Adept Cosmetics Seahorse palette | arm swatches, swatch comparisons and eye swatches

Adept Cosmetics’ new palette "Seahorse" is being released on the 26th of May, 2023 and it is going to be a permanent palette. It currently retails for 140 USD, but with creator codes it comes down to 126 USD for 15 shades. In this video I am showing you arm swatches, swatch comparisons, and some eye swatches of the shades. I only included swatch comparisons for shades I have some similar shades to.
I feel even though most of the shades look like they are multichromes, there are definitely some shades that don't look like multichromes to me (for example Lowcrown, Tyro, False eye).

Summary: There are two main formulas in this palette, textured and smooth. Textured shades are more reflective, nevertheless, in direct light all shades are quite sparkly. The formula for the textured shades is more similar to the formula of the textured shade from the Inspired palette, and they are definitely not as emollient as the ones in the Minka palette. Smooth shades also feel like they are drier, so it may be harder to pick them up with a finger but they last much longer without creasing on my extremely hooded eyes.
My descriptions of the shades (may differ than the brand):
First row:
✨Courtship (textured): Aqua base with pink leaning rainbow sparkles.
✨ Big belly (smooth): Darker aqua base pink purple shifts
✨ Tiger tail (textured): warm purple base with gold green shifts
✨ Giraffe (textured): Cool toned light purple with rainbow sparkles. Green and pink dominate the shifts. Very reflective.
✨ Lowcrown: Cool toned light purple/lavender base with peachy gold shifts
Second row:
✨Jayakar’s (smooth): sheer base blue pink purple shifts
✨ Pygmy thorny (smooth): sheer base blue purple shifts but more true blue leaning than Jayakar’s
✨ Tyro (smooth): blends into a salmon shade. Nude colour with coloured sparkles.
✨ False eye (smooth): sheer base pastel green with a silver sheen
✨ Narrow bellied (textured): vibrant pastel green with pastel blue/mint, peach and gold shifts
Third row:
✨Long snout (smooth): sheer base orange with pink and yellow shifts (iridescent)
✨Paradoxical (smooth): dark pink and peach shifts on a barely there blue green base (iridescent)
✨ Sindo (smooth): slightly larger particle size than Paradoxical. Cooler pink peach shifts with a little bit more visible blue base
✨ Pontoh (textured): almost barbie pink with peach yellow shifts
✨Soft coral (textured): pink base with gold green blue purple shifts. Less textured than Pontoh.

Thank you for your beautiful swatches, comparisons and review! As gorgeous as it is I just can't get behind the $140 price tag! That's more than a pmg and natasha denona palette which are already expensive on their own. Plus I own shades like these lol.

If you have similar singles and if you don't wish to have dupes in your collection, I think it is an easy choice to skip this palette and maybe keep funds for something that brings extra value to your collection ☺

Great video! It's strange how similar some of those shades are! The two iridescent blues look identical, and so do Courtship and Tiger Tail

The blues look very similar indeed, they are different though but the difference is more obvious if you look at them in direct sunlight. On the eye it maybe more difficult to distinguish them. However Courtship and Tiger tail are very different. Courtship has an aqua / light turquoise base with pink green shifts whereas Tiger tail has a darker warm purple base with very strong cool green to gold shifts. In person they are very different.

I would maybe pop out one or two shades and add some darker shades from Ninhydrin for depth or one neutral matte from LA CIENEGA, or maybe one crazy shiny shade from Minka if you will have a party during the travels 😉 and it would be perfect for traveling. Another reason to love the Adept concept, you can always go for BYOPs within the brand

I agree it is an expensive palette. I think it is perfect for someone who might just be starting to play with multichromes, and doesn't have many singles. Then it's like a beautiful selection bundled together.

If you don't have much singles then this is probably going to be your "that extra touch of magic" kind of palette. I think it combines so well with palettes with either pastel matte/satins or then neutrals. 🥰

I love the comparison swatches, bc I'm all sorts of conflicted about buying this still. Did you see similarities to TM shades in any of the other shades besides the ones you did comparisons for? Lovely video!

I had to go back and check so it took me a while to respond. So full disclosure, I don't have the entire TM collection, I only have about 130 singles or so from TM, and I haven't picked up anything after the fall 2022 release. But, within those I could find one similar (but definitely not identical shade). TM Radiation is kind of similar to the shade narrow bellied, BUT Radiation is darker, and Narrow bellied has some sort of pink sparkles in it. I'm not sure if this was visible in the swatches even though I made sure to add soft focus footage to show these additional colors. TM Flare star (pink with yellowy shifts) is much darker than Pontoh. And nothing else I have from TM is close to the rest of the shades. I hope this helps, let me know if you have other questions ☺

Love this video. I have a lot of the similar shades from TOGB, but i still need the adept palette. It isn’t my fault they are not identical. 🤣 I appreciate the the separation of the swatch categories. I like seeing the palette together and then each shade with it’s similar nrands.

Thank you for the swatches. I placed an order 2 days ago without seeing many swatches/videos. Which textures are these shadows similar to among Adept’s other palettes? I’m hoping there aren’t too many like the chunky Minka shadows.

I had to go back to my other Adept palettes to compare. So, there are two main types of formulas in this palette, one has more textured shades and the other is smooth shades. I would say the difference arises from the particle size of the pigment and not really a difference in the binder used (this is my speculation). Now, if we come to how these formulas compare to other Adept palettes: the textured shades somehow feel most similar to the textured shade in the Inspired palette (Warren Patel). For instance the PCH or Santa Monica Blvd shades from the LA CIENEGA palette have similar particle size but those shades are more emollient/wet to the touch. If you have Ninhydrin or Heather Austin, the large particle shimmer shades there are creamier than the Seahorse palette. Minka is a completely different beast. Minka has super chunky pigments and much more binder, Seahorse is nothing like that. As for the smooth shades, I had the feeling they feel more similar to the Plain Jane palette I have, so perhaps less creamy (and definitely leading to reduced creasing) but more sparkly (Plain Jane shades are more metallic than sparkly for me). But again, keep in mind that my analysis is purely based on the Seahorse palette I have in my hand :) I hope this answer helps
