The hardest part of Quitting cannabis imo was accepting a new identity, so much of my music, hobbies, friends, and self image was linked to the culture of cannabis and the thought of giving all that up was terrifying.

Looking back I hate the whole experience. I hate the little glass pipes. The residue. The ash. The ashtray. The roaches. Smoking at 8am. Smoking before bed. Reuping. Speaking to budtenders was the worst. Unabke to pay attention to movies. Sitting in my car that smells of weed for hours. My face. My eyes. Paranoia. The weed friends. Now that I am sober, I have no one other than my brother who is attempting to quit now. I have no girlfriend. No kids. No house. Live with my mother. Im paying for the weed lifestyle today.

It's really refreshing to hear from someone who grew up around marijuana. I'm myself am a third generation hippie on both sides. My mother says that she smoked while she was pregnant with me until she got sick and threw up from smoking. [ She also didn't know she was pregnant with me at first. ALSO i have met many women who didnt know they were pregnant cos the symptoms were synonymous with the effects of smoking, are there studies abt this?] I am an only child so i was brought along to parties and also remember being around the smoking and hotbox sessions and smelling marijuana for the first time. I remember when D.A.R.E. came out and my mom had "The Talk" with me about how its illegal but its not bad cos "its a plant" and you are right that is a heavy confliction to put on a child when i think back on it. I started conciously recreationally smoking at age 11. When i was a teen I also had the "party" house where it was safe for everyone to come and smoke and drink and chill. My moms theory was "youre gonna do it anyways may as well do it in a safe place" The only other addiction i stuggle with is food and emotional eating. Ive learned that marijuana has triggered that via anxiety and munchies. Ive been smoking for 21 yrs an despite getting in trouble for marijuana, ive been struggling to quit for abt 6yrs now. I got thru 30 days and relapsed by celebrating by smoking 🙄🙄🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️ I am going to do it and quit forreal this time. The last part you mentioned is interesting because the one thing that is driving me to quit at my age is because When i was abt 15/16yrs old i promised myself i would quit smoking marijuana when it became legal because at that time they started putting the fire safe stuff in cigarettes and i knew that if tobacco was being altered that it was only a matter of time before marijuana is. I distinctly remember weed not being aa strong as it is now. We had mid and hydroponic which at the time dro was stronger from my understanding. And we only got dro for special occasions. Now you can barely find mids and tbh I could never function fully off this new shit but i built a tolerance cos its what i had available. I found this channel yesterday and i am grateful. I am going to quit smoking again today for the last time❤😊

3 moths without the shit. I consumed cannabis between 1984 and january 2023. During those years I have just 5-6 years where I did not use cannabis. I quit because it was not giving me anything anymore. I faced the cold turkey and I won. I've never felt better that I do today. I'm 54 years old and I'm enjoying sobriety. I've had a great life. A fgreat amily, a good job, money, eating ealthy but I used cannabis at daily basis (after 18 p.m) for years and years. It was not giving good things anymore. It had become a bad habit. Today, 3 months after quitting I can say that I'll never ever will use cannabis again. It is not part of my life anymore. We got divorced (so to speak) Be carefull as todays cannabis has nothing to do with the cannabis we used back in the 80 and 90s. And sorry for my english as it is not my mother tongue.

I have smoked almost every single day since I turned 21. My 27th birthday is in a few weeks. Hoping to have a sober birthday and figure out what my adult brain is actually capable of without weed. I’m excited :) I started with carts, when dispensaries first opened up in Seattle. I was hooked immediately. Bounced between carts, flower, and edibles, lately it’s been infused joints + edibles, and lots of caffeine and occasional adderall during the day. Always told myself it was temporary to get through a tough situation. Then I blinked and 6 years went by.

