Adele & Jessie Ware: Studio Vocal Battle (C3 - F5 - B♭5)

Two talented British singers, both are lyric mezzo-soprano and have great song-writing skill. They were even friends too. So I decided to compare these two amazing women: Adele & Jessie Ware.
Lower Register: C3 - G3
Mixed Register: A4 - F5
Head Voice/Falsetto: E♭5 - B♭5
It's a pretty fair comparison. Both are lyric mezzo, though Adele has slightly lower tessitura.
Anyway, hoping for a duet between them too!

Actually I'm planning to make a studio vocal range for Jessie! But I'll have to wait until her 3rd album to be released (probably in this year) And I was confused about that note being B2 or just C3. It should be B2 but I kept hearing it as C3, idk xD

I don't know. I think there will be more notes to showcase, lower notes, higher belts and higher falsetto/head voice. But she already has 3 octaves range now. Maybe I just do it right now and update the video after her new album is released? xD

Hmm, I'm only familiar with Tove Lo's music. I think she has great high note in Heroes (Could Be). I've heard of Katy B and Olly Alexander (he's from Years & Years right?) as well, but don't know much about there music. But let me see what I can do! xD

Jessie ware is my cousin and has been singing since she was born. If she saw this she would laugh because they are good friends. Also Jessie is maybe one of the nicest, funniest people you’ll ever meet. 💋💗

Adele is not an Mezzo! Accept that she is an alto with a good tessitura!

I think this has been discussed a lot. "Alto" is a choral part, not a vocal type/fach. Adele may sing in alto range, but she's not an alto/contralto. Her voice is too feminine to be a contralto. Everything in her voice screams mezzo-soprano.

Also, in this video, you can see her voice is pretty matched with Jessie Ware, who is genuinely a Lyric Mezzo. If you compare her with another real contralto like Cher or Annie Lennox, you'll see the differences.

I don't agree with you, because if you analysis some notes after B4 you will see that she don't have a control like an mezzo do! Do you can see that? In my opnion, I think that she is an contralto with lyric voice. If you study her past music ( like 19 album) you will see so many problem to hit some high notes that see can do now after being pregnant. After 21, Adele study a lot of more music and evolved so much her voice. ( My english is not so good, I'm sorry if I wrote sometinhg wrong )

Great video, but I do think Jessie Ware is a Soprano. Her G3's already sound very dark and 'airy', compared to Adele who has a very true Mezzo-Soprano voice. Her C5's in "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes" sound very effortless and easy. On top of that, her timbre is very feminine and reminiscent of other matured sopranos. Her D5s, Eb5s, and E5s all sound very bright and again, effortless. Her Head Voice/Falsetto sounds very ringy and bright, too. I'm a Mezzo Soprano with a fairly high tessitura and even I can't sing high as effortless as she can ^^"

I agree with you at some points. Her G3 here was airy comparing to Adele's. But I still think that Jessie is more of a mezzo. Despite that airy G3, her lower register is better than what a soprano expected to have. Her Eb3 here was very chesty/solid. Her tessitura is lower than that of a regular soprano too, though she phrases pretty well in 5th octave. But if she was a soprano, she supposed to belt higher than this F5. And her belting may sound good here, she is very weak in live performance. I don't know if it was because of lacking technique or what. She usually sings the Say You Love Me's D5's in falsetto, instead of belting them. That's why I think she's a mezzo? What do you think?

Qanh Musicz I guess you're right, but Ariana's Eb3 was great when she was younger even though she's a Light-Lyric Soprano (and younger). Her tessitura is lower, which is true, but even Gaga phrases well in the 5th octave and she's a Lyric Mezzo. I don't think the belting argument can really be made, because Cher Lloyd can't belt that high and she's a soubrette soprano. I've never heard her live so I should probably do that XD haha But it's definitely due to poor technique. But that's just what I think, feel free to reply! :o

Cher Lloyd's case was definitely because of poor technique! xD Actually, I was confused about Jessie's vocal type at first too. Probably we'll have to wait until she fully develop her singing technique so that we can tell what her vocal type is! But so far, I believe she is a Lyric Mezzo

Jesse is a lyric Soprano. Her voice only has strength starting around G3. Her pure low register is not spectacular, it is quite weak, not much in the way of volume in a live setting. Her high register though is angelic, just heavenly!
