You can still do it! Make small test abstract. They can be as small as you can afford.

I started off with a mixed media 7x10 art book to draw and paint in. Also used charcoal and setting spray then painted over it after I spread the charcoal with my fingers. Lots cheaper than ruining canvas!

I wish people didn’t complain about lack of money for all the world to hear😭 Experimenting and having fun is a mindset - money has nothing to do with it.

I see many comments to the effect of, “I don’t see the depth”. It takes direct viewing to see it. Compare a painting you like in a museum to a print of it....the print is only a reminder of what you saw and loved. Digital photography and videography are better than a print, but still are only a reminder of what you see in person. You’re brave for trying this, Adele. Thanks!

I love this painting! The techniques are so great- contrast is critical, light on top of dark for depth. The saran wrap method- love love love. Of course the magic always happens in the moment, allowing things to flow thru you. I am an abstract painter and I really appreciate this video.

Hi Adele! I'm moving from realism to abstract and you're right, abstract is much more difficult. One really has to create something from nothing as opposed to copying something that already exists. My question is when you are 'glazing' in White, is it Opaque or Transparent?

Hi go look upMary Newcomb an old friend of mine. She passed but I think you would like her style. She is in the Tate in London. She never went to art school was actually a maths teacher. She lived in amazing old old Tudor houses but she was a poet and have great observation of nature.

I love your unusual art tools like the branch and seran wrap. You're paintings are lovely and thought provoking. Found you via Sunny L. in a testimonial video and I'm so glad I did. I'm always searching for successful artists who are using digital products like online courses and memberships to make a living, since that's what I'm aspiring to be and there are not a whole lot of artists who are successful in this online marketplace so thanks for the inspiration. I've subscribed!

I will never understand how people say abstract is harder. I watch every now and then only because this is the process my kindergarten students use. Yet, always my students, despite the age, want to learn how to draw and paint so they can create animals, people etc. Imagination is another subject, but abstract doesn't take any real imagination. I just can't connivence myself to paint this way.

You can tell when a painter has a feeling or an emotion in mind when they paint, and with this painting you can tell when an artist does not.
