At this point, Corvus could literally be the one handing out warp-induced power boosts to the whole Imperium and Tzeench would just pretend he hasn't noticed. Seriously, Corax's warp form is the very definition of "spooky dangerous".

Once upon a battlefield dreary, where I cowered, spent and bleary, Within an Imperial bunker, darkly stained with dust and gore - As I cowered, nearly shuttering, suddenly there came a sputtering As some weapon quickly stuttering - firing at my bunker door. "`Tis some bolter", I murmmered, "firing at my bunker door - Only this and nothing more." Ah, distinctly I remember, it was in the bleak December, And the brightly burning bastions lit the horizion by the score. Eagerly, on freedom drunker; - vainly had I sought to hunker In this heavy Imperial bunker - with perhaps a tunnel in the floor - A safe and empty fortress with perhaps a tiny tunnel in the floor - Only this and nothing more. And the mad raving howling of each distant Space Wolf prowling Thrilled me - filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before. So that now, to the beating of my heart, I stood entreating "`Tis some Space Wolf there repeating, firing at my bunker door - Some common Grey Hunter rapid-firing at my bunker door - This it is and nothing more." Presently my soul grew stronger; hesitating then no longer "Marine," said I, "or Scout, your attention I implore; The bunker walls are thick - they are made of tempered brick And your bolters do not nick the slightest scratch or tiny score - Not a dimple, dent, depression, dip, scratch or tiny score - Away now, and fire no more." Then in the bunker slumping, presently I heard a thumping A pounding - rattling many times fiercer than before. And soon I began to screech - the bunker wall grenades did breach; The very gods I did beseech as the ceiling fell upon the floor - Through the wounds poured light which danced upon the floor - Danced amidst the sounds of war. Then at once it stopped the violence - I was left alone with silence Confused, I spied the reason why the shells did drop no more - For as I began to shutter, then with many a flit and flutter a psyber-Raven flew through the clutter to perch above the door - Perched on the two-headed eagle just above the bunker door - Perched and sat and nothing more. At this I grew more craven, for the talons of the psyber-Raven Were all over covered with bright red blood and crimson gore. "Wretch!" I cried, "Njal hath lent thee - into this fortress has he sent thee So that remotely may he here be - and this bunker then explore - Scry out my exact location and this bunker then explore -" Quoth the Raven, "Eversor" Then, methought, the air grew darker, the bunker now a little starker For the uttered word brought terror as I had never felt before. As for weapons, I knew I had none - no bolter, sword or lasgun; No arms to stop the war's son fated to break soon through the door - The blood-mad crazed assassin fated to break soon through the door- Quoth the Raven, "Eversor" "Be that word our sign of parting, machine or bird!" I shrieked, upstarting - "Get thee back into the fire-fight and here spy on me no more! For as you came unbidden - I would otherwise be here hidden - Leave my location in this midden - quit that icon above my door! Take thy shining metal eye, and take thy form from off my door!" Quoth the Raven, "Eversor" And the Raven, never flitting, still is sitting - still is sitting On the pallid two-headed eagle just above the bunker door; His metal eye has all the seeming of a psyker that is scheming, To have my guts lie steaming in a pile upon the floor; And now all hope has left me, crouched here upon the floor I await the Eversor!

In regards to the Corvus vs Konrad stuff, Corvus' biggest fear is that deep down he is as bad as Kurz. Since they share the same flaw, of being unable to let go of injustice and see them go unpunished.
@tokenbastard4586
@tokenbastard4586 Жыл бұрын
Exacerbated by their mutual hatred of each other. Corax hating Curze is obvious, but Night Haunter's reasoning makes just as much sense: jealousy. ‘I’ll tell you why. Envy of his mastery lay behind my hatred. I haunted the night, but Corax owned it.’
@FabryLON
@FabryLON Жыл бұрын
that's very true. At Istavaan, Corvus didn't run away from Konrad because he was afraid of him...he wasn't stupid enough to fight against two primarchs on his own. I think Corvus and Konrad, both creatures of the night, are kinda the ying to the yang of each other. It is also known that Konrad hated Corvus - i.e., was jealous of him - since, as he himself said: "I had to hunt the night while he owned it."

Propably also part of the reason Corvus went into the Eye of Terror. He knew he would end up mutated beyond recognition, but who was he to evade such a fate if he could not protect his sons from that same fate? Also a contrast to Konrad Curze, who dreaded the Eye of Terror his whole life and post-Heresy travelled towards the eastern side of the galaxy.

