For the door: Use your wrench and while hovering over the chasis you can set the number of blocks it attaches to horizontally out. If you set that to the 3 wide doors you had originally and only glue the sides that you want to attach, it should work fine. If you use the gearshift block I think it's called, you can change the direction the axels spin so you dont have to worry about crouching or not crouching but that might take some other redstone to setup. The easiest way would be using a sequenced gearshift, then using a constant source of rotation, and send a button signal to a clutch drive to have it open and close. But if you want to stick with the idea of the stone age and iron age maybe don't do this advanced stuff yet. Also you can use combiniations of the big cog wheels attaching to smaller cog wheels to change the speed if you want to.

Ok more specifically on the door. Dont use chassis they suck. You can achieve the effect you want with any block you want but you have to use glue. Glue is cheap, but you have to apply it to every face inbetween the blocks on your door. That should work fingers crossed, although create does get a bit weird when using modded blocks as part of their contraptions, sometimes they allow it sometimes they don't. Let me know how it works with conquest blocks.

Interesting, so what should I use instead of vertical chassis? Or do you mean I should just super glue everything to the mechanical bearing?

@@lowresbones The latter, literally just use super glue. Those wooden logs you had in the video where you were originally going to put the chassis. Take those, rebuild them, putting glue inbetweeen and then glue the door on and it should work a treat.

@@lowresbones I agree with the glue topic! Chassis are great if you build a whole contraption (like a tunnel bore) that moves - but they're not nice to use in buildings. Other than that, it shouldn't be complicated to go for a smooth opening/closing animation instead (keeping it longer in a tile entity state) instead of snapping the door open/closed. I can't remember the name of the block right now, but I could take a look if you're interested. Overall: I really really like your building style! Are you thinking of releasing the pack once everything is out of alpha/beta?

It's so unfortunate I found this series so early in is development haha I could watch 600 episodes in this style and not get bored, can wait for the ages!! I think my personal favorite is gonna be the nether age if you do one! Your builds are so beautiful ❤️

Thanks mate! Yeah sorry it’s so slow. One of the weird things about making content is the split between game progress and content production (and then I work full time on top of that). Hopefully I can hurry things along and get episodes out weekly

Got introduced to the channel through your "Make it look like the trailer" video. Started watching your new 1.18 series and got recommended in the comments to check The Hammer as well. Man, oh man. I just can't put into words how amazing is the environment and pacing of these videos. Everyone agrees those cinematic shots are beyond perfection and how much it adds to the whole experience, but this is not the only thing I love about how you craft this series. I tried to understand what made me so eager to keep watching it, and I think the way you play, plan and deal with your tasks makes the Minecraft world's bittersweet loneliness and its endless vastness so blatant yet so comforting. I'm in love with what you've been doing, and I mean it for this one and for your new series. I'll keep following your steps in both and whatever you may bring in the future, cause I'm sure there's a lot more to come! Thanks for the inspiration, lowresbones! a mix of conquest reforged and create is probably the most interesting modded experience that i have seen to this day. the idea of combining the medieval atmosphere & vast amounts of different building materials from conquest, with the huge collection of mechanical parts from create transforms minecraft into a completely different game. again, this series seems to get better and better with every episode! i also really like how the newer houses in the village have more complex shapes (like the new horse stable and the trading hall), it shows that you’re getting even better with this building style.

Thanks! I feel that too, Conquest was quite overwhelming but I’m slowly learning the different blocks and getting more confident. Now the create mod is the thing that’s overwhelming haha

Still absolutely loving these videos, just hope that in the future you continue to show a little of the building process as well. Your builds are getting bigger and more complex, which is great, but also mean you're building full buildings off camera, which is fine, still love the cinematics, but the build process also showcases how you go about thinking about your designs and why you choose thing things you do. for the door you can just use regular chassis which will only stick to stuff in one direction, or superglue which means you can stick any block to any other block
