The outsole is CPU, commonly used in Chinese super shoes. It's known as being ridiculously durable, holding tread past 1000 miles, so of course it's going to show no wear at 100. Drawback is being fairly loud/slappy with a bit less traction.

Durability in supershoes like the Pro 2 and 3 is extreme. Although outsole gets worn through the foam itself on the worst contact points, the foam itself is so resilient and has grip in it self. Pro 2 is better after 250 km. Same with Takumi Sen 8-9. But then again people take Vaporfly to 1000 km. No problem.

Endorphin ?
@jimmyhart31916 күн бұрын
People run in the dead vaporflys that doesn’t mean they’re any good at that point though. Lightstrike pro actually holds up over time and performs way better than zoom x from the start.

No need for carbon shoes at that pace! Go for something less aggressive like a boston12. More than enough
@David-cg7msАй бұрын
@@hiimgiovi false information, boston 12 has carbon tool and slow paces benefit a lot from carbon + racing foam, more than elite, specially heavy runner that activate the propopulsion at slower paces.
@nguye578Ай бұрын
It depends on what you want out of your runs. Are you actively trying to run faster and have plateaued using daily trainers? Then maybe it's worth looking into for $250. But if you are fine with running 5 min/km (which is around what I run too), maybe you opt for a more comfortable shoe that costs half that amount. Both should work at that pace, "value-wise" you just have to decide if you care enough about the ability to run faster and if it's worth the extra money.
@hiimgioviАй бұрын
@@David-cg7ms nope. Boston does not have a carbon plate… it has glass fiber infused rods. And It is far different from carbon supershoes. Boston12 is a super trainer indeed which is more than enough for 5:00/km pace. I run in boston up to 3:30/km pace and they are fine. Below that I can feel it is not optimal and I use takumi sen 9

Isn’t the adios pro 3 one of the most durable super shoes out there? It’s also a bit confusing because at the beginning of this video you said the poppiness of the foam at faster paces in the AP4 went away pretty quickly, so wouldn’t that imply the foam is less durable?
@HolliewoodOriginalАй бұрын
He said the outsole was durable, not the midsole foam
@dwhdaiАй бұрын
From about 7:30 onwards he compares how AP4 provides “tons more life” after about 100 miles than the AP3 did. Seems to contradict what he said earlier in the video about the bounciness being noticeably less after about 50 miles. The AP3 is also widely known has one of the more durable super shoes, and it’s strange to me that the AP4 which is lighter (and presumably less outsole thickness?) and has more compliant foam would be more durable.
@brandall101Ай бұрын
It's difficult to know really as most super shoes lose their maximum pop pretty early in their lifespan, but can continue to be great for speed work for a long time before the foam is dead. AP3 and AF3 are great examples where many runners take them up to 500 miles and beyond, but aren't really doing competitive running with them past the 150 mile point. But this is hard to parse as he's saying it's rather significant... who cares about the outsole if the foam is dead at 300 miles. TPU can last like 1000 miles on Chinese supershoes this isn't some amazing insight.
@dwhdaiАй бұрын
@ yea exactly. it’s not clear what he’s referring to when he says “durability”. I’m guessing he’s referring to the fact that the outsole is still fully intact, which is rare for him, but I’d say that’s not really useful info for most runners as we don’t rip out the outsole of our shoes after 100miles (or ever tbh)

David, with regard to barely getting the AP3 to 100 miles, did you wear out the outsole or did the foam die? I'm only asking because I'm a slow, midfoot/forefoot striker who doesn't wear outsoles very much, but I am heavy (200 lbs), so I tend to kill shoes by beating the foam to death. So how the foam holds up over time is the thing I look at when assessing a shoe's durability.