Almost the same story as you in Canada here, we got legalized in 2018 and I've probably been smoking heavily when I met my gf and she introduced me to Bongs, I was just used to smoking a blunt with my brother if we wanted to chill. But then I started getting annoyed at my brother (only weed was exciting me now) and I wanted to smoke on my own (taking a party drug into a self soothing drug), and then I didn't even wanna see my gf anymore because all we would do is smoke and buy too much food (wasting $) I'm not with her anymore for many reasons but both of our weed addiction helped put some nails in our relationship coffin. I can't go to the gym without bumping into shit even with just my hands sliding plates on if I'm high. Now if I go there sober, not only am I more naturally motivated, but I get my sets done in better times and they are more dialed in movements. I realized that when I smoke it alone, I just sit in my shed after work, smoke until dinner is ready, and then go back out to smoke until bedtime, all while listening podcasts (not productive) and doing nothing extra with my life. Glad to hear you're kicking this shit before your 30s!

Getting sober right now for the 10th or 20th time. I’ve abused bud, dab, carts etc and have smoked really heavy a lot of the times I was abusing and addicted. Ever since I was 18 I’ve been abusing weed on and off and trying to stay sober and I’m trying to get sober now. I’ve been feeling the withdrawals for sure yesterday didn’t fall asleep until 10am and last night 6am luckily. Can’t really make too much food cuz I’ll just waste it with my low appetite. I think society and everyone going against the fact that weed can cause addiction actually harms ppl a lot more because then you have people doubting that there addicts and then they’ll never know the truth and be able to live it and start taking steps towards staying sober but knowing the truth of weed addiction, being able to talk to people about it and be understood I think would be so impactful for weed addicts. Been sober since June. 18th 9pm. Also I used to be a hardcore anti weed person like forreal wish I would of never got close to it and used.

Great conversation! I think it's so important to hear different perspectives on the subject of addiction and which effects addiction has on a biological, psychological and social level. Sometimes we get caught up in our own experiences and think other people must experience the same, but every story is different and there is no black and white. Addiction is a really complicated subject. In my opinion it can be really valuable to listen to other people, be open, show acceptance towards each other and appreciate everybody who wants to share their experience. im packing my last bowl as i watch this to hopefully be the last time until my life gets better, ive lost alot of moments in my life due to my want or need to smoke it doesnt make sense to me as someone who has overcome hard drug addiction to have a harder time quitting marijuana then perscription meds and i want to quit and i never follow through because i smoke to solve my mental problems (undiagnosed) im afraid of going to therapy in fear of them giving me medications i dont know if im writing this to reach out for help or to just get it out there to maybe get some feedback. ive lost friends family and jobs due to my thoughts and my want to get out of my head. i dont want to kill myself i want to kill the person ive become over the last 4 years, im scared to lose the only sense of relaxation ive ever had. anyway thanks for reading if you did :)

The last point he made about the potency of thc being higher now and and that the plant has been manipulated, totally true. And Sexton himself even said when he was doing it he used 1:1 with CBD, which helps balance out the effects a lot more and is more how it’s meant to be. Thank you for bringing up that point for the people who still continue to doubt it’s become a problem. Incidences of psychosis have skyrocketed and the amount of people going to hospitals for cannabis related problems as well as those seeking help treatment for addictions that have developed says it all.

I hope you're doing okay now! I'm on day 3. I have a very cognitive and demanding job and struggling but trying to lean into healthy habits (sleep, hydration, going on walks, fruits/veggies, limiting online time), so trying to remain hopeful. I've been crying a lot, like all the feelings I was trying to sedate myself from are flooding put, just letting it happen without judgement. The physical symptoms are just as bad. I hope you're still doing good!

Thanks so much for the comment. 🙏🩷

@@Danielle-hh8cw sometimes people do need to ween off slowly. I hope you're able to get to that point, friend! I have so far stayed clear of it. I'm a little over 2 weeks now. There have been some difficult moments (particularly dealing with hard emotions due to my aging parents), but I've managed to keep myself away from it. The first week was terrible and I'm starting to feel normal again, although I know from last time it takes a few months to feel truly good about it. Hang in there, you can do it!

