Adjusting an Alesis Hi-Hat Continuous Controller Pedal

Hopefully this will be of some use out there. I finally figured out how to get the pedal to trigger foot-only sounds every time! :-)

great video! i had the same problem with the yamaha foot switch so i upgraded to the RHH135 with proper stand.

A good idea to use a volume-pedal! The Hihat-Controllers are not good. Many of them have the same construction inside - with this rubber-part and sensor-plates. I think the problem is the sound-module, wich is not able to manage with the different output-levels. The Alesis controller hat 5 resistance values and the soundmodul DM-7X use only 2. I try to fix a microswitch with 2 resistors at the Hihat-controller (adjustment with a screw). When it works, I will make a video- when not, I will try out your idea! Thanks!!

Hi! Coincidentally I have these two pedals. The Behringer works with my Alesis DM5, but the Alesis (purchased with the DM7 module) does not respond. It does absolutely nothing but just a sound closed dish when I connect the cable. What could it be?

I have the DM10X and have already made the adjustment you highlighted. I still think the hi-hat pedal is poor. It just does not feel or act like a real hi-hat pedal at all.

If it works you have provided an invaluable service to Alesis drummers everywhere. Am i correct in assuming you're talking about getting rid of the horrible "foot splash" sound the HH makes?
