Congratulations Kelly. Great score. I also passed my part 3 on Friday. I also trained with a national school but I learned more from your videos than any of my official training! Thank you Howard- keep up the good work

Well done! Nearly identical situation here…. Started with Smart driving, got nothing but overpriced online course(1,2k) .Failing part 2 first attempt was a wake up call to find local trainer and proper support. Now getting closer to pink license and finally feeling in the right place !

Got my part 3 coming up decided not to go with the pink. Not worried about the client led part as i consider myself good at reading peoples needs and facilitating those conversations. Fairly confident in risk management too. However, I am just very nervous about the idea of dynamically having to adapt the lesson as in when is the right time to either change the lesson to concentrate on an arising issue or whether just pulling the learner up to discuss it as a fault. Would you say if the fault continues after a chat then change the lesson? Also my other worry is trying to balance between over instructing or not enough.. part 3 is soooo much harder than i ever imagined haha. Great videos Howard and well done to Kelly 😎🫡

Thank you and good luck with your Part 3. As long as you can correctly identify the learning needs and help the learner improve whilst ensuring things stay safe, you’ll be fine. Do you have a trainer? Have they been able to get out and observe you teaching someone? If not, ask them to sit in with you.

@@How-2-drive thanks Howard. Yes i have an ADI trainer i done 20 hours working towards my pink 10 of which was me teaching a learner with zero experience (he sat in of course). Then changed my mind about the pink. I’m now having another 10-15 hours with him observing me teaching a different learner so hopefully this will polish me up enough. Thank you for the advice. Only wish i lived closer to you, your knowledge is second to none 👌

Deliver a client centred lesson. Adapt to the needs of the pupil. No instructor led lessons that follow a pre set route.

Brilliant comment stay away from the nationals.. I don't see Howard anywhere around Wolverhampton much. Believe me i could tell you some serious horror stories about independent trainers. Whose PDI's have had to come to nationals. There's good and bad Plumbers Bricklayers Roofers as there is Instructors and Trainers. Disappointing that "How to Drive" have to go down that route.

I recall that Kelly was satisfied with the training aspect of her course. Nationals often out source the training to ORDIT trainers and do a great job in developing ADI's to become ORDIT qualified. The concern was more to do with the pressure to join a lengthy franchise agreement when the PDI doesn't feel ready and the lack of support once out on the Trainee Licence. Over the past 13 years of helping PDI's from all over the country it seems evident that 'some' larger schools want the PDI's franchise fee regardless of their readiness to teach to a decent and safe standard. You won't see me in the Midlands as I'm based in Norwich, but I have helped many people from the nationals go onto pass the Part 3. I understand that not all national schools are equal, its just the poor ones tend to tarnish everyone in our industry. I'm sorry to cause offense to you, a good trainer working hard to help PDI's.
