Man despite all the stupid stuff he says and does, I truly do love Kenji, and the added voice acting really did a lot for his likeability imo. Like yeah he's a stupid horny teenager, but for me it felt pretty endearing because despite saying and doing tons of stupid shit, he really does have a good heart. Like yeah he talks about finding Ms Kanou attractive physically, but after he deludes himself into thinking they're together he immediately starts thinking about the best way to treat her right and be a good partner to her rather than just caring about her looks. Again, it's in a really stupid and shortsighted way (even if she wasn't an adult and his teacher he is not anywhere near the age where he should be thinking about marriage lmao), but imo he really did have good intentions at heart, and i think his VA really did a good job of portraying that side of him where it doesn't necessarily come off as well purely through text. He's also got some scenes later in the game that i don't want to go further into that iirc Reload either added or expanded upon that convey this really well, but I won't go into that for spoiler reasons. I definitely get why he isn't everyone's cup of tea and it's a shame that due to how social link points work you have to play into his delusions and negative traits to get him to like you more (but imo that's a flaw of the series' format as a whole and far from unique to him), but I enjoy his character a lot. He's a sweet kid deep down that's just really insecure and wrapped up in his preconceived ideas of how he should act and feel. He's kind of like proto-Yosuke in that regard, only he likes older women instead of being in the closet (though that could still theoretically be true considering the choker lol), and I don't think it's a coincidence that they're both Magician arcanas and kind of the "first friend" character too, even if Kenji is more downplayed in that regard.

The important aspect of nozomi's social link is supposed to be showing the kind of mentalities that could lead to one giving up and joining a cult, however instead of showing the way the cult takes advantage of him, they waste time making him look bad and showing how he's harming others. It's unfortunate, not just because its one of the few social links that really manages to fail to get its point across in a memorable way, but also because it should have easily connected into the main plot's themes.

it is the worst, but for good reason. The Moon Arcana is all about illusions, fear, anxiety, and one's intuition. In reverse, it represents repressed emotions and inner confusion. Nozomi constantly stuffs himself to the point of constantly getting sick and involves himself with a cult as a way of distracting himself and repressing his true emotions. Because otherwise he'd be forced to confront the reality that the real reason people hate him isn't because he's chubby or because he isn't as talented as his late twin brother It's because he's an awful person. Nothing deeper than that

The gourmet king has a great story, but it is developed poorly. The idea behind is a kid who has a trauma he can't overcome, and eats in a compulsive way to overcome the anxiety. He also gets to join a "salvation cult" because he realized how fragile life can be. He sees his little brother in makoto, and all the jealousy and inferior complex goes back to him. It triggers the "survivor syndrome", a trauma that affects those who survived a catastrophe, and wonder why they survived and the other one didn't. It is a much more complex character than it looks like, but they screwed up by making it some weird comic relief

Overall, thanks for the great video :) I love seeing your experience with this game, and how similar and different it is on some aspects. I will say though, the editing feels a bit much sometimes. The editing is good, and a lot of time and effort was obviously put into it! But watching a 1hour+ video with this editing didn't really feel good. Normally, I can watch hour long videos uninterrupted while I eat and do other things, but this time I had to pause the video a couple of times because I feel like my brain was getting fried from the over-editing. It's just my opinion, though. You and your editors are free to do what you want, of course :D

Well if you dig deep enough, Nozomi did got a purpose in the s.link, granted it's kinda tough to get to that point because you legit gotta figure out what's going on until you reached rank 8 or 9, I also forgot. Honestly, I think s.links like Tanaka, Hidetoshi, Mutatsu, Nozomi, and Kenji are the s.links who gives lesson "somewhat" the hard way. Because we really need to put on effort to try understand them because their flaws are sticking out like a sore thumb, and their designs aren't meant to be generally attractive so it's easy not to care, but thet do have solid message, they're underappreciated. While others like Yuko, Bebe, Akinari, and Mamoru gives lesson the wholesome/safe way, because their designs are more appealing and they have wholesome personality so it's easier to connect. My point is, every s.link has pretty solid message to tell, if I HAD to pick the weakest link, I'd say it's Chihiro.