@@JoshuaAndresI think his is more of a cross between the Celtic Morrigan, as a bringer of death (to tyrants), war (guerrilla revolution), fury, magic/witchcraft (in his new warp form), retribution, and E. A. Poe’s works. His connections with Odin are kinda limited, as he’s not especially wise compared to his brothers, nor magical or one-eyed like magny magic, and he isn’t much of a trickster like Odin typically was (trickster in this case meaning he outsmarts people by being clever rather than being chaotic like Loki)

I think what makes corvus so likeable to me is how human he feels. Like the primarchs are all flawed, but their flaws seem supersized because of their status. But corax just doesnt feel that way to me, like for instance his speech from weregeld. "It was a mistake... we were a mistake brother, i know that now. I see it for my self in my own blundering, i see it in the eyes of the mistakes i created" "how could i have been blind to it for so long? Pride? Arrogance, perhaps? To think we were better, stronger, special." "I look at Curze and i see myself. Do you find Angron in your reflection? How thin is the vineer that keeps us loyal, keeps us civilized?" And "i used to think there was righteous justice. That whatever i did, it served humanity. There is only one way left to aid mankind, and it does not include out survival, O King of Wolves." "You often spoke of the fenrisian notion if a good death. If there is such a thing, i desire it. I shouldve taken it on isstvan. Time and again fate presented me an oppourtunity and i denied it. Against Curze and Lorgar. I could have ended their vileness. And Angron. How many has he butchered since i fled his axes?"

i agree. you do have other friendly primarchs such as vulkan but vulkan is much more focused on protection of general human populations and being the best craftsman in the galaxy rather than corvus's down to earth humble feel. this is kind of why when 'if the emperor had a TTS" fanimation had the bro trip special thing with vulkan and corvus it was ironic because they are both considered the "friendly" and nice primarchs but one of humble and stealthy, and the other is vulkan, who is about as stealthy as his flamer is cold

Honestly one of my favorite Corax excerpt I've seen is when he and the remaining Raven Guard was escaping after Istvaan and they met a traitor ship (I can't remember if it was Deliverance or Battle for the Abyss). Since the traitors like the Warp so much, he ran next to the ship and activated his warp drive, which dragged the traitor ship into the Warp... without their Gellar fields. It's actually quite funny since the commander of ship took a moment to realize what just happened, said "Oh", looks down and sees a tentacles burst from his chest from warp mutation.

One of my favorite moments from Corvus was when his ship got stopped by Imperial Fists who demanded the ship be searched. The Ravenguard with him were like "no, who have a Primarch on board, you don't have the authority", Corvus cut in and told the fists "no, its fine, you may come aboard and search my ship" When the Ravenguard then asked Corvus why he gave into the demands of the Imperial Fist, saying the fist was being an idiot, Corvus just responded "He's an Imperial Fist, he can't help it"

I think Guilliman, after a few millennia in the Warp would gain a precognition talent. Although more "hyper-simulation" style precognition rather than future-sight. In his domain, *everything* is accounted for. Whatever tactic you try to devise against him, he knew you'd choose to do that already... provided he had the data input to simulate that. Add to that an Emperor-like Presence supercharge where everyone feels a need to kneel around him, and obey his commands. After all, his thing is.. well, logistics, grand strategy, and rallying armies. At least on the combat side of things. Still losing duels, but actually forcing him into a duel that he didn't _"Just as Planned"_ would be the hard part.

Corvus feels like the guy that's willing to get shit done in the most efficient means possible, but is a huge softy on the inside. His loyalty is measured equally to his strong sense of justice and compassion for his compatriots and civillians. Perhaps not on the same level as say Vulcan, but noticeably more than most primarchs. On top of his suprisingly excellent combat performance, Corvus is a very underrated primarch. And in spite of the hardships faced by the legion (and all their brooding), their chapter and it's offshoots still continue to faithfully follow Corvus' will in 40K.

The thing is Corvus still acknowledges the practical and ends justify the means. @@SWProductions100 Honestly yeah Big E had about as much cold indifference to the general suffering of mankind as the current Imperium has to human suffering the difference was just the ends they were aiming for. Having a freedom fighter going around doing primarch levels of revolutions is just as important as having someone around to push for change from the top. The slow push from Guilleman can encourage and fuel the desire for change Corvus makes then making pushing from the top easier.

Corax's final speech could have been a good starting quote Also Deliverance Lost gives us glimpses into his early life and shows his meeting with the Emperor. He also has a Primarch book. But Deliverance lost, while it isnt just his origin story, most Primarchs Origin Stories are split between their upbringing and later events. Angel Exterminatus gives us Perturabo's upbringing and the time he spends with Fulgrim during the Heresy. Burried Dagger gives us Mortarions Upbringing and Meeting the Emperor and also shows us how he fell to Nurgle during the Heresy. Angrons Primarch Book shows us his Upbringing and the events showcasing why his Legion had a bit of a mini-civil war just before Angrons famous fight with Leman. Deliverance lost as mentioned. The only ones that dont split Origins with another story line are Descent of Angels, about 70% of which is Lions Origin Story from the perspective of one of his Knights and Alpharius's Primarch Book, which is Alpharius's Discover, Upbringing and then his quest to find Omegon. Havent got round to Sanguinius's so I'm not sure but I'm pretty sure we see his meeting with the Emperor, so I'm not sure how much of his upbringing we get and whether or not it's shared with another plot-line. Also not sure if Kurze's Primarch book is shared but I do know it contains some of his life on Nostramo.

