I haven't tried the Terrex Speed Flow, but can't tell you that the Terrex Speed Ultra is a great shoe for fast and long trail running. The Puma Voyage 3 has also a great trail running shoe though not quite as nimble as the Speed Ultra.

UPDATE (January 2022): I have now used the adidas Terrex Speed Ultra trail shoe on two technical 50k trail races and many trail run adventures, most of which have been 15 to 25 miles each. This is my favorite trail shoe to-date and one that I'd recommend to everyone! It is well made, thought out, and it simply performs. It's a great trail shoe that can be used for training runs, races, short outings, or all day ultras!

I think your remark about these shoes "getting out of the way" rang a bell with me, because that's how I felt with the Saucony Endorphin Pro 3. With the Pro 3 I really felt I could focus on the running and not the shoes. What made me really take the plunge was that I could personalize the Speed Ultra. As a believer, I have my favorite Bible verse number on the shoes too! :-) As for their performance, just amazing. Its great that I can hit high cadence very easy with these shoes, and the cushion is as supportive as you'd find on a Hoka, but with less weight. Still surprised that it just works!

Did you have to size up in these? I ordered my regular 11.5 that I wear in all adidas and they fit like a size too small.

They are a snug fitting shoe around the middle of the foot (think race fit) but I personally didn't have to size up at all.

@@SeeChadRun maybe just labeled or sized wrong. My Boston 12’s adios pro 3s, sen 9s, and prime X are all 11.5. For these, my toes are crammed in the front

I've heard mixed feedback about the TERREX TWO, although I think the new version is much better. Biggest difference between these shoes is that the TWO will have a little more cushioning under foot and is geared more as your daily trail shoe. The Speed Ultra is a little more premium and lightweight trail shoe geared more towards racing although I've used it for all sorts of trail runs. The Speed Ultra is more like a racing flat for the trails. It doesn't have as much cushioning, although I found it to be adequate for my foot while still offering decent protection and balanced ground feel.

Great review,bought these friday did 24 miles on trail straight out the box Saturday no problem.Light responsive a nice bit of pop in the fore foot.Good lockdown no blisters got a 30k trail race on Sunday then a 100k early July.Very excited to race in these

Its called race to the stones in the uk.Along what is called the ridgeway and finishes at Avebury stone circle which is i think the oldest stone monument in europe.Iconic place 👍

Great review!!! I am thinking of buying the Terrex Speed Ultra and I've seen that some retailers report the shoe as fitting quite small and so to go for a size or even a size and a half up. I generally wear a Saucony uk 8 (Us 9). Would you be able to advise? Many thanks

The Speed Ultra is a snug fit in the midfoot, but I wouldn't recommend sizing up. It's perfectly true to size for me.

I don't know how the Speed Ultra's will do in Hawaii, but on hard packed dirt and rocky trails, they do great! These are my favorite trail shoes hands down. I also really want to try the TERREX Speed Pro, which has a lower stack, deeper lugs, and is even more lightweight! Thanks for checking out the video!

Bought a pair of these shoes,and they are fantastic👍☺️Just need some more km for break in. What is your opinion when it comes to break in of these shoes?

My opinion is that a really good pair of shoes shouldn't need much break in and should be pretty good out of the box. I have had some shoes that irritated my feet a little bit or gave me a blister or two and then once I hit 30 to 50 miles they were fine.

Great review. I love these shoes and agree with all that you say except that I have no issue with the lug depth - they are deep enough to provide the grip i need, but the tread means that they are also great for road and so make a great door to trail shoe. Like you, I also just put them on and just run without thinking about them - unlike say the Terra Kigers which feel similar in some ways as a low-ish racy fit, but i am always worried about slipping on any wet or greasy hard surfaces. I wore these for a 58k ultra and they were fantastic - no issue with that distance at all.

It really is a fabulous shoe! Despite my complaints of the lungs being shallow, it grips dirt and rock much better than I anticipated. One thing that I didn't mention in the video is that the shoe does really good on the road too. I wouldn't recommend taking a trail shoe on the road because you'll wear out the tread way too fast but sometimes that's needed in certain circumstances or races and this shoe feels very comfortable on the road.

This is the best trail shoe that I've run in so far. It looks cool (but the white does turn more off-white-brown as you get it dirty), feels great, is lightweight, and can be used for all distances. I've also used the TERREX XT and TERREX Speed LD. The XT is a more protective trail shoe that, for me, doubles as a hiking shoe. The LD is also lightweight and comfortable for long distances (surprisingly comfortable despite the not so high midsole stack). The Speed LD however, isn't as "fun" to run in compared to the Speed Ultra, though it is a lot cheaper!

I've used the speed ultra for all my ultra races and still love it! I also recently tested out the New Balance FuelCell Summit Unknown v4 and was really impressed with that shoe. Full review being published on Sunday (June 11, 2023).

Definitely not waterproof. In fact, they work well in water because the water just pushes right out of the shoe. I've walked through deep water streams with no problem. They dry out very quickly. As for cleaning, well, yes once you get them dirty they tend to not be so clean and white. More of a permanent brown off-white color at this point. I guess that's just a sign of a well used trail shoe :-)

@@SeeChadRun Got the shoes just days after that night! Haven't had any long runs in them yet but they are great! Fit me perfectly super stoked on that! I'm on a riverside trail right now and have absolutely no complaints besides I wish there was a small heel tab. Comfortable, just the right cushion to flexibility ratio (for me) breathability is great! I love feeling the air pass through shoes the faster you go 😅 and even I when i go off trail like a kid climbing trees it is serving me well. Ohh and they look cool too 😅 cant imagine the white will hold up long but that is just added character from adventuring! I ordered from amazon for some reason there is a red X on the inner info tab. I think they are b grade or something. I noticed "scarring" on the midsole. Functional wise no problems Happy with them regardless! Thanks again bro!
