Mate, I love your channel. The "TV show" and no commentary style videos is a relatively new niche and you're one of the best creators for that right now. I'd love to see you do a DIY scape with materials you just found around the place and plants from your other tanks. I recently faced the challenge of scaping a 10L rectangular shrimp/snail aquarium with only plants from my other aquariums (dwarf sag, cabomba, anubias nana golden, and LOTS of java moss). I settled for two random rocks from outside, dwarf sag, java moss (hidden in a corner behind my heater), and water lettuce. I couldn't anchor the moss to stay down (I'm using Fluval Biostratum), and the walls weren't high enough to justify using mesh for the moss. The look of the tank didn't turn out great, so I'm going to wait a couple months and let the dwarf sag grow out before doing a rescape. Would love to see you take on that challenge! Might be fun seeing how many rocks or branches from outside you can use to create a natural look in your tank.
@IMaqua Жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot. That's an interesting suggestion (challenge). I was thinking about it already but I am just afraid of introducing "something" from outside into the aquarium. In one of my scapes I discovered dragonfly nymph recently and that was from some pond plants I bought. Regarding reusing plants; I now have a lot of aquariums so I started reusing some of the plants. It's my go to method. Only if I don't have enough plants I will buy new.
@DavidDuMusic Жыл бұрын
@@IMaqua That's a valid concern for sure. I put my random outdoor rocks in diluted hydrogen peroxide, then boiling water for a few hours, before putting them in the new tank. So far my hydrogen peroxide/boiling water method has not given me any concerns, just copepods from reusing plants from my other tank. I imagine it would be an even bigger concern with natural outdoors driftwood you might find while walking around. It might be worth putting it on a bucket list so whenever you run out of ideas, you could attempt this to see how it ends up.

Thanks. I added it to my future projects "to do" list.

I have never kept chilis before. They are a bit expensive where I am, and they require quite a few to feel comfortable. I do hope to keep them some day, yours are so bright straight away when added to this tank. The red really explodes against the green backdrop of the plants. Peaceful video as always. Wishing you well.
@IMaqua Жыл бұрын
Usually they are drab looking when you get them. I transferred these from one of my other tanks that is why they are so chili red. Cheers Phil.

Thanks. If you check my videos titled "Community Tank" EP2 and EP3 I filmed Chili Rasbora under light that is not RGB. I am planning to add them in the future to other tanks with non RGB light. Hope that helps.
