Adding your Studio Ribber to your Knitter

How to set up your studio type ribber onto your knitter, this is of cours the standard machine, the bulky is very similar.

The biggest tip was using the knitter clamps or c-clamps to hold the ribber arms to the table. Makes a world of difference. Thanks!

Thanks to you, as that table had a thick piece of wood, I did have to use the C-clamps as the normal knitter clamps wouldn't fit. but eventually I changed the wood to a thinner piece.

Hello Roberta!😀You were right,the ribber bed was warped'´I put some weights all the night and for the moment it works👍👍You are my savior ,in forum in France nobody could find the problem. Thanks a lot for your kindness😉

Nathalie Letellier I wish it wasn't the case and it was the needles but this does happen. When someone stores their ribber on the end and leaning up against a wall, that will happen. I am sure the same with the knitter. If it happens again, let the weights stay on overnight again, but lay it flat with some support under the middle of the bed, that is if you have the original box. Very happy I could help but that was only as someone else had that same problem a few years ago and how they fixed it.

Thank you for the video Roberta I have learnt a lot, so far but can you tell me if I need to change the sponge bar in the ribber? I have bought one second hand and wondered if I should change it. Thank you

How is the sponge bar in the ribber? If it is a plastic one, no need as most ribbers did come with that plastic one and it does the job. If you find it doesn't work well, then getting a sponge bar would help.

Thanks for your vidéo,I buy a SRP50 Ribber bed recently and I follow your vidéo but when I push thé carriages from left to right to make ziz zag it does not work,the needles on the front carriage does not take the yarn do you know why,I am lost?the retaining bar for the needles is in plastic,not sponge bar,the needles are good I don't understand😹. Nathalie Letellier First of all, are those plastic parts on the ribber ends moved up? If so, then you may need to adjust the ribber horizontally kzbin.info/www/bejne/eHuagmt5f9mWgpo I am pretty sure is the video you need to watch next. Ribbers can have the plastic bar, no need for a sponge bar but if you want to get one, you can, but then you will be replacing that as you do for your knitter.

Hi Roberta, I have an Silver Reed SK-303 (4.5mm/200 steel needle) knitting machine. I can't find its ribbing attachment counterpart. Do you think an SRP50 or SRP60 ribber is compatible with my machine?

According to www.lacecarriage.com/studiomachines.htm, I suspect the SK301 would be the ribber you need, not 100% sure, but there was a ribber available back in 1967. Keep an eye out on eBay is all I can think of.

Thanks for your answer Roberta,but I try and try but now there are zig zag on the left,zig zag on the right but in the middle no zig zag?????do you think that it is the needles who are bad or another thing,I understand nothing😢🙀thanks for all

Nathalie Letellier Shucks, it almost sounds as though the ribber bed may be warped a bit. When you look at it from the side, does it look like the middle of it is out more? If so., then you may have to set the ribber upside down on a flat surface and then add some weight to hopefully straighten it out. I know of one other that had the problem. Some people will put the ribber up against the wall and in time, it will bend. I tend to keep mine in their box and laying flat on the floor. I have a couple of the boxes stacked one on top of the other. Other than that, I am unsure it would be the needles but you can try to switch them from the outside where they do work with the ones in the center to see if that is the case. That would be good if just the needles, but keep me posted.

I need help. I followed the instruction book and this good video but I ran into a snag. The knit needle bed are getting stuck in the rib arm when its feeding through. But when I push up the carriage as I slide the carriage across it clears the needles. What do I need to do to correct this problem I'm having? Please help if you can. It seems the slider is not lifting up the carriage to clear the needles.

Sorry your having that problem but you may want to view this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/eHuagmt5f9mWgpo as it shows how to adjust the horizontal and vertical setting of the ribber. Hope this is the fix. Berda

+Gloria Arizmendi The SK840 knitting machine as well as the SRP60, or other ribbers, I believe are still being sold brand new but you may also find then on eBay or other selling places
