I only have one lift in them and it was a heavy squat day and they were PLANTED. My RADs are pretty stable too but I think the heel in the DS3 makes it feel a tad sturdier. I did have some issue with the heel going up so high on a walk I got some rubbing. Wasn't that much of an issue during the lift. I have a 2E foot and they fit great but you are right about the toe box being a little aggressive. Nothing too serious and it felt like it loosened up by the end of the workout. Heyo!, I watched the video because I'm considering buying some new shoes for the gym. I've been eyeing some weightlifting shoes because I love squats, and I find that an extra heel could help, but I'm not sure because buying so specific for squats could not be the best. What do you think of these shoes for squats? Could it be good for someone with decent mobility?
@thatfitfriend3 ай бұрын
These can be decent for that, imo, especially if you're not trying to spend on multiple pairs from the jump. Plus, you can use these for other things so you'll tick your squat and normal lifting/cross-training boxes. I'd start with the Dropset, use em for a few blocks, then assess as you get more data on your performance.

Hey Jake! Thanks for this review, I ended up getting the Dropset 3 (all pink women’s ones - so nice!!) and got a UK 6.5 (I’m usually a 6 or 6.5 in Adidas and Nike, depending on the shoe, and the dropset 3’s fit, but only just. Do they give slightly once they’re broken in? The issue I’m having is that it’s slightly snug around my big toe on my left foot (it must be slightly bigger on that side and my right foot is fine). I feel like the UK 7 would be too big and my foot might feel less stable? Would appreciate your thoughts on this, thanks!
@thatfitfriend2 ай бұрын
Hey! They should break in a bit more as you wear. I feel like if the one fits and the other is a little snug, then you'll probably be okay if it's just a slight tightness on the left side. As long as you're not dying in them, then you should be okay or I'd also grab some thinner socks which may also help if you haven't tried that yet!

Hi Jake, I'm a new subscriber in need of help. I'm about to join a gym again after 15 years and I'm having trouble deciding which shoes to buy. I hope you can help me and your reviews already helped me a lot narrowing it down. I'm planning on doing mainly bodybuilding (incorporating the 3 powerlifts) and just some light cardio as warm-up before the weights. In my case, which shoes would you pick between Dropset 3 and The Total? Toe-box width-wise, they're similar, right? I have wide feet. There isn't much difference in heel elevation, right? I can only afford one pair of gym shoes right now and I really want to make the right choice. Thank you in advance.

Hi Jake, love your videos! Not too many fitness KZbinrs do informative and indepth shoe reviews like yours in my country 😧 Just wanted to ask for some tips as I'm really divided between getting Adidas Dropset 3 vs UA Tribase 5. I'm a regular gym goer and mostly do weightlifting such as squat, deadlift, benchpress without plyometrics and definitely no crossfit. So I'm looking for a shoe with a lifting bias that I can just comfortably squat and deadlift in at the same time. I've been using Metcon 3 with 4mm offset while Dropset 3 and Tribase Reign 5 each have 6mm and 2mm. I like the way how my 4mm shoe feels when lifting and was wondering if the 6mm or 2mm offset will make a huge difference (and which will be better for my lifting needs like squats and deadlifts). I know 2mm probably won't make too much of a difference but I did hear heel elevation can be a help for squats but hurt when it comes to deadlifts and vice versa for lower offset. Is there one that you'd recommend between the two?
@thatfitfriend4 ай бұрын
Eh, probably not that big of a deal if you don't have any specific issues with mobility/mechanics! I'd go Dropset 3, then for deads, if you find the heel to be too much you can ditch them and pull barefoot!

I would like to test the Haze, RAD One and CX-T2 but it is not easy to find them in Europe (Belgium). This is the widest shoe I’ve ever bought, I have too much room for my foot to move. It doesn’t look any bigger than my other Adidas 10s, and my toe is where it usually is, but I don’t feel like I can get it tight enough, especially around the ankle. My heel doesn’t really stay put. Performance wise they are great though. I just wish the fit was more natural, but I’m new to training shoes so maybe that’s just how they are.

I love these shoes got DS 1,2,3 I do need to know how to use the extra shoe lacing holes!! If anyone know lmk
@thatfitfriend5 ай бұрын
You can weave them in and out of the eyelets, it's kind of dealer's choice, tbh. I never use them that much as I don't need em', but there's no one way to utilize them imo!

Dropset 2s were my favorite shoes since the Metcon Sport but sadly the same size in the 3s as the 2s were too short and tight in the toe box. Had to return

Yep, I figured this would be an issue for some. Problem with making the upper more rigid. Bummed to hear that, homie

Could you do a comparison video of dropset 2 and 3 ?

I compared the 2 in my first impressions video! I prob won't make a stand alone comparison for them now! Can answer whatever Qs you have, though

Hi Jake. Is this dropset 3 good for both deadlift and squat considering its heels height?
@thatfitfriendАй бұрын
It's fine for most. Now, if you're planning to compete in powerlifting etc., then you may want to ditch them for deads and cop a barefoot shoe, but for general stuff, they work great. Have pulled north of 5 in em and felt fine!

No! Can work for sprints/short intervals, but anything over 1-2 miles can be uncomfortable!

Eh, they have some arch. Def not the best! BP Savage 1/VIKTOS Core Gym can be better flat feet options

Who wears training shoes outside the gym?
@thatfitfriend7 ай бұрын
A lot of people. Many a contexts outside of your personal use case, homie. For example, I rock em casually if running errands and going to train or don’t feel like bringing multiple pairs with me. I know a lot of folks who walk to their gyms in diff countries and like wearing them to and from, and there are always comments on videos asking so I test for that 🫡 Peep my other Dropset videos, always comments about that cut out in rainy settings
