Swarmer missiles are great for intermaniple relations but it's largest advantage for warhounds is it's pairings. Swarmer plus Cbeamer is a contender for saying good bye to the plasma blastgun. Swarmer plus lasers is a great and cheap shield stripper. It even provides some life to the poor grav cannon. The incisor wants to be paired with either a flamer to target the wounded area or with a volkite, so you can blow a hole and then push the Volkite to drill into it for a kill.

I should say, Stormborn provides good reactor economy for Warhounds, and not just in a Ferrox. If you can line up the charge corridors, you can move quite quickly for free while still keeping the reactor cold and your guns in play for the combat phase. Mandatum & Precept keep it quite reliable, as does Bloodthirst if it’s worth burning 1 SP, and War Lust is always potentially a buff (though I’d save War Lust more for Unbridled Hatred and long bomb charges that need to connect). Outside of a Ferrox, I’ve used it most in Mandatum, Corsair, and even Ruptura (saves the free push for a gunnery Reaver) - where rapidly repositioning Warbringers can be an unexpected surprise for your opponent ;)

Another point in favour of running Tempestus as loyalists is that corruptions will make your glory in death rolls harder. I'd recommend giving Stormborn a go, not just in the obvious Ferrox but in any maniple with lots of warhounds or reavers - I've had a bit of luck running Lupercals or Precepts and using charge orders to get warhounds very reliably up the board, without sacrificing firepower by using full stride. This can force opponents to turn to face flanking titans, setting them up for the combat drop the following turn. Actually making a charge move and punching something is often just a nice bonus. :P

Very good points! Not considered that for warhounds!

Swarmer I’m loving; those are going to show up in support Warhound builds when I’m running Regias or Precepts for sure. The Incisor Melta is interesting and rough. It really needs to live in a Ferrox and wants to get close. I think it’s coming… but it’s going on a Full Stride early or it’s going in on an Outflanker. I still like it, but I’m thinking of what I can do with it on a War Griffons Warhound in a Ferrox going after its dueling target (3+s, rerolling 1s), maybe paired with a Volkite for the burn through. I agree about Melta/Plasma… but I’d put that on an Outflanker or a Tempestus Combat Drop where just the threat of that coming down is going to change your opponent’s playstyle.

I’m looking forward to seeing if these meltas make much of an appearance at beachhead and be tested in a tournament setting!

The melta incisor feels like a balanced plasma IMO, meaning it's powerful but I don't see it getting dethroned (the blastgun is still a pocket sunfury). It's half the shots, and 10" range means you have the real risk of something like a Corsair Reaver just moonwalking out of range or having to push to get into 5" fusion range, at which point it's more of a reactor risk than using max fire on the plasma.
@Maximalfire10 ай бұрын
Because the plasma is so OP for what it is everything is more balanced - but while the plasma is so imbalanced it’s hard to dethrone!

While swarmer missiles are interesting, I don't know that they're going to be as impactful as people are thinking. Particularly with regards to Regia maniples - while it may be that the availability of a long range shield stripper might change the way they play, most of the successful regia maniples I've seen have been extremely aggressive, with both warhounds and warlords loaded for brawling all charging up the field, and if you're doing that then having long range options without barrage on a fragile chassis aren't as helpful. The shudder missiles on the other hand look brutal. Quake is just so good, and while they only have two dice that's usually enough.

i wish we could get some after action reports from the games at beach head this year just to see the players thoughts between games on the new weapons game to game to see if opinions change through out the tournaments. maybe even ask everyone at the start of the day then ask everyone at the end of the day to see if anything changes

We plan on vlogging the event as much as possible this year and publishing it after the fact. We also publish a meta watch article after every event we do with all the analysis - it will be on our website

Melta needs +1 to hit at short rng the ranges are restrictive enough. probably drop the -1 for long range too. Im not sure thats even enought to close the Gap with the PBG still. So no change for For Titanicus. Im interested to see if other loadouts will be more optimal in Legiones ... PBG and Vulcan is King of Titanicus , would be interesting if it's not a no brainer in Epic...

Just wondering what you guys think of a Incisor combined with Legio Magna. Yes it's an additional 20 points for the gun, driving the cost past the blastgun quite considerably. But, you're long range is now between 9" and 10", and your fusion range is extended. It's probably too expensive for such a weak unit, but i'm new to AT so interested to hear what people think.
@Maximalfire9 ай бұрын
It does make it very expensive, it’s probably a better use for it than it is currently but that’s a lot of points to mitigate a weapons flaws

For me the Incisor is a non starter. The Warhound is fragile and unless you're playing an all warhound list like Audax it could be a points drain. On the flip side, Audax, preternatural grace and a few of these is going to be disgusting. The shudder missiles are Knight killers. The warmer may be my go to now for non Vulturum lists.

100% to agree on the wait to cover LI until an actual FAQ (or some game changing releases). Until infiltrate, and Solar, are reigned in, it's a strictly narrative game (I use the term game loosely). Looking forward to your legio reviews I loved that content you and Ben made so long ago.
@gstealer1110 ай бұрын
I'm no where near competitive player and dont have a lot of games under my belt, but i think the new warhound choices are going to be a fun and annoying option for a Solaria corsair maniple running 3 warhounds to dance around the board.

It’ll be interesting to see how the community moves, once the new titan lists/games supplement is released for Legions Imperialis. Personally, I’d rather play a bigger, simpler game. It’s an excuse to buy more Titans and knights!
@Maximalfire10 ай бұрын
Remains to be seen with the new massive game mode (and it is massive - 6000 points in LI is 10 warlords after all). For me that will be the only draw to playing Titan games in LI. It doesn’t have anywhere close to the ‘narrative’ of Titan battles that you get from AT. However for the odd super game? It’s going to be great.
@mcairns284610 ай бұрын
I prefer AT much more. IL is fun and cool but is too simple for me. Doesn't have the same flavour and feel for me.
