Imagine you make a commercial artwork for a company, and Adobe takes that work and reproduces it for generative AI. A bunch of legal issues come following that and a lot of people are angry, not just for themselves but also their clients.

I think using AI in art is ok but I agree with you. At that point you are just forcing the "AI art" word in to our daily language and your struggle should be to change the meaning of art. If you say "X with property Y isn't X" or "X created with Y isn't X", you are miscategorizing the object or you don't understand the object.

A warning to PS users who aren't aware of this yet: Since Firefly went out of beta everything you do in PS can end labeled as "at least partially made with AI" in the content credentials when you export it. It's going to be applied automatically. Because the Firefly is running in the background when PS is used. Tl;dr - do not use the "export as" function whilst changing color profiles or file formats. If you have to move between CMYK and RGB, then convert it, then save it as a new file, but do not use the default export function.

Yikes if everything is labeled as ai then we wont be able to use the label to help detect it. Which was the whole point in the first place...
@graveyard1979
@graveyard1979 5 ай бұрын
@@maggie3060 This is a pointless label anyway. A very token effort on Adobe side. First, it's only applied automatically on exporting. Otherwise you have to enable content credentials, else they will not be applied at all upon regular saving. Second, if they aren't enabled then nothing is preventing anyone acting in bad faith from presenting an entirely AI made image as their own. It changes nothing except is making problems for customers who use the export function for quick previews between color profiles.

It's so funny. I used AI images to get my novel characters to look aprox. right faster (and better cause I felt that my skills lay in another style and weren't up to it. Especially with poses). But the more I used it the more frustrated I grew, because I could not get what I wanted and I had to correct almost everything by hand so when I switched off my AI base, nothing changed. I grew tired and I think I improved a lot with painting because I was stubborn and wanted to bring my characters to life :D

You know the ppl that act like us being angry at AI is stupid don't seen to understand how ppl out there are making commission scams. A analogy I made for it is: if you bought a handmade clay flower pot for idk $50 and a couple days later saw a video saying the person that sold it to you is a scammer selling $1 pots for $50 instead. Wouldn't you be really angry that you paid $49 more than it cost??! There's ppl out there paying for AI imgs thinking it's art made by hand, a AI imgs have NO value because what ARE you paying for? Time? It takes a couple seconds to make, materials? It's digital and you don't even need to have extra tools, Years of experience? Experience in writing descriptions if anything. Like bro AI imgs are literally a glorified google search, like why they act so proud because they wrote "green fairy" and a green fairy appeared bro?

A lot of social media has a copyright thing for the tos that says they have a license to use your work so you can publish it on their website not to own any rights to use the art for like everything but it's still a bit too easy to manipulate that. There should be tightened laws that basically state it's not viable to claim any sort of license to use someone's work for marketing and training and stuff it's basically only a license for the artist to post the work themselves on the site.

It's frustrating that they are using the normal terms that use to just mean the user gives the app permission to post our art to use it in AI. I use to have to tell people that doesn't mean they can steal your art but then they did so I feel bad for something I could have never known even though I was right at the time.

Trust me clip studio is a million times better than Photoshop. It makes coloring so much easier. All the clipping layer options that it has like set as a reference layer. You can fill in your line art and it will ignore the gaps in your line art to make base coloring really fast. Also, it has way more features if you do comics. 60% of people who used to just use Photoshop have switched over to clip studio. It's because clip studio is a drawing software. Photoshop is a photoing editing software that you can just out of coincidence be able to draw with it

AI is a tool for artists, not a replacement! It's such ashame that an ART PROGRAM doesn't see that and instead promotes souless theft. If AI were to take over the creativity of unique individuals, who will peole, yet alone children look up to? A robot? Corporate who only cares about businesses and have very little to no artistic vision asside from what they're taking from artist? And yet it's promoted by Adobe...

