How can you have that voice, the talent to put together that grove, and write words to a song like that? He must be a genius.

This was the B side to Proud Mary which was released first. John Fogarty's voice is raw and powerful on this tune. Such a fantastic sound for CCR makes them so recognizable. You swear they lived in the Bayou instead of California. Great reaction Harri. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

CCR has always been one of my favorites from the 60's-70's. They don't have a bad song! John Fogerty has one of the most unique & recognizable voices around. All their songs are great. You've done quite a few already but lots more to react to such as "Proud Mary", "Lodi", "Green River", "Commotion", "Night Time Is The Right Time", "Down On The Corner", "Cotton Fields", "Midnight Special", "Travelin' Band", "Run Through The Jungle", "Long As I Can See the Light", "Suzie Q", "Sweet Hitch-Hiker" etc.

This song encapsulates Forth of July celebrations spent with family for barbecue/cookout in the back yard; perhaps attending a patriotic parade and speeches by local candidates running for some government office (speeches were not my favorite as a child, although the brass bands and parades were fun); homemade ice-cream, and best of all....fireworks in the evening as soon as it got dark! This song brings back happy memories.....I can almost hear the clank of horse-shoes being tossed, see the long tables of delectable food.

CCR has an incredible catalogue of great songs all crammed into the short space of time they were together as CCR. They were so prolific that they released 3 great albums in one year (1969). There was no such thing as a bad song from the band during those folded years.

Lots of CCR songs focus on the Louisana low country swap culture and vibe from New Orleans to Memphis on the Mississippi river and everwhere in between. Rock and Roll started in this culture in the 50's and it produced lots of artists and great music that carried over 10-15 years later with CCR capitavated by the same vibe and adopting it as their own. Unique take on the culture and John Forarty songwriting and unique voice just was so so good!

Another great jam band that could also make hits. John Fogerty is a beast, and they have such a distinctive sound. So many great songs, from iconic anti-war song “Fortunate Son” to hit songs like “Up Around the Bend”, “Looking Out My Back Door”, “Suzy Q”, “Proud Mary”, to a favorite cover of “Heard it Through the Grapevine”. Great choice.✌️❤️🎶

Always loved playing this loud with the bass cranked up when we cruised the bayous of S. Louisiana - such a proper groove for where we were, doing what we were doing. Don't let "The Man" getcha, could be any government entity or agency; backwoodsmen and people of the swamps and bayous tend to distrust governments of all shapes and sizes - the ideal is to get out of the way of the citizenry and let us live our lives and raise our families. Government gets involved and it means they must raise revenue to pay for their time and trouble disrupting things, and they take the revenue from the citizenry.

That's hilarious, you nailed it. Man that would be awesome with the gospel choir maybe on the later refrains definitely. And you have absolutely got to check out hide away and then also a song they do called put a candle in the window and I would say a third song in that direction is feeling blue. You'll get a strong gospel just incredible compositions man but they had so many that's the problem. I would also say for a total all out rocker, it fell out of the sky. And then you've got the one that they do go political about Vietnam and it's called every mother's son. It is the most emotional thing I've ever heard and it's musically top notch. I wish you'd react to some of those. Then you'll know the real credence. Not just the big hits.
