There is a video of her singing an ‘acoustic’ of ‘to be loved’. It’s not an acoustic, it’s the one she recorded for the album but without the final production. She recorded the vocal but also video on her laptop where she was most comfortable (which I think was at her house) she said that she will never perform that song live, as she will never get the same emotion into the song as she did when she recorded it. The album as a whole is absolutely stunning! There are no weak songs. The album takes you on a complete journey, and has to be listened to in track order. In fact, she stipulated that on music streaming services (Spotify ect..) that the album can’t be played on shuffle, so you HAVE to listen to it from beginning to end in track order. She is going to SLAY the Grammies next yr, she can’t not with this masterpiece of an album

The most transparent & honest reaction of this album! Love it! BTW - To be loved was written to reflect the childhood trauma Adele experienced in her relationship with her non-existent father (also an alcoholic). She states that all she wanted was to fill the void of being loved & love someone but can never because of her dads failure to do that for her. He fell ill early 2021 with cancer & she visited him in the hopes of expressing her feelings through this song. She got to play To be loved for him & the full 30 Album to her father before his passing in May 2021. What a song!

That little part in "Strangers by Nature" made me cry too. I was like wtf? 🤣 I has a similar reaction as you did. I'm 50 with a 28yr old son but I was in a relationship for 10 yrs (from the time my son was 1) and I was miserable but stayed for my son he loved this man like a father and when I broke it off he took it very hard. I think any “mixed reviews” are from people who simple refuse to relate to the material and only listened at face value. I personally relate because I ended my relationship with my son’s dad very early in his life but within the last 1-2 years I’ve been dealing with the emotional backlash for him. I’m the same age as Adele and my son is one year older than her son so this album hits DEEP. But I feel like anyone that has left a relationship because you know it can no longer emotionally serve and fulfill you. It’s being the heartbreaker while also being heartbroken.
