This video would have been much more useful if you would have shown splicing the chain back together/

I needed a 116-link chain for my new derailleur, but what I have is 110-link. This video might save me from buying another set of chains since I kept the chains that I removed from my bike. Thanks!

Most chains on Amazon for 6 - 8 speeds have 116 links. So you can buy one of those and not have to add links.

This video was great and extraordinarily helpful. Also, your cat is very cute :) My cats were looking on as well!

Whoever made this video only thinks they know what they're doing, never ever ever reuse the same pin, I can't stress that enough. Bad bad bad advice

Hi Scott, Thank you for the comment. I did a new video, kzbin.info/www/bejne/l2rPaoprbK12kNE, to correct the bad advice in the "adding links" video. And to help point people to good advice, I included a link to a Park Tools video, kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJW4gn6MgrV5a6s, I found on their site that advises to obtain and replace the old link with a new link that is compatible with the chain being used. The Park Tool link is this one, I appreciate your input, thank you.

So how do you connect it? 🙄

same thing as removing it but in reverse. just turn the chain tool around and tighten it so the pusher pushes the pin back in.

Nicely done Rich but make sure you shift down to the small chainring in front and small cog in the rear to double check you still have a bit of tension on the chain. You may need to remove a link or 2. My friend Calvin Jones at Park Tool has a nice video on sizing a chain but note, a lot of bikes 9-12 speed now use master links or special pins to make the final connection but the sizing method is the same. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hWG8mpWDebx1d9k Take care and keep on riding.

Yes I wound up removing one more link. It just felt like it shifted more positively. Tell you friend I love Park Tools. A Great American Company.I want to get the same results a pro would get and it all starts with the tools of the trade.

@@RoadtrekRich, thanks for the kind words about Park tool. I recently retired but Park was my 1st wholesale account I had for 30 years. I had many accounts both domestic and foreign but Park was my favorite because of high fill rates and so easy to work with. We were Parks biggest account as we had 4 US and 2 Canadian warehouses. It was a fun job and the company always treated me well. I still keep in touch with my friends at Park and sometimes stop by on a bike ride to say hi to all friends there. Take care!

Hi. You are probably a high functioning individual that doesn't need a video.

@RoadtrekRich actually no i really didnt... i was just aggravated with a bafang bbshd install... thought i was going to need to change my bike chain length... which i didnt... but i did have to change over to a 19mm offset front sprocket... which should be here at the end of the week... i usually have everything done in a shop... but ofcourse because of all of the little issues with compatibility you run into on an ebike kit installation... no shop will do it... so im learning a whole of things about working on bikes that i didnt know... and every video i warch... it usually takes 15 minutes of listening to mindless babble... half the time that has nothing to do with the subject matter of the video... to get to an answer and its really annoying
