Thanks for your comment. Love the song but hadn't listened to the album, but I can tell you, while going through some crap at the moment, this album has become a real inspiration for me. It's getting me through. Thanks again 👍🏽

Late 80’s The theme to the Australian Touring Cars on Saturday mornings. Sierra Cosworth cleaning up. I looove this song still 38 years later. It was perfect 80’s with the powerful voice, killer bass line, magical orchestration … and Sierra Cosworths flying. Thank you so much for this

Fab song. Propaganda were actually German, though the sound of the record owes a lot to British producers Steve Lipson and Trevor Horn. Claudia Brücken has a wonderful, very distinctive voice. And they're back!

The greatness of Trevor Horn. Everything he touched turned to gold.
@stevem-h35623 ай бұрын
@@richardfairlamb9728 Horn was supposed to have produced this album, but he was too pre-occupied with Grace Jones' Slave To The Rhythm. So, the job of producing this album went to Lipson. And boy oh boy did he smash it. One of the greatest albuims of the 1980s.

Like you, Harri, I can remember hearing this many years ago, but I didn't really take it in properly .. Hearing it now, and with the visuals to accompany it, I like this quite a lot .. Very catchy, and a little bit mesmerising .. You can get lost in its flow .. Great pick by the requester, Nathan .. Cheers, Wayne

The album Secret Wish was inspired by the works of Edgar Allan Poe - a track called Jewel precedes this track Duel…Jewel is a punk version on the album. I imagine producer Trevor Horn sneaking back into the studio - he is also a superb musician - and coming up with Duel.

Harri, It may possibly be that you recognise the chorus because the instrumental version was used as the theme for the RAC Rally coverage by the BBC in the 1980’s. Took me ages to find it as I loved that theme. Keep up the great work 👍

I did not know this. Then again, we didn’t have access to BBC in the Netherlands in the 1980s 😉 Not did I have any interest in any rallies. 😅

Yep. It was called "This Happened", at Bush Hall in Shepherds Bush in 2012 and I was lucky enough to be there and Duel was the track they closed out the gig with. Rather embarrassingly, Humphries' Macbook Pro which was running the multitracks decided to crash during the first verse which brought the first run at it to a shuddering halt with much chortling in the audience. 2nd time through though... it was f"kin epic. It was a wonderful evening.

They recently released their 2nd album as X-Propaganda, and it's very good. You should do the b side to this one "Jewel", it's the bitter side to this. Same song, different producers, different results. Their 1st album A Secret Wish was probably the best produced album in the 80s and it still sounds like the future.
