For no particular reason I wanted to bring up a pet peeve of mine: scoring scales that only operate in a narrow band. I feel that, on your scoring habits, a terrible shoe could still score over 5/10. But, strictly speaking, a 5/10 should be a totally average score. Many, many reviewers only give scores in the 5.5/10 - 9.5/10 range, which kind of defeats the purpose of a 10-point scale. Personally, I would find it more useful as a viewer, to have a wider range of scores utilised in your reviews. It's not very intuitive for 8/10 to be a solid recommendation, and 6.5/10 be nearly an "avoid". Thanks for all your work, Seth. ✌️

@@matthewholliman1399 Clearly. But then progress is forever denied, captive to past mistakes.
@diggdirkler3 жыл бұрын
@@dazeyhaze Yes, but a scoring system should be appropriate to the things it is realistically scoring. I don't have all the answers, but is it more useful, to take your example, for 0.1/10 to be "the most awful running shoe imaginable", or "the worst shoe that Seth could realistically test"? My feeling is that somewhere in the middle is best. A 9/10 shoe should be incredibly rare. But a 1/10 shoe should be equally rare. As things stand, a 1/10 is basically impossible.
@benw25783 жыл бұрын
Well what’s a terrible shoe in your mind? I find that most top shoes are good enough for all average runners. Like in this video, the UB21 is probably perfectly fine for runners that aren’t watching KZbin videos. It doesn’t fit the type of shoes Seth likes though, that’s the main difference. So this score shows it’s fine for average or new runners, but there are better options. Just my 2 cents
