I feel like Adidas wants to continue the ultraboost line for lifestyle, but also make it more athletically appealing, but they ultimately care about the lifestyle aspect to it than the performance aspect of it.

That’s what I was also thinking. It seems that Adidas is going for the look here. I’ve seen a lot of “non-runner” or very casual runner wearing it. No objections, It is a good looking sneaker!

Its a dilemma for these brands. The more classy they make it, the less of an efficient running shoe it becomes, and the more they adapt it for running, the less classy it becomes.

For no particular reason I wanted to bring up a pet peeve of mine: scoring scales that only operate in a narrow band. I feel that, on your scoring habits, a terrible shoe could still score over 5/10. But, strictly speaking, a 5/10 should be a totally average score. Many, many reviewers only give scores in the 5.5/10 - 9.5/10 range, which kind of defeats the purpose of a 10-point scale. Personally, I would find it more useful as a viewer, to have a wider range of scores utilised in your reviews. It's not very intuitive for 8/10 to be a solid recommendation, and 6.5/10 be nearly an "avoid". Thanks for all your work, Seth. ✌️

@@dazeyhaze Yes, but a scoring system should be appropriate to the things it is realistically scoring. I don't have all the answers, but is it more useful, to take your example, for 0.1/10 to be "the most awful running shoe imaginable", or "the worst shoe that Seth could realistically test"? My feeling is that somewhere in the middle is best. A 9/10 shoe should be incredibly rare. But a 1/10 shoe should be equally rare. As things stand, a 1/10 is basically impossible.

Well what’s a terrible shoe in your mind? I find that most top shoes are good enough for all average runners. Like in this video, the UB21 is probably perfectly fine for runners that aren’t watching KZbin videos. It doesn’t fit the type of shoes Seth likes though, that’s the main difference. So this score shows it’s fine for average or new runners, but there are better options. Just my 2 cents

I’m a Marathon runner who runs 50 miles a week all year and I need a durable shoe with a soft midsole. I just switched from my UB 2020 to the UB 2021, and I am satisfied with this softer, heavier shoe with good stack height! I agree with Seth: I have a very light weight shoe for race day that a never use in training. Price is high so I buy the UB 10-12 month after launch! I ran approximately 1700 miles in my UB 2020 replacing them with my new UB 2021! Enjoy your run 😊

Another great review, thanks Seth! Agree with lots of your thoughts, definitely a very comfortable and durable shoe for easy/recovery days and plenty of mileage. I know there's a lot being said about the weight but I find they don't feel overly heavy on feet and I'm a UK12. I run regularly in the adidas Adios, Boston, Adizero Pro & Adios Pro and would recommend people check out the adizero range if they're looking for shoes for specific sessions &/or races! Keep up the great work!

There are so many factors in a shoe that interact with one another, so Boost isn’t a constant in and of itself. So even the all-Boost OG Boston 9 is super fun for 101 lb me! However, this one is beyond too much shoe for me for any purpose, but kudos, Seth, for a fair and honest review. QD: Way too many movie scenes make me cry, but I’ll pick a running one: the final scene of McFarland USA. It’s based on a true story and every runner will love this film. Kevin Costner directed and acts as the unlikely running coach of unlikely HS runners. Truly a heartwarming story. Martha

That shoe has too much drop for the foot because the insole does not reduce the drop unlike the insole in the Zoom 37 that is very thick at the front. The material is too soft or the heel stack is too thick anyway. I like the cage idea to hold the foot better than the Nike Flyknit but I don't know why not had to be made of hard plastic.

Reebok is still part of Adidas. Potentially interested parties are thought to include VF Corporation, the owner of North Face and Timberland

I see these shoes as more lifestyle. I had a pair of Ultraboost 19 for lifestyle over running.

QD: "Higher, Further, Faster baby." Carol Denvers to Marie Rambeau, Captain Marvel movie 😅 I just love that line ❤️ Also, question: Seth, would you, or anyone else here say, that the 1080 v11 feel more secure than the Novablasts? I can only afford to have 1 pair of road shoes at a time, and once I buy one pair, I'm already planning what is going to be the next one. Currently run in the Peg 37, at around 300k with them, but I'd like to try a squishier midsole next

lol @ the size 14 you oughta throw it on the scale just to get an idea of what us Fred Flintstone--feet runners have to suffer thru.. (literally have to add 3oz to the standard size of any shoe to get my size 13 weight) 😫

13 here too... I don’t even bother... I don’t want to distress myself! Lol I just go with whatever the advertised weight is and know it will be more...

Ultra boost just hasn’t work for me. I picked up version 18 or 19 and it has been a disappointment. I am now using it for general walk/errands.

I don’t understand the need to use that quantity of foam, even with less boost shoes which are lighter it was comfortable for me. And the price for such heavy and easy day shoe ... it seems too high. Thanks for the review.

They are great. I have 2 pairs. Yes, the plastic cage is necessary because keeps our feet stable and prevents friction. They are not heavy and they soft and comfortable and light. I am a small and skinny person and I feel great.

Adidas: Ultraboost = ultra heavy! Let’s see how many seasons it’ll take Adidas to catch up with its competitors. I appreciate your honest review 👍🏻

QoD The ending scene of Blade Runner "I've... seen things you people wouldn't believe... Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-Beams glitter in the dark Near the Tannhäuser Gates. All those... moments... will be lost in time, Like tears... in... rain. Time... to die..."

People can say what they want but to me nothing fits good like a ultraboost. And its a really durable shoe like you said, my first UB's lasted 3.5 years
