I saw on a gardening show once someone recommended to tie the leaves together upright and wrap Saran Wrap around the leaves until you had finished planting then just cut the wrap off and the leaves would go back to their original position. Enables you to plant without getting stabbed and doesn’t damage the plant either

I’m so glad I came across this video! I have seen so many of these plants with beautiful white bell like blooms on tall spires planted out in landscapes around my central connecticut area and had no idea what they were. They’re yucca!! I think the blooms on them are just stunning.

Yessss boo! LOVE this! I planted so much color in our back garden but wanted to go more serene in the front and this is truly inspirational 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I love how the different textures are used in place of bold colors to break it up and add contrast and that cement pillar+planter combo is EVERYTHANG!!! Once again, great job girl!

Love, love, love this new column and pot, and the arrangement is glorious! The cement pops surrounded by all the green. I wish we had a garden center like your parents’. There are a few, but they certainly don’t offer the array of plants, trees, shrubs and planters like theirs.

I've always been curious because I've never seen you do it, but do you ever put any small rocks in the bottom of your containers before dirty so they will drain better and not get water logged? I love everything you do, and everything always turns out beautiful! You're one awesome lady!

She has said in other videos that she does not do that.
@nenemaria-cornfieldsgarden
@nenemaria-cornfieldsgarden 5 жыл бұрын
She recommends against that. In a video a few weeks ago she showed a pot that was there from the previous owners (I think) that had rocks in the bottom and it had blocked the drain hole, filled to the brim with water and the plant it in died. I always used to do it but find the soil impacts around the stones and actually causes more water to build up. I just raise my pots up on brick or a few stones instead, seems to work much better!
@888-m2m

@@nenemaria-cornfieldsgarden I put large and small rocks in mine and have done this for years and I've never had a problem it's always worked beautifully for me. Every time I've ever just put dirt the hole always gets clogged up. I will try to find that video you're talking about. Thanks!🙂

@@888-m2m Maybe that's the key, putting in larger rocks with smaller ones! I guess we just have to try things out :) We get a ton of rain where I am in the UK so raising mine up definitely helps most. I can't remember which video she posted it in, sorry, I think it was in one where she was tidying up around the front/side of the house but I could be wrong.

You are so right about the pillar concept. Makes a big impact. I'm personally just not feeling the pot choice, since it matches the shape of the pillar so much. An urn or vase shape, even a low and wide bowl, something with more of a defined neck, would make a big impact apart from the column.

Oh, that's fabulous, Laura. I love how you got that structure in there while still keeping it subtle. This is so helpful to see, I can't tell you. And the Dichondra -- I'd have thought it was too delicate to go with such a structured plant, but I think keeping it almost monotone makes it work. And, my goodness, Dichondra is such an incredible almost magical plant. I just started using it in containers this year (due to a certain someone). Been gardening for 30 years, but never made a container until this year. :o Thank you.
