👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻ADHD isn’t a bad thing, and you shouldn’t feel different from those without ADHD. Remember that you are not alone. There are others going through the same thing.

I do have the predominantly non attentive type (314.00 in DSM). I do fidget a lot but I am not sure if it counts as "stimming". I am not the kind of person on the floor rocking back and fourth holding my knees. I also like that you made it clear that men have a lot of these symptoms too. It would be unfortunate to see it turn into a stereotype of women and men not get the attention they need. I procrastinate and it would be hard for me to keep a job not seeming to pay attention or stay on task.

I have literally all of the things you mentioned in adhd in men, especially in conversations and forgetting important things like my id card, wallet, phone almost EVERYDAY i'd forget one of these things even while talking sometimes i get lost track of the conversation and i have to ask, what was that again? My life is so messy and when each new year starts i make so many new resolutions like keeping up with school and organizing my studies, i was ok with the first 2 weeks then always after that i burn out and everything starts to break down and fall apart. I dont know if im just lazy, it has been happening to me since primary school until now in college. I applied for so many new things and almost never follow through all of them...

Thank you for sharing…you are not lazy. People with ADHD have difficulty with executive functioning (losing important things, staying organized etc.) Don’t beat yourself up, there’s ways to cope and work around your ADHD. We’ll include another video we did on healthy coping skills below ❤️

I'm 43 and a writer and I'm often battling this so you're not alone. I've currently got 6 writing projects on the go on my laptop at the moment and I often flick through them during a writing session or jump from chapter to chapter. Even when watching a film I might jump on youtube suddenly then start reading a book or go on a game then back to the movie. Its a constant a battle.

I feel like my adhd is alot worse now as an adult when I was a kid it seemed like the only issues I had was hyperactivity. Now it's all cerebral I have speech problems anxiety absent mindedness etc it's hell adhd is really one of the worst mental disorders u can have it affects everything in your life some people be thinking I have autism now and its really annoying because they try to tease me by being clearly Sarcastic and It's very offensive to me i know i dont have autism because i pick up on social cues easily can mantain eye contact easily and dont have sensitivity to bright lights or loud noises also never had a autistic meltdown when upset

Thank you for sharing! It's common for ADHD symptoms to affect you more later in life. Especially at work, in relationships and at school! Consider reading an article we published on ADHD in Men (and other ADHD resources) here: www.choosingtherapy.com/adhd-in-men/

Hi Fabian - You’ve described exactly what I’ve been dealing with so I can absolutely relate to the thoughts you’re experiencing. I appreciate you sharing this comment because I just came to the realization that the people around me will not understand me if they are unwilling to try. We are under no obligation to share who we are with those only seeking to assign us a label. Someone else’s intellectual laziness shouldn’t be my mental burden.

These ADHD videos are describing me down to a damn T😂😭😭 ive had a couple people recently tell me i may have ADHD which is why im here now. This makes my whole fucking life make more sense and now im glad i know I may not be a low IQ dumb piece of shit. Its been negatively affecting my work and its driving me crazy. I WANT to work hard cus i know im caoable of working hard, but I CANNOT FOCUS for the life of me unless its something I like doing. My managers have to keep getting on me for wasting time cus i have a habit of just going on my phone or totally disregarding my work and aimlessly walking around or just going outside for a while. If i am workung hard it means im having a hard time focing myself to focus which then stresses me out. Plus i have like 10 different responsibilities and it stresses me out thinking about it all cus then i make mistakes and then it pisses me off. But some of that is my job. Theyre always chamginh policies and rules to specific managers ideas and its confusing and stupid because theyre stupud and inconsistent which is funny cus i can be inconsistent sometimes. Shit i was supoosed to clock in 10 minutes ago. Anyway, thats it for this comment.

Therapy doesn't help with ADHD at all anyone who says other wise is completely full of shit, meds only temporarily help numb most ADHD symptoms. If you miss a dose or take your meds too far apart, you often end up feeling a thousand times worse. Meds only help manage your ADHD doesn't ever do shit to make it better to the point you start to feel normal. ADHD is like playing life on hard mode and it's sad how Most people don't seem to understand how awful it is.

Thanks for sharing your personal experience! Treating ADHD takes trial an error. What works great for one person might not work for someone else. Here's an article we published on ADHD treatment for further reading: www.choosingtherapy.com/adult-adhd-treatment/
