A trick to get ants to move is to make their old nest less desirable. This could be done by putting and ice pack wrapped in a towel on the nest so it's a little cold, or putting bright lights on the old nest.

@@AntHolleufer I did it but on a smaller scale! I have my colony of ~170 Camponotus Novaeboracensis in a wakooshi medium cork nest and just added a small foranto branch nest that's about 15cm tall. They moved in quite fast and I gotta say I'm pretty impressed with the quality and aesthetics of the foranto!

As you know I nicos too and I keep them in a wakooshi nest like the one you are using. I had to move them from a wooden nest to the wakooshi because they didn't like the wood nest. They like it a little damp in their nest unlike the rest of my campos who all love wood.

How did they grow so fast? They went from only a few workers, to almost 30 in under 2 months. I thought camponotus grew pretty slow? And my crematogaster cerasis took 3 months for their first eggs to hatch. How can I get my colonies to grow faster?

That you can keep? Because eciton species are the fastest. But those are un-keepable. For ants you can keep, that would be atta mexicana the Mexican leaf cutter ant, solenopsis geminata or invicta the fire ant, and many inbreeding species like crazy ants or Guinea ants/tetramorium bicarinatum
