Best long run shoe I ever had!!! The squish and comfort under foot is amazing. Stability might be an issue, but this shoe ALWAYS makes my long runs feel effortless, and I'm not even tired or sore afterwards. That's got to mean something in a running shoe.

I wish you would go back and do this review through the lens of a fun/soft/long-run/recovery shoe. It has been great for me on days where my legs or feet are tired, but still need to get the miles in. Once you get used to the height, which I did after 3 or 4 runs, the miles just seem effortless in these. Been a great addition to my rotation.

How can you give this shoe 3/10 for weight? You conpletely missed the point of the shoe? Its really biased to give this a low score and compare it to the next%. They are conpletely different shoes. This adidas is for max protection which it provides. Its not the all out racing shoe you seem to have conpared it too Personally i think the weight on this shoe is incredible given how much stack height and rubber there is.

I don't get it. The shoe is clearly not a marathon racer because it is illegal. So it should not be compared to the racers like the Next% 2 for the weight.

The weight seems a bit irrelevant for this ultra high stack and incredible bouncy shoe. That stunt from an Adidas runner that "won" that race by 2 minutes... this shoe works for what I understand. And if this stack high would to be approved for competition today, tomorrow EVERY SINGLE running shoe brand would make shoes with 50mm .
@TimGrose
@TimGrose 2 жыл бұрын
This isn't a marathon racing shoe for an aspiring OTQ standard athlete as they are illegal ! So you can't race in it. I think it more of as a max cushioned tempo shoe and if you run mainly in a straight line it is pretty quick and the weight does not matter that much even in the largest UK 12.5 I have. Cornering is "interesting" for sure but once get used to it, it is not as tricky as initially seems.

I think you put too much emphasis on the weight of shoes Seth. Research has shown that the energy return of the foam in shoes is far more important. For example an alphafly at 7 oz is more efficient than a vapourfly at 6 Oz which is more efficient than a dragonfly at 4.50z which is faster than a more traditional spike at 3.5 Oz. Here we see a pretty clear trend of increased stack height and efficiency and also weight. So just beacuse a shoe is heavier doesn't mean it's slower. Not saying the prime x is faster than the next% or adiós pro but the weight isn't everything.

I feel like reviewing this shoe as a race shoe is a little unfair as it was my understanding from the adidas marketing that this was intended as a highly cushioned trainer more like the Nike Invincible or New Balance TC. How would this pair with the Adios Pro 2 and/or Takumi Sen 8?

I have Prime X Strung.... it is wonderful. But,.... as you say. I slow to a walk for any sharp turn. If you want to be scared, try going up and down stairs.😬 The upper on the Strung I find very comfortable. Though.... I had to go a full size down to get a good lockdown. There is nothing quite them for a long training run on flat, even pavement. Nothing hurts on the run nor the next day. A blessing. And surprisingly good durability. They sure cost a lot, but I'm really pleased. And appreciate the uniqueness of the way the Strung is made.

The agenda against Adidas is obvious at this point. Been watching the channel for quite a while now, apart from SL20 original, none of the Adidas shoes get the praise they deserve. Not stating that they all are 10/10, but the brand gets treated unfairly and the scores are beyond harsh. First the “don’t buy this shoe” comment on the Agravic Ultra, and now this, it’s the nail on the coffin for me. It was a pleasure watching you Seth, not anymore.

In Aus shoes is 420 n discounted 40%, so ~$250. I tried it at adidas n my ankles were scarily rolling n dodging customers trying to get up to speed was frightening. I noticed on your Strava you’re a 5:30+ runner. Try running on these at 3:00-3:30 paces n change direction on them with 50mm height. Shoe needs to be $150 n I still not sure I’d wear it. As a training shoe it’s not worth either. Adidas aren’t known for great runners.

Although I love the shoe and disagree with the review overall, I have to agree with that Seth is showing at 4:26 is a major issue that disminishes the comfort rating of the shoe by a lot, especially if like Seth you run really long distances. After an 8km run, I also had some signs of rubbing on the top of the toe due to the lace system digging into my skin too. I fixed the issue by getting a small protective sleeve. And as some have suggested in the review of the Takumi 8, I might change the laces for better ones.

Since it is the first 18 miles of the race you certainly would not want an unstable shoe and would want a lower stack height or your feet would most likely be slipping inside your shoes and blistering.

ANOTHER strange comparison with shoes that are out and out supershoe racers.....why not compare to appropriate comparable's eg Nike Invincible? This is advertised as a Max cushioned TRAINER. Once you've learned to tame the ride (100% with you on stability....choose route carefully) , the shoe is AMAZING at what it gives back and the RPE .... I constantly return times about 10-15 sec/km quicker at same heart rate and legs feel WAY LESS beat up. Given the Tech and stack, weight is actually very good compared to the majority Max cushioned options out there.

For a shoe with 50 cm stack height and such a huge midsole I think it is very light. For me a 8/10 for weight

My feet have always seemed to be between sizes with Adidas. Not a great fit in their shoes. These should be in the high heels 👠 category 😂

I feel like this review completely missed the mark on what the real intentions of this shoe was. Almost seems like a constant dig against Adidas and really don’t understand why?

I don't agree with all the scores but he has plenty of positive adidas reviews, for example the SL20, SL20.2, Boston 9, and Terrex Speed Ultra.

Isn't the upper recycled plastic? I'd take that over pure comfort any day, running shoes must be destroying the planet the rate us runners burn through them

Adidas is perhaps the only brand in the World with the luxury of producing unnecessary products and get away with it.... I mean, just look at the way they literally destroyed the Boston for no reason whatsoever, and now that abomination called prime X, which is not within the legal stack height, it is super unstable ( quite dangerous for your Achilles heel & tendon) and with all the observations made by Seth, you gotta ask yourself what they were thinking at Adidas when doing the shoe..
