Fred the Labrador has competed his 5 week residential stay with us.
Fred joined our residential program to help his parents to gain a better control of him. He is a big boy and together with his excitement, he has managed to pull his mum over number of times. This has caused a lot of stress and very little enjoyment when it came to his walks. Fred could be very excitable in the house too, jumping all over furniture, kitchen top and jumping on visitors.
We introduced variety of exercises and games to help build up his engagement. This was important for our recall and loose lead walking foundations. Indoors, we then worked on calming activities such as boundary training and some simple scent work to help keep his arousal levels down. We’ve also introduced strict management such as barriers around the house and crate for his rest times.
Fred is now able to walk nicely on the lead and recall reliably. He is a lot calmer in the house too but this will definitely require a little more work and reinforcement.
Good luck dude, it was a pleasure ❤️
