Coming from Rincon 3s that are still in my rotation, I wanted something for long and tempo runs and this shoe has been amazing so far. Got an incredible deal at an Adidas outlet and this shoe has really won me over.

These have replaced the Endo Speed 3 for my workouts. I prefer the firmer ride over the slightly too cushy Speed 3, and am loving that wider toe box! Saucony have gone too aggressive on the toe box taper in recent years and my pinkies don’t come away happy.

Did you have the speed 2's? I heard the 3s are horrible ive had about 4 pairs of the 2's and refuse to buy the 3.. Im interested in trying the 12's out vs the speed 2
@dark-k3u Жыл бұрын
Had the Speed 2’s and preferred them over the 3’s… a better fit for me and a bit more nimble and responsive. Boston 12 is noticeably heavier, but more versatile than either Speed for me, and my toes are so much happier in the B12. All very fun shoes, though that pwrrun PB has a special “pop”…

I just got the Boston 12s and am only one run in, but so far so good. I loved my Speed 1s and Speed 2s, but I think my Speed 3s are even better than both. Is sacrilegious to say CONSIDERABLY better? Anyway, just one man’s opinion, I know, but a pair of Speed 3s might become your favorites. I have ~250 miles on mine and can’t bear to retire them because they still feel great. Good luck!

My maiden voyage with these bad boys this morning and loved every second of it. Since I forefoot strike at any speed even when I walk, these shoes felt great fast or slow. My first experience with rods instead of a plate. The rods feel so much more natural than a plate and for me thats a good thing bcause my feet don't like to be told what to do. I also like the fact that their's a little ground feel too. Kept those knees bent. This is going to make a great training partner with my Topo Cyclone 2.

Yes it has a bigger cut-off then Boston 11, but not so much as Takum Sen's. I do pronate a little and I feel it less stable then Boston 11 (and before stack high ruling, the Boston 9), but it doesn’t bother me. As you said in the stability video, i absolutely hate a hard foam or else pressing under my foot arch. It gives me some annoying pain during running. The trick, to me, is having a good drop (6mm is great to me) and have good contact at the heel (when I heelstrike) and under the metatarsal joint with the fingers. If I'm sorted out at those two spots I handle heelstriking. And when Ibpick up the pace and naturally tend to midfoot (or sprinting forefoot), this shoe just shines. Thanks for the rewiews, great analysis as always.

Not for older/heavier people who want max cush. Go for vaporfly 3 instead. It's slightly more expensive but worth it. I regretted it after 3 sessions of 5km. I tried my darnest to really love them but my infinity run 4 feel better. After the 3rd sesh where I started feeling a lot of pain while running I just gave up and put them up for sale. Sidenote: I bought cush insoles just to try and salvage the dream but it wasn't any better.

I recently had the 12, I'm quite perplexed about the support at the heel counter/ankle level. Used to Asics for example, which have quite exceptional support at this level, I have the impression that if I do not put the laces to the last hole or made the loop of the runner, the heel slips and comes out of the shoe, and as a result you have to tighten more than normal. Is it my heel that is too “thin” or do others have this feeling?
This or Puma Deviate 2? I have the Deviate and it feels amazing... I'm just not sure how much stability it provides for my slight over pronation.
@DoctorsofRunning Жыл бұрын
Fairly neutral the Boston 12. If the Deviates are working for you I’d say stick with it.

My pair of puma 2's caused me so many issues with ankle, calf hamstring pain - anecdotal when looking down as I run they seem to collapse medially more than any shoe I've ever used! Does anyone else have similar issues?
@kuriosites Жыл бұрын
I've enjoyed the DN2 as well. My concerns with the Boston 12 is the upper and lockdown because I've heard complaints. For me, the Pumas have great step-in comfort.

@@soul0merk First, I love the Deviate Nitro 2 and have done just over 300km in them. They are one of my favourite shoes ever and I have bought quite a few pairs this year. Second, yes I do find they collapse medially, but strangely not on every run and I don't actually get pain from it. Some runs I take them out and I feel perfectly centred. I don't pronate and have had my gait assessed multiple times. I feel like the way I lace them has some effect on how my foot sits in them, but every time I think I have nailed it I end up with the same issue at some point. My heel just feels like it sits on the inside edge of the shoe. I don't roll in, my heel is just not centred if that makes sense. The worst shoe I've ever had for this is the Asics Glideride 3 which literally collapsed on the medial side and didn't come back after about two runs. Even when not wearing them the shoe would just lean in, but Asics covered them under warranty. The Deviates have not collapsed at all. I also have the Deviate Nitro Elite 2 and it is less of an issue in these, but still present to a degree. Not a directly comparable shoe, but I recently picked up the Brooks Hyperion Max and I am completely centred for what it's worth. Quick question, if you wear thongs/flip flops, does your heel stay centred? Mine often hangs halfway off the medial side. I've read about this before, but I have never been able to find the article again.
@gamerdude1234 Жыл бұрын
Same here, collapsing to the inside horribly with the DN2. Also terrible achilles pain for 5 or 6 days after just one 10 miler. Never had these issues in a different shoe. DN2 does have a nice pop though. Boston 12s feel great :)

I also have both as well. . Personally for me 1080v13 is perfect easy run shoe if you want soft. It's not very breathable though and quite warm. Otherwise triumph 20/21 is my favourite and normally I don't like 10mm drop but it works well in that shoe. Probably go triumph.

Havo both in your feet to decide. I need a little stability and to me NB 1080 and Asics Novablast don't work because they are too wobbly (to me). Anything can replace your feet feeling.

Boston 12's arrived at my door today. Mild concerns with the heel counter being too hard, since I have issues with the Endorphin Speed 3's heel counter as well on my left foot. Lockdown feels solid, but don't feel a ton of room in the toe box. So I might have to limit my duration/distance per run. I don't have a wide foot, I'd normally say mine is on the narrow to middle width. My Adios 6 and Takumi Sen8's definitely feel wider, maybe it'll shift around after my first couple runs. Hoping the Boston 12 can sub in for runs I'd normally use my Tempo Next%'s for (950km and 350km) so I can extend their lives till I get into my Spring marathon block. And pray they don't ruin the Tempo Next% 2...
@timtrenholm3698 Жыл бұрын
Did 14km this morning in the shoe for the first time, basically 20min warm-up into 8 times 4mins at 10km power, with 60sec recovery. No issues with the heel, which would have started to get uncomfortable in the Endo Speed V3. Next test will be long run easy on the weekend. But I suspect it will be fine. But pleasantly surprised. It's no Tempo Next%, but it's good enough.

The Adidas Adios Pro 3? For both, our flat foot runner has had problems in the past with the rod and plate in the adidas models. In this case, Saucony Endorphin Pro 3/Speed 3 have worked better for him.

@@DoctorsofRunning thanks for the quick response - indeed the Adios Pro 3! Any idea why that was the case? This might sound like a silly question - but any tips to understand if a shoe works for you stability wise or otherwise without taking it on a run (to allow for a return!)?
@jefreywith1f924 Жыл бұрын
@soul0merk Take them to a local mall or basketball gym and run in them or buy them from somewhere like Running Warehouse that lets you try them out for 90 days and if not satisfied for any reason you can return them for credit on another purchase.
