mentioned only one brand has discrete true surround rear audio. I have had a Vizio soundbar for years now that came with 2 rear speakers that are true rear channels. I'm actually looking for a way to duplicate the sound coming out of the soundbar, to come out of my rear speakers for added sound, not the background noise I get with surround sound.

This is from Livewire...When the digital optical connection was developed, it was made to accommodate the digital audio standards at the time (mainly 2-channel CD playback). Thus, digital audio signals such as 5.1/7.1 multi-channel PCM, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS:X, and Auro 3D Audio cannot be transferred via digital optical connections. These types of audio signal formats require the use of HDMI connections.

Pro logic, pro logic ii (x and x) are all Surround mixed in a 2 ch adio stream. Its done by matrix the audio, and play it out of phase (difference between the speakers) with a delay, in later pro logic ii and on theres a lot more to it. If you want to acces a Surround track easy, you take the plus from a stereo set, and place them in minus and plus on a speaker, this is the Surround track though without delay, this is how it was done way back.

I have an old technics receiver (no HDMI, no pre-outs, no optical fiber audio, only RCA), a Samsung Smart TV and a JBL Soundbar. Is there a way to connect all the 3 together? Question: I have a Vizio 5.1.2 m512-h6 soundbar whereby I have two satellite speakers that are wired into the subwoofer. If I were to get this Insignia kit, is there any benefit I would gain? Also, I didn't get how to Insignia kit sends sound to the receiver since I wouldn't have a receiver if I have a soundbar. Currently, the cables for satellite speakers connect to subwoofer so that means I am getting equal sound from both of my rare speakers at the same time as from the center front main soundbar. I want to make it so that I only get needed sound from either right or left or sometimes both like I would expect in a true surround system. Can I make this happen?

I had the same issue with interference to the point I just said forget it! Earlier wireless speakers were terrible. Also, depending on the device, I have always found that DX will work flawlessly with most applications, but TX is an absolute nightmare to keep stable.

The auxiliary input must be using Dolby pro logic 2 decoding (or something similar), and outputing the surround channels to the surround speakers.

Hi Jonah, I have a question: I have JBL soundbar 2.1 deep bass (only support hdmi, optical and bluetooth) and I wanted to get a set of studio monitors as well. How would the sound be if I just use a aux port (usually connecting my laptop or rasberry pi device) and convert it to hdmi and use the same aux port to split output to another aux-xlr wire to my studio monitor. I understand studio monitor system and soundbar will essentially receive the same signal. Will this be a bad idea and ruin all sounds?