So happy that AR finally made an episode on my favourite primarch :D It's such a shame that both Corvus and the Raven Guard got so little attention from GW in the lore and have considerably fewer fans than they deserve... In their second fight, it's not that Lorgar couldn't beat him...as a demon primarch, he's very sure of himself: "I'm not the same you fought on Istavaan, brother" "Neither am I..." to which Corvus proceed to absolutely murder Lorgar. The thing about Lorgar is that he's usually referred to as the weakest of the primarchs...he was never meant to be a fighter, as his job was to spread the Imperial Truth. Nevertheless, he was able to hold his own against Guilliman (sure, Bobby G is not a particularly good duelist, but it showed that Lorgar is not useless in a fight) and he is a very powerful psyker (arguably second only to Magnus). The problem is that he had the brilliant idea of challenging (twice) one of the strongest and most dangerous duelists among the primarchs. People tend to forget how good of a fighter Corvus is...I'd say that, in a 1 v 1 situation, few primarchs are as good as Corvus. The Lion and Sanguinius are probably the overall best, but Corvus was roughly at the same level as Konrad (though the latter's premonition is quite the bonus), and slightly better than other top-tier duelists such as Dorn, Fulgrim, and the Khan. And speaking of Lorgar, in terms of overall power and potential, would have been better as a loyalist...sure, as a demon primarch, he is very powerful (though I wouldn't say he's the most powerful...Mortarion is very powerful, while Angron is terrifying). Nevertheless, imagine a fervent zealot loyalist Lorgar powered up by his faith in the God Emperor...he would be insane, a saint primarch or something lol (although, after Monarchia it would have been quite difficult keeping Lorgag loyalist...especially considering that he was surrounded by dickheads) The whole Corvus - Konrad thing is super interesting; they are very similar, being creatures of the night but both with a strong sense of justice...kinda the two faces of the same coin. Konrad, after all, could have turned completely different if he had met the only good person in Nostromo, but instead, he was alone while being tormented by his crazy visions. At Istavaan, Corvus didn't retreat because he was afraid of Konrad per se...he just didn't want to fight two primarchs at the same time. Also, Konrad is what Corvus could have become, which is what terrifies Corvus. At the same time, Konrad's hatred of Corax is driven mostly by jealousy. As he said himself: "I had to haunt the night, while he owned it"

Strangely enough, the Raven guard are the equivalent of ork's stealth with more thought put into it. The ork tactics of attacking the rear flank of an enemy is hated by other orks as it's not orky enough. The raven guard typically ambush, hit and run, flank assaults, and do anything to shoot and not get shot at. It's not really stealthy considering they are space marines, but it's stealthier than other space marines. So they are seen as the stealthy dishonorable space marines.

When Corvus began attacking the Word Bearers on their daemon world, they first thought it was strange warp phenomena because they'd turn a corner and find several of their battle brothers scattered about completely mangled, then when the attacks started becoming more and more frequent and brutal, they thought a sorcerer had summoned a daemon and the binding ritual had failed, now it was rampaging about. During an especially fierce fight when trying to contain what they thought was a rampaging daemon, the sounds of the fighting brought Lorgar out of his sanctuary and he immediately recognized Corvus. Corvus and Lorgar faced off momentarily, and Lorgar wound up fleeing. Corvus shouted that he would not stop until Lorgar lies dead at his feet. Lorgar might be juiced to the gills on the chaos 'roids, but he is still lacking when it comes to dueling skills. It's kind of the equivalent of a guy who can easily flip cars with his bare hands, but doesn't know how to properly throw a punch getting into a ring with a boxer.

I can die happy if someone mixed cannon with TTS and made fanart of Daemon Corvus dunking on Lorgar with the TTS Engine of Woes

Bricky: It’s not Leman Russ. How does a werewolf have anything to do with Halloween?

In defense of DK’s Russ choice, he is basically a werewolf so he had the Halloween part down

I can't wait to see where the daemon corvus thing goes. Hopefully he gets to meet the lion at some point, that interaction would be fun. Though yeah it really is a shame how little there actually is on him. But I'll be damned if that daemon corvus mini isn't absolutely incredible whenever it comes out. The amount of potential there is massive.

I fucking love Corvus. He’s my second favorite after Vulkan and the fact that we have to wait for like 15-20 years for him to return makes me depressed. *sad bird noices*

_"have to wait for like 15-20 years for him to return makes me depressed."_ Perfectly on-brand for a fan of Corvus.
