@@PixelArchitect I was thinking as I read this, what if: Every time you find a new recipe or unlock something, your character writes something down (Que writing or taping into notebook noise) then a notebook appears as an interactable hud item. You can open up your book any time with a specific button and the recipe you found is written in your book. You could do it to where you find a picture or list, in a bar counter or sumthin, that tells you what to do for each recipe for each brewing machine, and it gets taped into your book. I think this could add more immersion into something simple like a recipe book, and look awesome!

I couldn't help but notice your phase 3 has beer going through the distiller. I can assure you that beer does not get distilled. Distilling it would get you hoppy whiskey. If you want a third stage, you could age it in barrels, or alternatively, have it be beer right out of the fermenter, but if you put it in the aging barrels, it becomes barley wine. Barley wine is a high gravity beer that is usually aged. Also, since it is a cooking game, I think brandy definitely should be included since it is an important part of many French recipes. Since brandy is distilled wine, you can just have the unaged wine go through the still to make it. Another culinary alchohol is port. Port is wine fortified with brandy, so you could just have it as the mixture of the two. Also not really culinary, but gin and ouzo would be cool too.

Maybe it would be an option to automate the collection of ingredients more and more in the course of the game. A good example of this is Graveyard Keeper, where you can later resurrect the dead into zombies and use them as workers. Maybe you could hire workers and then you only collect special things yourself or when you need a lot of one thing in particular.

@@PixelArchitectOr maybe, as you progress through the game, when you collect carrots, instead of one, you sometimes get two or three from the same sprout. Would something like that be enough? Yeah it doesn’t make sense how you can’t get assistance with harvesting once you’ve started running a large restaurant. The player should be able to connect with vendors to get discounts on bulk produce/meat/rare cooking ingredients or hire people directly to harvest for them. It’s especially important once the player has reached a large restaurant size since the gameplay should begin to focus on management/strategy rather than resource collection.
@PixelArchitect
@PixelArchitect Жыл бұрын
It’s a good idea! Adding harvesters to hire makes a lot of sense
@olesyatorokova
@olesyatorokova Жыл бұрын
@@PixelArchitect Maybe you could add in the later stages of the game, like designated harvest crops with their own farmers and experiences. So like you could go to them and basically hire them to plant, look over and harvest specific ingredients, and depending on the world or special events there could be a risk of a failed harvest or a higher-graded crop. Ofc workers can be included as well, but maybe the amount which they can find and bring back could be limited, and the farmers might be a little more expansive but can provide a higher output of crops. So the player feels like they have a choice on how to handle that particular challenge. :)

Hey, just stumbled upon this video and since you asked for suggestions I would say it would be really cool to add "Cachaça", also know as "Pinga", which is a distilled spirit made from fermented sugarcane juice which is one of the most popular distilled alcoholic beverages in Brazil, it's also used on a lot of tropical drinks and mostly know for it's use on "Capirinha" but in Brazil it can also be used on some recipes for popular dishes (like some pastry dough, in some desserts and even in the prep of some meats to make it more tender)!

For the balance of the late game, when your restaurant becomes bigger, you could add a system where you can hire somebody to pick up the ingredients for you, with a few exceptions of course, like rarer items
@Yuusou.
@Yuusou. Жыл бұрын
The automation system could be as simple as "keep x amount of ingredients or items in storage". You will get an overview in your storage, when you'll run out of stock for the base ingredients, which either demands you to go harvesting for them or have them bought from shops.

Always excited to see a new one of your videos coming out! As a former cocktail bartender I had a few thoughts if you're open to them. (1) I highly recommend adding gin and tequila. Tequila may be more tricky to fully integrate into vibe of the setting, but I think gin pairs super well, especially with the temperate climate and wooden biome. Also, kombucha, though non-alcoholic would be a nice addition. (2) I saw that you had an intermediate step between the grains and beer. Beer, wine, and cider only require fermentation. I like that you've introduced the aging barrels for wine and cider though. That's a nice touch to give each product a consistent three stages. For products like beer or kombucha you could either make them a two stage production, or you could do a double fermentation, which isn't uncommon. The first fermentation can be fairly generic and the second fermentation could be used to introduce additional flavor profiles. Depending on your complexity/simplicity tolerance you could open both beer and kombucha into a wider range of products. (3) Ideas for gathering additional resources could include hiring a gatherer, purchasing from farmers/hunters/foragers/etc. or maybe developing a relationship with an out of town supplier? Probably stuff you've already thought of. I think some of the Assassin's Creed games had a function where you could send an employee off on a mission and they'd come back with resources after a set period of time. Food for thought. Love the content! Looking forward to the next one!

