Sta Green stuff hasn't disappointed me. I use their fertilizer and I have used the Lawn Soil and Tree & Shrub soil. My arborvitae have already doubled in size since being planted in late March.

I have used both the Sta Green and Scott’s brands of Lawn Soil and have used them as a peat moss alternative as a top dressing, I prefer the Scott’s the wood pieces are smaller and easier to work with. You might need to water the seed more once it germinates than you normally would due to the tree roots competing with the grass

Congrats on the ruling from the VA with the government it can be like pulling teeth to get anywhere. I am wondering if the other veteran you were playing golf with played a helping hand. My BIL was having problems with getting a ruling he wrote the local congressman and got a positive ruling

All (brands) bags of top soil are wet and clumpy, that stinks. The Scotts tops soil w/ peat moss is pretty clean but only comes in 0.75 cf bags so you need to get more of them. Pick your poison, a few big bags, or a bunch of smaller ones!

Well said!! thats my experience as well....I bought extra lol...I screen their screenings ! usually over a HD or lowes buckets then put top on after to have just in case...same as my Seed!!! 5 gallon bucket with a lid and seed gets a plastic bag before lid!!! I also mix the bag soil with some potting soil...seems to help hold initial moisture a bit longer
