ADIDAS ADIZERO PRIME X - shoe review

Unboxing and first impressions of the Adidas Adizero Prime X - how they look, how they fit, and how they feel during the first run.
An insane looking shoe - when images first started to appear across various channels a few weeks ago I was really intrigued. They dropped as early access for members on Adidas UK along with the Adizero Adios Pro 2 and Boston 10 last week, and I was happy to cop a pair.

How was it? I wear Ultraboost are they more cushioned ? Im a bigger guy so ankles n such can hurt after runs.. but with my uns they dont .

As always, great review! Thanks so much for putting in the time. On that note, the audio during your kitchen segment is a little "washed out." Maybe a Bluetooth mic, or mic placed closer to you would help. I've been eyeing these shoes since last week. You're spot on with that orange, though! She's a beaut, Clark! LightStrike Pro - maybe something in the middle of ZoomX and PowerRun PB? Maybe not as soft and bouncy as ZoomX, possibly a bit firmer, but not as firm as PowerRun PB?

Thanks, had some issues with the old music, it appears someone has bought the royalties to it and so I’m suddenly getting copyright claims against it despite downloading in the past from a royalty-free website 🤦🏻‍♂️. This new one has come direct from KZbin so hopefully no issues in the future

Thes shoes are great for reducing RPE and HR.... supreme for saving the legs and lowering effort.... especially if mid/forefoot striker .....LOVE THEM!! they get more 'normal' after a few runs in them

I'm just watching this video now as have ordered a pair of Prime X and just waiting on delivery and been watching a few reviews. But was interested in what you said about the Alphafly's and the arch. I got a pair maybe a year or so ago and done one run which was a 5km PB but after I stopped my arch pain was pretty bad and the next 3 days I couldn't even put them on to even stand in as it was that bad, I ended up sending them back. Anyway fast forward and 7months and I seen a pair on a massive sale at £130 and had seen a short video on KZbin where a guy ripped out the glued in insole from his Alphafly's and replaced them with an insole of his own and solved the problem so at that price I took the gamble and bought them and straight out the box was the arch pain again so just went for it and picked at the insole from the toe end back to the heel and got it all out, tried them on with no insole and the difference and relief was instant so I then took them off and put in an insole from my Nike Vapormax leisure trainers as they have a bit of a extented arch anyway and the Alphafly's felt brilliant on, no arch pain or anything. It feels a completely different shoe when you take the original insole out and put a new one in and you get all the Alphafly's gains with no pain. I don't know if you'll even see this comment as it's an older video but just thought it may help you out if you do as it certainly helped me a lot.

I find the Alphafly to be a more cushioned ride, but the restrictive arch (which is thin) caused me a bit of pain after longer distances. No such discomfort in the Prime X, but it’s a firmer ride. It all depends on personal preference.

I had a pair arrive this week; I'm a heel striker - and outside of the heel too. Didn't risk running in them. They felt so unstable. Going to have to stick to the more basic runners I think. Still, saves me a packet of cash.

Hey Berny, thanks for taking the time to watch the video! I really like both shoes - the Prime X is great fun to run in, but it’s not overly stable if taking on lots of twists and turns. Take yesterday’s run for example, I was doing a 12km progression run and it was wet outside, part of the route was on a farm track and I didn’t really trust the Prime X, I’d have ended up with a broken ankle. If you’re looking for outright fun and insanity, go Prime X. If you’re looking for something more reliable and usable, go RCEV2 👌🏼

Hey Big fan of your channel, I am a daily runner from India. I have recently purchased these shoes, but soon after my first run the paint from energy rods came out (maybe as it came in contact with stones). Is the cut-out section at the outsole feels awkward or makes the shoes unstable? These looks too high-stacked and heavy for me. I will stick to my trusted old pair of adios 3 for now haha. Tq for the video.

Thanks so much for watching! The cut-away does make the shoe feel unstable to walk in, but no problems for me when running. The shoe is also not too heavy, it’s actually really good fun to run in 👌🏼

I just had my first run in the PRO2 tonight, amazingly lightweight but responsive. Originally wanted the Boston 10 but got put off by some of the reviews, the Prime X looks good, it must be one of the highest ever stack height shoes?

The stack height means they’re not formally race legal, if you’re a professional. I’m not sure they’re faster than the Vaporfly, but more cushioned

Hi, How's the sizing? Are they true to size?

I’m actually running a UK12.5, which is half size smaller than my usual running shoes. That said, I usually prefer a bit more room in the toe box as my feet swell over longer runs. In summary, I’d say go true to size 👌🏼

I will pass. The shoe is monstrously thick and bulky. It looks unstable and wobble, a disaster for rolling your ankles, potentially for heel strikers. It’s definitely not a shoe for everyone.
