Abby, I have never heard someone so openly and confidently say that all they want, their whole purpose, is to be a mom. Thank you for saying it. It's how I feel, and I've always been made to feel ashamed for it. My kids are each a year older than yours, and I've had such a hard tine saying it.

I’ve alwaysss felt this way. Untill one day I saw the world for what is is and how scary and negative it is and why would I want to bring a precious human in this dangerous world? Then I gatta deal with worrying about school shootings and other things or them to have depression and wish I never had them bc at the end of the day yes we have good moments too and it’s so important to make all situations in a positive light but life is just not forever and for me personally I have to live with being terried to die and I know I wish I was just never born so it’s just a lot honestly. It makes me sad but I stand on all this so much idk if I can get myself to selfishly bring a baby into the world. It’s so crazy though cause my whole life like I always wanted it I’ve cried bc being a young never happened for me (bc I didn’t wanna live with my mom and have a child or be tied to a shitty person for life) I still long to be pregnant and give birth and hold my baby and love them even more when they’re here and take care of them and be their voice and just be the best mom ever and give them so much love but it’s just a lot

Being a kid whose parents never showed any sort of affection or adoration for eachother definitely had an impact on how I viewed intimacy and healthy relationships and I can’t say it’s all positive. We have had 5 kids in 7 years. I like the close age gap, they all play together, we homeschool etc. we haven’t had a break from diapers in 7 years but it’s honestly kind of nice to just do it all in the beginning and then when we are done with diapers we are completely done, we don’t have to do it again in 5 years. There is honestly pros and cons to anything but we love having all our kids close together. You also have to remember that they aren’t all going to be toddlers, my 7 and 5 year old are very independent and helpful so in a way it gets easier. They aren’t as dependent on you for everything.

I have friends had there's later in life and they regret it and struggle. And the bonus is also when they have kids you are still young enough to run around and enjoy your grandchildren. I'm not much for commenting, but as a mother of two girls with a 6 year 13 days age gap, I can honestly say it was not like riding a bike. The time between them we forgot a lot of things that are needed for a newborn. It was like restarting completely because by then, all Iwe was thinking about was teaching my oldest how to read and write. If we had planned on 2, we would have definitely had them closer together. We were lucky that our 2nd was a much happier calmer baby, but still, it wasn't like riding a bike at all.

You could share things going on behind the scenes in those videos - thoughts, feelings, reflections from then to now, etc. Then maybe in a separate vid or part 2, you could reflect on the past, talk about the journey, & then talk about what you want in the future moving forward, even if that's intrinsic. Or if you don't go too in depth, keep it as a part of 1 video. Just an idea!

No shade at being young, but I highly doubt I was able to do that at her age, even if I thought so at the time. 😂 The wisdom, sincerity, and grace she speaks with keeps me coming back each week. I appreciate Matt, but love seeing a strong young woman owning who she is despite the pressure I know they get from social media. I can definitely take a page out of her book when it comes to achieving validation internally and not placing so much value on the opinion of others. Gyming for your mental health seems to be going great! I know you don't read these usually, but whoever sees this, big fan and will continue supporting! Great job guys!

That is what your videos have had me experience. Well done on your part as I wouldn't be surprised if many others experience the same thing as i have on here :) kudos to you both!

My kiddos are 6 years apart and I love it. I was able to enjoy all the things with our first and not have to focus on keeping another human alive. Now our oldest loves to help and be with his sister. Also my brother and I are 5 years apart and are the best of friends.

Homeschooler here! I love how you guys talk so positively about homeschool! A lot of people don’t understand and think that your kids will turn out socially awkward and won’t have any friends. I can tell you that I have lots of friends, and that it really depends on your child’s personality. I love being homeschooled, I love the flexibility and how you can customize it. I’m currently dual enrolled with the community college and will have one year of college finished by the time I graduate next year. Im so blessed to have been brought up the way I was and I wish everyone could have that opportunity. I do want to say that no matter what you do, your children will be different. No matter how many social activities they are involved in, being raised at home in a much different way than a lot of other kids will make a difference. That doesn’t mean it’s bad, on the contrary I think it’s great, but that is something that made me a little insecure when I was younger. I have such a hope for homeschooling with the new generation. There are so many parents deciding to homeschool their kids and I think that will bring such a great change to the stigma of homeschooling. I hope one day it will be as common as getting public education.