im questioning if opting out works at all for any AI. AI models work by looking at images, making metadata out of it (what colored pixels are where for any given topic), these then get labelled and if someone asks for a specific thing, the AI spits out what was previously labelled (as far as my understadning is). So when you opt out of any AI model, the metadata of your images are already in there. The picture might be gone, but as soon as the AI got to see it and someone labelled it, it might have already been used somewhere
@froggycolouring
@froggycolouring 5 ай бұрын
Even if there is opt-out it’s already too late, as you said they’d have to retrain the entire model, which they’re too lazy to do. Honestly it should’ve been opt-in…

Well, people often train others in their workplace who are about to replace them. It's not an unusual thing. Before quitting, people are often forced to spend 2 weeks with a new hire to get them up to speed on their own, soon to be former, job. Maybe they got fired, and still have to do that, because it's 2 weeks of extra pay. Those who trained AI didn't consult with the artist? Well, an employer rarely consults the person they're replacing. And yes, the work done by the old guy can be just handed over to a cheap new hire, and continued for half the salary. And you can do nothing, except adapt. Did it ever feel weird to you, that people would pay a living wage for color pixels on screen to begin with? Wasn't it ever odd to you, that a drawn image could pay somebody's rent? Would you pay someone else's rent, if they drew you a picture? Do you value the art so much, that you'd be able to shelter, feed and dress someone else for making it for you at a very slow pace, and perhaps, only on the computer, where you can never physically touch it. All you do, is look at pixels - at tiny colored lights, and then support someone else in exchange? Aren't the colored lights worth it?! My view, is that the work that is now going worthless was always hugely overvalued. Art has to be a side hobby. It's not something that is to be done full time. Sure, it's convenient, if you're an artist. And as an artist, I'd love to have the world revolve around me, but I don't mind AI, and how sloppily it enters the frame. Yeah, it sucks for classical type art and CG work, but don't people just want to get things done sooner? AI makes those, who know it work faster. Same thing in less time. Is that bad? Is being efficient bad? Does the method matter or the end result? Is art in what comes out in the end or in how it was produced?

I haven't used any AI art tools because then I really won't feel like my work is 100% my own. On the flip side, I think if you use AI art in a video, like a video about AI art, you shouldn't credit anyone because technically no one made the art, and AI can't legally claim a copyright to that work because they are a computer program.

I feel like, yes. AI is awesome for artists as a tool and can be amazing for new workflows that make fun and are even faster... I used it before! I'm an artist and it helps putting together ideas and mood boards... But it's 100% NOT ok to steal. No excuses. And they should do better. For artists, the models we use now are too detailed anyway, because they literally base it on actual art... like I don't need exactly what I type, I'm an artist I just need inspo and can do my own thing out of it...
@cosmicllama6910

Right. It was never intended to be "just a tool" like they try to claim to justify it. That's why the model trained to draw just like Kim jung Gi was one of the very first things done with the tech. The whole point is to steal artists brands entirely and turn their names into prompts to steal their specific styles and cut artists out of the process

If they use artist’s consent, then i’m kind of alright with ai images. Too bad they steal art to make soulless images. Plus, people are making ai speed paints. At this point, AI is supposed to replace human work. The AI bros are trying to find ways to make AI animate things and more ☹

GAI is not a tool. It doesn’t help you create, it creates the thing for you. Profiting from other people’s work, who never gave their consent for that to happen, is theft.
@FudiBaeggli
@FudiBaeggli 4 ай бұрын
@@wwrold have you ever used GAI? Personally I do use it as a tool. Or at least used to use it. I'm a very versatile artist: 2D art, 3D art and I do games. In some steps I would do a 3D environment as a concept not a final idea and Ai helped me fill out what I would need more time for to see if my idea works. And also putting together mood boards from specific things I need and even from references I do in Blender or that I draw. But absolutely, yes, I and the people in the comments agree with you, that theft is not ok. And that's why I don't want to use it anymore and especially not give them money for it.
