I can't thank you enough for this series dude, you are a god-sent! After finishing the tutorial, I improved the movement system with acceleration and friction, and added an "inaccuracy" variable to the weapons which affects the direction the bullet goes when created. Later I'll try to improve the AI, the visuals and sounds (saw you video on adding juice to the game already). I have learned a lot and feel am closer than ever to finish a game for the first time.

I'm so glad to hear that this series has been so helpful for you! Those are some awesome changes that you made. Super cool that you're feeling close to finishing a game. Not sure if you're in our Discord server already, but if you join there, people would love to see your progress updates and how you're changing the game!

This has been very helpful and I've done a couple of expansions as training which has been really fun Heres what I've done if anyone needs any ideas: Scrollable weapon selection Shotgun UI that shows state of bases Turrets (stationary simplified versions of actors with infinite ammo guns) Gun damage multiplier for different guns Muzzle flash particles Fixed so you can spawn more team members than spawn points Weapon manager for actors (simplified, made the player's weapon manager inherit from it) Added money based on how many bases you control Made it so you have to buy weapons and only start with the pistol, also turrets and extra team members Made a menu for buying that is updated dynamically Expansions left to do: Add shopping AI so the enemy team buys upgrades themselves A base with health for each team that needs to be destoryed to end the game (think age of war) Fix it so that enemies that get shot by someone out of their detection range will get alerted and move toward the shooter

Hey! This was a truly amazing series, great job! I am having some difficulties with the AI though, not sure if its supposed to happen or I just messed something up. Sometimes when capturing a base, after it is captured, they stop moving and just start patrolling. I've also noticed when the player team has captured 2 of the 3 bases, the enemies stop advancing and just stay at their own base. Any ideas on how to fix?

Can we get networking here? like multiplayer shooter?
@gabrielbarcelon86652 жыл бұрын
Umm quick question, I'm currently in part 13 right now but I'm wondering if it's possible for this to be a multiplayer or how to make something into multiplayer. Thank you and keep up the great work
@jmbiv_dev2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately no, we don't get to multiplayer in this series. It certainly is possible, though - PlugWorld has a multiplayer TDS game tutorial very similar to this one. You should check that out!

Hmm just my opinion Few months back you uploaded a video about your income from KZbin n I think that Despite you making great tutorial videos you r not able to generate viewership is due to the fact that your video is a series of videos that teaches people how to make certain type of game (too down shooter for instance). N such series type of tutorial is generally targeted towards the beginners but that problem is that the game you are building is not appealing enough Don't get me wrong Your tutorial gets the job done but the stuff you r building isn't appealing enough for it to motivate beginners to build that thing by themselves So I would say the videos that u r making might be good for intermediate or advanced users but here's the problem No intermediate or advanced users gonna watch a whole series or a certain video from series What they will most likely search for is the video about getting something done So in summary the stuffs you r making isn't appealing enough for beginners n not a series us most like not able to get the attention of intermediate users so I think you could change your style Abit Sorry for bad English cos it's my 3rd language N it's just my own opinion so however you take it's up to you Thank you

Thanks for the detailed thoughts, and your English is good! I think you're totally right. My plan going forward is to focus more on single videos. At the same time, Godot is still growing in terms of having good community resources, and I figured that having a long series that can show people how to build a complex game from the ground-up is a valuable thing to have, even if it's niche/not exactly what most intermediate/advanced people are looking for. Because of that, I figured it was worth posting another couple videos just to round this series out. But you're right, and my hope going forward is to do more single videos. Thanks for your thoughts though, it's helpful to hear from people like you as I plan future videos.