@blueskies7538 Literally summed up my thoughts perfectly. It’s always been crazy to me that people think we have no friends and no life or that we can’t communicate haha. In fact, when we were younger adults were always shocked with how well we could hold conversations with them.

There were 5 kids in my family growing up, and I LOVED that number! Something I’ve noticed with families of 4 is that the first 3 form a dynamic and then the 4th is pretty far removed from the oldest, and only close with the 3rd, who is close to everyone. Having 5 was perfect, because the first two went through everything together, the last 2 do everything, and the third bridges the gap relationally between everyone

Coming from one of 10 kids (no, we're not mormon haha), my momma has always said the first three kids were the hardest. After that the older ones are able to help with the kids. I love having a big family, and my best friends are my sisters and my mom. My mom is the most amazing woman I've ever known and ever will. ❤

I 100% agree with your thoughts on sleep training! I was also very hesitant for many months about it, then we all reached a breaking point with our then 6 month old daughter and I caved at 4am and bought Taking Cara Babies. BEST DECISION we ever made for our baby! She is now almost 1.5 years old, and her ability to sleep well has helped her in so many ways. Her temperament changed completely, she teethed all 16 of her teeth so far without any sleep disruption, she handles sickness better because she’s actually getting good rest at night… not to mention my husband and I are sleeping so well too. It’s been the best thing for our family across the board, couldn’t recommend it enough! I’m due with baby #2 in 10 days, and if needed, we will sleep train her as well because of all the benefits we’ve seen with our first!

I’m the youngest of 3 siblings all 6 years apart. (My oldest sister was 12 when I was born) It’s so nice having older siblings as examples and seeing how they both deal with their lives and decisions before I have to even consider mine. However I do kind of wish I had a sibling closer in age. We have such good relationships however seeing people with 2 year or even 4 year age gaps and watching their bond is so different from ours. They have a more relatable friendship type bond while the 12 year gap is more of a mentor type bond. My oldest sister was moved out of our house at 19 when I was only 6. Either way is amazing and the pros are so huge for both circumstances!! I love you both and you are so inspiring!!❤

Have them closer in age, not farther. We have 3 boys: ages 6,5,4 and one girl: 2 years old. We didn’t have near the amount of help as you guys, pretty much did it alone, and all of our boys had the most horrible colic we had ever seen in babies and didn’t sleep and we survived it. And now, they are all 4 the best of buds and will share the same memories and grow up together as besties. It’s worth the horrible newborn stages and the struggle of those early months because once you get past that it gets so much easier. You’ll realize that you can actually survive and thrive on much less rest than you thought you needed.

I am a college student and I was homeschooled for the most part but did public high school for a year. Homeschooling was a better experience and I had a better relationship with my family. I went to an amazing co-op and met all my childhood and current best friends there. I have lots of “family” from being homeschooled as it was an amazing community. It set me up for college better than public school did.

I was homeschooled from preschool through high school! I graduated with honors, a 4.0, and now am about to graduate nursing school with a 3.8! I was able to start college classes in high school, I did sports and co-ops, went to dances, and have so many friends that have started their own businesses while in high school.

Our 3rd was born when our 2nd child was 5 (& I was 37). Honestly, I loved the age difference. My older two were SO excited and helpful. It was nice that the older two were both in school together and I had time at home with the baby to do some one on one bonding. ❤️ my youngest is now almost 7 and even though there’s an age difference, he has fun with both of his older brothers.

Matt description of it being hard, was so acurate of how my partner and I feel. We had a tough colic baby as well and sleep methods just didnt work for her...she runs her life on her own terms. But it is seriously so much harder than children i took care of in the past and challenged every thought of who I was as a person and if I could I have another.
