What you're doing here Joe is highly needed. Don't know why no one else is reviewing moving heads like this. Would love to see some comparisons for reference like the rogue hybrid or maverick or Martin MH7.. If these companies will loan you some for the fixtures for the sake of reviews that is.

Fixture looks pretty versatile and well suited to the higher end of its market. My favourite bit of the video is the lighting of the midshot with you and the fixture in the frame. Cheers.

Nice review ! You mention that the prism engagement shrinks the coverage field of the light. Are there any other moving heads that you're aware of that would allow for more coverage with the prisms, say for a textured gobo wash to fill a wall ?

I'd be interested to shoot these out against a Robe Pointe. The optical path looks different re: prism placement by zoom making for a non zoomable prism effect. The layered prism is interesting though

It's actually ironic because I live in California and American DJ has a warehouse in California and I never never never buy from them. Their customer service sucks shipping is really slow even their gifts through rewards points they never sent me...Chauvet is in Florida and their service has been nothing but good experiences to me I buy bought their lighting and truss

I prefer the RH1 as it has zoom on the prisms. Although it has a smaller zoom range, one less colour and less gobo's than the 16 Rx.

Looks like a fantastic fixture, how many of these do you own, as there were two on the truss at the end? Also, is there an option in the menu, to change between 5 and 3pin dmx, would it work if you were to go in on the 5 pin for example, and then would the data carry across to the 3pin if you needed to go other 3 pin fixtures?

it works on fixtures like that that ive used, so I'm assuming that it will work on this

Fixtures with 5 and 3 pin connections are usually just commoned inside the unit, so you can indeed go in on 5pin and out on 3 pin. Just avoid coming out on both. (I'm not even gonna suggest for one minute that splitting DMX using this method can still work, ahem. It's just plain WRONG.)

The fixture doesn't have any lamp modes for different power levels. To dim the fixture for smaller venues you would need to limit the intensity from your DMX controller

Why can't ADJ put cmy and cto colour mixing and an iris in their fixtures? You can't really call it high end without them. I just can't justify buying these without being able to use them in theatre.

Not the best hybrid that I've seen. Chauvet's RH1 is better as it has better gobos and 1 extra colour. The zoom is narrower though, going from 5 to 19 degrees, but the prisms can zoom. It's also got a more rugged look.

Except they’re completely different, have bad quality control, bad customer service, and they don’t last as long. Don’t trust the Chinese lights.
