As someone who has owned many Ducati’s throughout life. I understand the “Ducati Tax” on aftermarket parts BUT… 9 THOUSAND DOLLARS for an exhaust for a CONSUMER motorcycle!? Really feels like an insult to the consumer’s intelligence. Pathetic….

Lots of tire kickers and people who aren't even interested in actually buying the bike complaining about the exhaust price. First, yes, it's expensive but so is the bike and it's essentially a factory item that comes with a factory warranty that comes with a factory race tune. Also, it fits flawlessly and comes with the carbon heatshields. Secondly, while there is a Ducati tax, there is also real R&D that goes into this exhaust. A full system V4 exhaust will always cost more than an inline4 because they have to engineer the piping for the correct back pressure from two different sides of an engine even though they are also two different lengths to the back. When I see the Akra exhaust from my M1K($4.5k) assembled vs my SP2 assembled($8.5k) on a table for presentation, the full undertail looks like literal art, the M1K's looks like just another exhaust. You can't afford it, you complain, if you can afford it, you don't.
@sp00ky196923 күн бұрын
It’s not about affordability. There’s R&D in every Akrapovic - the Fireblade, for example, requires specific routing for the split throttle bodies to work correctly and it is a fraction of the price of Ducati’s exhaust, because it does not have the Ducati tax. One third of the price of the base bike just for the exhaust is ridiculous - the exhaust has not had one third of the R&D of the entire bike...

Rear brakes helps slow the bike as a extra aid to your front. For example on the track if you rely strictly on front brake only, you tend to upset and overload your front suspension. Applying the rear brake helps load the suspension from rear to front when you enter a corner. Marc Marquez rides the rear brake entering a corner while down shifting to stabilize the bike and load the suspension. If you watch videos of professional racers who enter a corner at speed and slide the rear, that's all done with the rear brake. 2nd: the rear brake help keeps your front wheel from lifting and or wheeling. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b6e0f6uVjZutaLM kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y52VY4SteLSBqrc

A new V4S with the Akrapovic system lands at $44k... for a non-limited edition, mass produced motorcycle. Add in some Ducati performance Carbon Fiber bits and you're easily over $50k. Really? For a bike that you will see everywhere? Influencer shoveling aside, the new Panigale V4 is not a handsome motorcycle. MV will sell you beautiful handbuilt exotica at that pricepoint -- and you'll never see yourself coming from the other direction. The BMW M1000RR gives you carbon everything at a substantially lower pricepoint. As a Ducati owner going on three decades, I feel like the brand has lost its way -- I say this as someone with 3 Ducati's in the garage. I understand the need for KZbinrs to pick up the latest and greatest. So, if you're doing this, I would go bucks up for the V4S, because it will be costly and challenging to match the V4S suspension performance piecemeal with a passive suspension setup. Ohlins SBK Forks and shock will set you back like $7-8k. Going with the lower end Ohlins units seems hardly worth the hassle.

Ducati exhausts are simply COMPLETELY overpriced. Even the low slung exhaust for the Panigale or Streetfighter costs more than a titanium exhaust for a C8 corvette...I get that its a luxury item and that makes it ok to charge whatever you want for it....but I am done....I went to the M1KRR and my SFV4SP will be my last Ducati. I am simply done paying the Ducati Tax for something that breaks a LOT more often, costs way more to repair, and the dealerships all act like you are supposed to simply smile and take it.