I know scope is getting too big but if this is added it will definitely blow up. Cuz ur building ur hotel , expanding ur menu and only npcs get to taste those it doesn't feel right . If other people from their world or all are in the same world have different jobs. Like someone is hotel manager , farmer so u can get ur materials and sometimes if the materials are exotic, rare u can go find them on ur own . I have tons of ideas like this i bet u also had these ideas and i also understand that adding these ideas are no joke and u have to learn completly new set of information for this to let us have the game experience u want us to feel. I'll add some details here as I'm watching. Firstly, you can make beers and wines and other things rather simply with very minimal equipment. For example you can buy premade kits that have everything you need to make small batches. Usually for a beer this kit is Dried malt extract or syrup. Effectively taking the Wort (the juice from the mash) and drying it and or inverting it into a syrup. This means you add boiling water and you skip the mashing process entirely. Then they have hops (and auxiliary clarity tablets). These get added into the pot of boiling wort. For beers this is in two time zones, at the start to add bitterness, and near the end to add aroma. This is then cooled down to 20-25° into a fermentation vessel, on this scale it could be a Carboid (a glass pressure safe vessel) and the yeast is added. This is left for a week and then you have beer. So if you'd like players to be able to start brewing earlier, all you need is a kitchen hob to boil in a big pot (20L) and Carboids or a big glass vessel/multiple of smaller vessels. Then bottles out the other side. This 'homebrewing' process could be the thing that unlocks the ability to actually produce it commercially. You make small batches to gauge interest, and eventually you have the conversation with Bianca about upscaling. The other side of this is the balancing of ingredients. A 20L pot would actually make about 75% as usable product at the end. So you get 15L of Beer. But if this is in bottles of say 500ml that means you would get 30 Bottles. These means the efficacy of ingredients in to amount out would need looking at. From experience 150kg of grain with a decently efficient process would make about 1000L of beer - minus the efficiency ( for my kit I got returned results of 87% on my small kit and 94% on my 1100L kit.)

I love how ASMR-like the brewing system feels and how kind of retro the UI for that part is/ As for the late gameplay loop, maybe you can make it where some of the less rare items can be "ordered online" or something like that? If a late game player were to get a lot of money, they can order the easy stuff and focus on getting rarer ingredients. You could even have partnerships with orchards or something ahahah! Add "Snaps" or "Schnaps". Something we drink in Sweden especially around midsummer, easter or christmas. It is basically vodka (Absolut vodka) originally made from potatoes. Fun fact, "absolut vodka" became so good at making pure snaps that people didn't like it so they have to manually add impurities that were found in snaps in the old days. They often come with some flavours such as blackcurrant berries or elder flower.

This is the kind of game that even if end up not having time to play it, it would still be money well spent. So much love and thought put into it! It's amazing.

This is a little bit of a different suggestion, the stairs that lead up to the bathhouse, everytime I see a shot in these videos of a character walking up it it feels slightly strange having to turn directions left or right to go up the stairs, its a small idea but letting the player just press up or down and the game automatically causing them to take the stairs diagonally would be a nice touch Game looks amazing though cant wait to play it

I'm not joking, this game is going to be better than stardew. The depth and heart you've put into this game. It's incredible and I'm so excited to play it. Please don't rush this.

Try Pálinka. It's a hungarian alcohol 40%-85%, and can be made from practically anything (not even kidding). You can make it from fruits of course, but also from snakes, aaaand from certain leather shoes... yeah. Also Kumis, fermented equine milk, alcohol content from 2%.

Watching your devlog make me more confident to start my own project since I have doing pixelart for years now. I also notice the animation idle of the characters is kinda reversed on thier chest. Love your devlogs, waiting for the game to release !!