Similar experience with a cannabis (and to an extent alcohol) culture on both sides of the family. The adults never smoked around us when we were kids, but once we reached late teens it was like an initiation to start smoking with family. It'svalmost a kneejerk response in my family amongst those who prefer cannabis to go on about how it's not that bad compared to alcohol and hard drugs. Lots of cardiovascular issues, etc. and dementia and even Alzheimer's disease. I fell back into cannabis after almost 10 years of abstinence from it (and 3 years of abstinence from alcohol - thankfully I do not feel tempted to go back to that bc my husband and I made a pact not to drink ever again, so I've been free of booze for 6 years). I have both autism and ADHD so I know I'm very vulnerable to substance use disorder and addictive behaviors because of having already wonky dopamine receptors due to those conditions. Great video! I really can relate to a lot. Seeing my dad's mental and physical health decline because of his cannabis use disorder is sad. I kind of avoid him because of it.

I grew up in Northern California in the 80s and 90s. Grew up in a professional class Grateful Dead family. Weed was just part of the communal landscape. I remember coming home from 2nd grade crying because Mcgruff the crime dog came to my class telling me would be doing something helpful and good if I told them if my parents smoked weed.

Now much better but still so tensed. Sometimes it goes away for some time and back again. Did someone experienced that ? I mean it’s already 5 month. Thought should be better. Smoked 4 years , only at night at the beginning and 10g a day at the end , then brain fog and panic attacks started and I quit. Still miss smoking so bad

So is medical marijuana any different or it’s just the same? You get the same affects and symptoms…I remember getting my medical marijuana card here in FL and I consumed flower for about a year…I stopped smoking because I was dependent on it and my behavior on the flower or when I was off was irritability and anger at times…I stopped in 2021…And I have an appointment at a cannabis doc tomorrow Thursday 6/29/23 to renew my med card. I want to start again so that I can consume flower once in a while to help with my bouts with sadness. But after seeing this video I might postpone that appointment and maybe not renew.

Even got busted dealing weed in my freshman year of H/S and that still didn't stop me. I made that "commitment" to stop on 07/27/2022 and I'm still clean, at 60 years old it was time. It's a huge accomplishment for me. I want to thank you for sharing Dr.Anna Lembke and her insight, "already purchased her book Dopamine Nation". Thank you.

You should Fix your video on thc-o. You misunderstood some things, and it’s important that you give out accurate information so people can actually trust you. If you go back to your THCO video were you talked about the military using THCo that was not THCO. That was dimethylheptyl-thc-o (that’s why it was so freaking potent) Redoing a lot of these videos is not gonna be very difficult for you, but it is incredibly important to the world. I have a feeling you knew about this misunderstanding afterwords and your unwillingness to fix it is kind of sad.

This is how drugs are for people who abuse them. It's fun till you become dependent. "Make adult choices, pay adult consequences" Drug I have yet to get a classification for what a drug is.. What defines a drug is the person with the inability to say no when enough is enough a person that doesn't understand when enough is enough. The drug in this case isn't the problem.. The drug is a symptom of the problem & then becomes a problem in itself. *the problem that got you into consuming drugs is still there until you deal with it. Drugs can be associated with anything. Mushrooms, adrenaline, sucrose, fructose, flavonoids, cannabinoids, terpenoids, lipids, dopamine increases & decreases, vegetables, medications, tonics, vitamins, hormones/estrogen deficiencies, Anthocyanins, pigments, lichen, chemicals dependent depend on the chemicals imbalance your body exhibits. This man has not done every drug know to man 😂 *if he lies to himself he'll lie to you..🤦🏻‍♂️ You can give kids 3 & up amphetamines legally. You can take foreign antibodies as soon as you're born & before you're born. You can take hormones/estrogen medicine when your pee pee parts no longer works.. You can put steroid on you when you have a rash I put tallow & marijuana on myself & smoke an oz a month I don't take any medication not even aspirin. Dental work ,I get knocked out & I don't take antibiotics I use natural antibiotics & no pain medication. Juice raw foods only! Stop-it please Spread manure Marijuana doesn't cause problems.. It the human manipulation associated with using plant growth regulators. If you believe in plants as a whole why use single molecular drugs 😂 Extractions. These people are a joke! 😂😂😂 I'm dead😂☠ Tilray is the leader in medical marijuana research Tilray started as a 40 million dollar industry in Canada .. fuckineh
