Shoutout to Niac and Hitch for making the Flycast the most consistent OpTic content out there right now. I had listened to the last one with aPg and Trippy at least twice because I enjoyed it so much and didnt even realize it had been a week since it came out and was happily surprised to see this on my feed. I feel like the OpTic podcast and OpTic nation content has been inconsistent but these two have been holding it down.

Nick kept saying serotonin when Addy affects dopamine. It was driving me nuts. Dopamine is responsible for motivation and drive, when you take Addy without an actual need for it it's a crazy stimulant that makes whatever you're doing feel enjoyable then it crashes your baseline dopamine levels which is what causes the lack of motivation and depression. Kids if you want to perform better live a better lifestyle get enough sleep, take cold showers, eat actual food not fast food all day everyday and exercise and you will play better I guarantee it.
@coachmixer8230

What drives me nuts is when people say they "need" ADD meds more than someone else. What is your objective measurement for needing them more? They don't measure your dopamine to determine whether you have ADD, they rely on your representations. Also, those meds affect everyone the same. There isn't one scientific study showing that the meds produce a different effect in different people. That is a long-standing myth people use to justify taking them.

It’s such an eye opening thing to watch Nick talk about substance abuse from his perspective knowing what he’s accomplished. You can see him relive that time of his life and it almost seems like he’s experiencing disappointment and relief at the same time. So happy that he is in a better place and hopefully is able to help others in the scene.

To me it sounds like he is the perfect ambassador for this epidemic, he's lived it and that is something you can't learn or go to uni to learn. Use what you've learnt and pass it on to those who need your help Maniac.

Watching this made me realize all the parts that’s pieced together my music taste. The Mexican music my parents played around me. Some genres have no lyrics so that’s why I can like a song based on just the beat, but Mexican music also so vocal singy wise, so I’m drawn to sing-ier r&b soulful songs. Then you mix it with music hip/hop-pop-rap era I grew up in, then you tie in the region i’m in. So many things have influenced and sketched my music taste

Nick. I have diagnosed adhd (in europe where getting diagnosed is RARE) And you have adhd (based on the outside looking in perspective) You have a lower amount of baseline dopamine(dopamine is what you use to do stuff you dont want to do) People with ADHD get dopamine when something is interest, novelty, challenge, urgency, and passion. That's why people with ADHD appear to have SUPER focus sometimes. People with ADHD dont NEED meds, if you do stuff to bring baseline Dopamine up ( Excercise, proper nutrition, proper routine etc) You can still get stuff done. But when depression hits, and dopamine is even more effected that's where meds can kickstart that routine again. Addy basically doesnt exist where I live because it's so fast acting, look into Ritalin ( long lasting ) Concerta is what I use, My life was a mess of starting routines falling out of them, living one random obsession to the next without any ability to keep in a routine, Ritalin helps. ADHD is fucking difficult to live with, especially if you still have the guilt / shame around productivity, Highly recommend getting a diagnosis Nick, even if it just helps with the shame/guilt when you have bad days.

@@9RepeatingMonkeys For sure, fortunately even before being diagnosed I was always heavily involved in fitness (comp in powerlifting, swimming through college, etc.) But the routine has been key, making sure to not fall into a hole of taking medication and hopping on cod, etc. and getting right into chores/ to do lists. Playing video games or time wasters after work, chores, and working out so it’s actually earned.

The problem with drug testing in eSports is that it's SO easy to get a prescription for Adderall. Even if you pop someone on a drug test with a prescription it doesn't really matter because you're dabbling into HIPPA laws. If CDL were to drug test they wouldn't be able to determine if something was positive or not, only non-negative. Then you would throw prescriptions and samples to drug labs to confirm a test to comply with prescriptions.

@@magruster Dude, where did they (or you) say top 5 of this generation? They included Jay Z and discussed Biggy, what in the world makes you think they are limiting the conversation to "this generation?" Also, Kendrick has 2 No. 1 Billboard Hits, one of which was a feature on a T-Swift song, the other ("Humble") was No. 1 for one week total. He isn't a consistent chart-topper. @@magruster First, timestamp for me where they said their list was limited to "this generation." Thanks. Second, Biggie was number 5 on Nick's list before Hitch convinced him to switch to Kanye (I agree with this switch). Third, how can you say "popularity doesn't equal greatness" immediately after pointing to a grammy as evidence of Kendrick's greatness? Do you see how contradictory that is? Adderall isn't so bad if you know how to go about using them. Anything more than 2 days in a row is too much. The problem with them is how long it takes to get to sleep. You'll go to bed at 11pm and lay there until 4am and then wake up at 8am ready to pop another otherwise you're super fucked from the 4 hours of sleep. Combine that with not eating or drinking water and it's just a bad time. I'd argue you actually play games worst on adderall if you've been taking them for a few days in a row. Your senses and hand eye coordination is so messed up there's just no way you can play good.
